The multi-storey buildings featured in the video are fascinating elements, offering a glimpse into the urbanization and architectural advancements in Bombay (now Mumbai) as early as the 1920s. These buildings reflect the growing economic prominence of Bombay and the associated need for space, given the city's geographical constraints. As the city began to industrialize and its population grew, vertical growth was the logical response.
Another aspect to consider is the influence of the British colonial period on architecture. The design and construction of multi-storey buildings often displayed a mix of Art Deco and neo-Gothic styles, which was in vogue during this era. Many of these buildings would have housed offices, institutions, and residential apartments, marking a clear departure from traditional Indian architectural styles and living arrangements.
Seeing these structures almost 100 years later reminds us of the city's vibrant history and the continual architectural evolution it has experienced. These buildings are a testament to Bombay's, now Mumbai's, adaptability, and growth over the years.

Living a happy life should be the sole purpose of life.. Ego, jealousy and hatred do not allow us to live a true life. True life is living in love and joy with those who are living with us in our time.

Mumbaikar here, I'm surprised to see that mumbai was always this rushfull. These narrow, crowded, claustrophobic yet nostalgic streets can still be experienced today. Also after almost 100 years the style of speaking and dialect hasn't changed at all. I could grab a dhoti and coat and fit right in with people. I imagine my grandfather as a young boy roaming around these streets, he served in the military and later a mill worker after retirement. Ballatpiere was a railway station back then also 1st railway in India ran between Mumbai and Thane during this time.
