For me, Reiner is the best character in the whole series. And he definitely is not the same with Eren. He has a real growth as a human being, cares deeply about his relatives (tries to save Falco and even wants to sacrifies his own life for it) at the same time when Eren puts his frends in a real danger only to achieve his own goals. He faces with the concecuences of his actions with deep reflection, grief and sorrow. He regrets his wrongdoings and have the courage to tell, for example, Jean about the death of Marco and say that he is sorry. He even don't try to protect himself, when Jean beats him for it, because he knows, that deserves it. I see Reiner as a person, who can not only take real responsibility for his actions but also to make his best to fix its concecuences and not to let the depression and huge emotional pain to stop him from trying. He definetely deserves the redemption.
Eren isn’t putting his friends in danger, he can see the future so he knows that they will live anyway. The story is literally designed to have Reiner and Eren parallel eachother so you’re just flat out wrong
@@aleatheltrashcan478 Eren literally calls himself worse than Reiner in the Special 1 episode. Also Eren only saw certain memories from the future, you can't assume he knows everything.
But ultimately what Eren is doing is for his people and is a direct effect of what reiner did… what reiner did was for his own selfish reasons so yea i disagree
Reiner was a kid , he was brainwashed with heavy propaganda, they were taught that eldians made the world suffer for 2 Thousand years , and that eldians didn’t pay for their actions and evacuated to an island and live their life in peace inside the walls , and was sent on a mission to “save the world” he was used by Marley and with his mind being broken he realizes that what he did was wrong years later in the basement , physically he’s at fault for the destruction, but in his mind he needed to do it and isn’t entirely at fault, now some readers/watchers may see this and say he’s guilty of everything and then go on to say Eren didn’t do anything wrong , Eren did many things wrong but for the sake of his people he has to eradicate the world , this could be justified but it doesn’t mean it’s right , eldians ruled the world for 2 thousand years with the power of titans and made every nation suffer , and the eldians just walk away from everything , at this point their hatred towards eldians is justifiable , but wrong , now there are some points in the story were Marley and the world are completely in the wrong, but so we’re eldians , but also everyone did something justifiable but their actions are still wrong like Eren , the rumbling is justifiable for his people but still wrong as he is killing innocent lives such as kids
God my fav character in aot since 2018 is getting thsi masterpiece of a defence analysis. I am excited that i got recommended this channel from yt algorithm . Did Reiner do anything wrong? Absolutely. Would those things have happened if somebody took his place? Most likely. The way I see it, Reiner's most valuable characteristic (to Marley) is his misplaced loyalty to Marley and becoming a Warrior. It makes him easy to manipulate and commit HORRIFIC acts on their behalf. But Reiner isn't exactly "special", theoretically, anyone could have taken his place and destroyed the wall causing the mass death and destruction that followed.
Right. Honestly I think Reiner was one of the most unfortunate candidates for Marley to pick in executing these actions because he was vulnerable in thinking that what he would be doing, would grant notoriety in Marleyan for him and his family.
I love the way Reiner basically is Eren but he actually finds true freedom. Actually if anything he is what Eren should have done after realizing the truth that they discussed together right before he attacked Marley. He decided to live for other people, finding a true purpose to live for despite all he had done. This contrasts with Erin greatly who was never willing to let go of his childish obsession and desire for freedom and ultimately became a slave to it whereas Reiner was able to free himself from the demons that had haunted him his entire life for the sake of gabi and Falco. An incredible character indeed.
Well that just depends on if you think that living for other people is an act of freedom. To me, that doesn’t seem to be true just from the basic definition of freedom
@@aleatheltrashcan478 in what way does deciding for yourself to live for other people restrict your own freedom? Tell me what is the contradiction with choosing of your own volition to do something with freedom is that not the exact definition of freedom. Meanwhile Eren is stuck killing and murdering people committing crimes he doesn't want to commit for his false idea of freedom, this fictional world where he can do anything he wants with no consequences. This fictional world that he gives up everything including his life to try to find and ultimately doesn't truly find it. That's like the whole point of the story is that this obsession with your pedantic dictionary definition idea of freedom is fucking stupid. Choosing not to do something is still an act of freedom you do realize that right? Just because you can doesn't mean you have to.
Reiner isnt innocent, though. He's done MANY things wrong. Terrorism, mass murder, genocide, and many countless crimes. Does his mindset in the present excuse what he's done in the past? Of course not. But Reiner as a person changed, realizing what he's done back in Parasid was wrong.
i thought this video had like a few hundred thousand views but it didn't, the quality and detail is immaculate! you deserve more. should be longer, like 20 minutes and more. level the music to the mood of what your talking about and also so its not so energetic the whole time. 😀 use multiple ost from the anime to control the pace and mood of every subject, i feel like im watching a vocalpinapple youtube short because of the fast pacing, big reason being the music is unchanging and the video is pretty short. this is feedback, but other then this i really loved this video!!!
Thank you for such a thoughtful bit of constructive criticism! Definitely still getting used to producing balanced content in terms of audio levels, music choice, and much more, but these pieces of advice from a viewer are invaluable! Thank you!
Thank you! Happy to see you in returning comment sections. That’s a tough question to nail down but honestly I haven’t seen that many series/movies in total, I just develop a deep affinity for a few specific ones that I truly enjoy.
@@FiguringOutFantasy That is great. I personally have seen over 600 tv shows now, and about 150 novels. And I think AOT is the best of all of them. Great to see you doing analysis on it!
I think Reiner is a good person but he still did plenty of horrible unforgivable things. If a terrorist is brainwashed since childhood into believing that blowing up a building is a good thing then we can still call him a horrible human being for actually doing it.
Reiner was my favorite character in AoT and then he was my least favorite character because I didn't get his motivations, by the end of the series, he was back to my favorite character
Why does Marley pass titans around children? There's a really easy way to get around the Curse of Ymir - when passing down titans, give it to somebody who is already in his 50s or 60s. If they did that they wouldn't even need a Warrior training program - just pull from the most experienced troops who have survived the most wars. Perhaps the problem with using old people as titan shifters is the power of the titan scales with the power of the human. So they might want somebody younger in peek physical condition - IE late teens to early 30s. Still not children. The only reason Marley uses children is because they're gullible enough to fall for the indoctrination. Like Reiner.
Reiner did many things wrong, one thing he did wrong was killing many innocent civilians, since he started it and didn't have intentions of stopping until his mission was complete Eren did nothing wrong by doing the rumbling, only thing Eren did wrong was having his friends stop him at 80% completion as we have seen post 139 conclusion extra pages that humanity learned nothing despite the forgiveness derived from Eren
Eren did many things wrong , he killed many innocent civilians , both did many things wrong , just with knowing the history behind it one could consider it justifiable, something being justified doesn’t equal to good doing
I honestly never understand why you people on youtube show how little subs you guys get. Showing me that no one subs from watching your videos makes me instantly thumbs it down and shut off the video.

Reiner has the best looking titan. Change my mind.
If he reached his potential he might be the most powerful armored titan for the span of 2000 years
No I agree wholeheartedly 1000x%
Reiner is just awesome!
Idk falco’s jaw is pretty cool
He looked better in the first seasons. His look got too blocky later.

how does such a detailed AOT video have so little views?
Figuring Out Fantasy is a relatively new channel with just a few hundred subscribers and the video is less than a day old
I’m thrilled to hear I’m doing things right!
