Wow! Honestly, you surprised me. I am blown away by this amazing video. You took as a basis a very subtle and uncommon theme from punpun and parsed it incredibly correctly and beautifully. Also, I was very happy to hear Kensuke Ushio's music from “the shape of voice” in the background. I do not often meet such people with such wonderful thinking and taste. Thank you for this masterpiece

Its funny how this pops up in my feed after my friend and I were arguing today and he said "I wish the ending to punpun was more saying like life goes on" and I literally told him about this exact scene and how beautiful it was how it fully cycles around and that was the exact significance of that scene and then this video pops up lol

The thing is that not all kids go through the same pain, some are born with a silver spoon, others have loving parents and sometimes perfect relationships from kindergarten really do exist… we just were never destined to find one. And that is what that scene represents to me, there is hope that not all lives will be as messed up as ours.

After the final timeskip, remember how Punpun said that it wasn’t so hard. Going through all of this and mind you, 2 years in probation wasn’t so hard. It was hard but after it’s behind you and you made peace with it, it won’t feel that hard. Peace is when you don’t regret, when you know that you didn’t know better so if given the chance you would do the same thing again. I hate how you have to go through something to know it, i wish knowledge came free as simple as biting an apple. That we didn’t need to fail, to make mistakes to learn from them. When Harumi waved at Punpun at the end, I awkwardly raised my hand to say goodbye too. I’m not a mother, I don’t know if I’ll ever be but I know that it’s going to be very very difficult to witness my child making their own mistakes and that nothing I can say will protect them from themselves. I am in some regard Punpun but I would hate to be the mother of a Punpun.

No. Simply no. There are too many variables that affected PunPun and the actions himself took that this will probably not happen again.
The manga is depressing and ends on a low note. I hate that.
There are so many parts where its not relatable at all. Its depressing for the sake of it, but the justification feels so forced overall.

my point here was not that an exact carbon copy of Punpun's life will happen again. No way. I even said that in the video, it's not gonna be the same. But I wouldn't doubt it if there was a kid out there in the next couple years who grows up with an abusive dad. Maybe a different kid grows up with a mom who never shows him love. Maybe a different kid decides to run away from home with his childhood love.

I gotta disagree. I dont think its a straight up a cycle thats gonna just happen again in the same fashion as Pun pun's life. To me its just a familiar starting point we all can relate to and I think the author is saying that its just another kid on another journey and that he has "life" to deal with. The cards Pun Pun was dealt werent great and he also made very bad decisions but that doesnt have to be this nameless kid's fate. Hell, they already have a better teacher in Shuntarou who actually noticed the kid's expression. Throughout the manga there are a few times characters mention how different their lives wouldve been if x y and z happened or if they made x y and z choices. During the last arc Sigma Pun Pun (lol) tells Aiko to stop worrying about the ifs which I agree with BUT NOW those ifs are a bit more clear with this new kid because we seen what Pun Pun went through. "If he doesnt do this hes fine" "If he does this hes going down a dark path" etc etc.. I think the ending is just very indifferent much like real life, and whatever happens is up to that kid's situation and his actions when he gets older. Just my opinion though. Also, sorryI'm not great with commas haha.
