I know people put over the Wrestlemania matches as their best together but, for my money the HIAC match between Shawn and Taker was their best match together.
Was a damn good match for sure, first HIAC, introducing Kane etc, but the Mania 25 match was better overall. The story and the build up was great and the match was even better. The false finishes, the fact you legit thought HBK might win. Both in their mid 40’s which made it even more impressive. That was the best overall wrestling match in Mania history.

@hardiks2685 Nobody in the mid 90’s drew as champion. The product sucked then. His ability was so much better than other guys they had to recognize that by making him champion. He was more deserving of that recognition than pretty much anyone.

Especially when, despite by their admission that they've had no interaction with the guy in decades, they pay lip service to the idea he may have grown up a bit since then.
For the record, and I wish I could forget it, Vince had a match with Bret Hart at WM 26 that also involved every living member of the Hart family that wasn't suing Vince at the time.
Still say it SHOULD have been Michaels that broke the streak. It would have made perfect sense. Brock Lesnar is still one of Vince's dumbest ideas. To this day, and Brock is a huge bad man for sure, I could care less when Brock Lesnar comes out to wrestle. And it was only made worse by the fact that he couldn't talk and didn't make an effort and got his cozy schedule. End rant.
💯. I always believed, and still do, that if HBK couldn't do it (end the streak), then nobody should've. Personally, I don't think 'Taker should've ever lost at 'Mania.
Lesnar gained nothing from that win. it's not like he was a rising star. they already gave him everything in his first run. another example of how much of a moron Vince became the last decade or so. I also still defend Austin walking out at the idea of jobbing to Lesnar on free TV.
Has anybody else noticed that listening to Jim and Brian talk for half an hour seems like 10 mins while listening to others for 10 feels like half an hour?
Brian needs to tell Jim that the only thing actually ironic about the song Ironic by Alanis Morissette is that all the ironic examples given by her are not ironic at all. Thus making the entire song very ironic.
It's like the song the monster mash which is about a dance called the monster mash which is inspired by a song called the monster mash which isn't the song the monster mash.
I love Jim's take on how some of the boys look now compared to him. Must be something in the Memphis water because Lawler and Honky Tonk used to do the same thing about their contemporaries. But I can't disagree. Jim does look the same pretty much, same as Lawler and HTM years ago. I think even Stan Hansen was the same.
I would love to hear jim and Brian do watch alongs to more stuff. My favourite thing about modern wrestling is listening to jim talk about old wrestling.
I agree with Jim. Watching old stuff like HBK VS Undertaker is truly depressing. You see how great wrestling USED to be, and watching it puts today's product to absolute shame. I maintain that the 1997 Bad Blood match between Michaels and Taker was the most perfect wrestling match ever displayed. It hit all the right buttons a main event wrestling match should have.
At 11:00 or so, you both Brian and Corny, haven't got me laughing is soooo long about the hair, girls, and Leaf Garrett. Thabk you sooooo much! Please have more of off topic craziness.
Highway to Hell was Undertaker and Stone Cold Summer Slam 1998. 1997 was Hart and Soul. It was the SummerSlam Stone Cold was injured on with Owen Hart. Although Stone Cold was out cold at the 1998 SummerSlam too. Undertaker and Stone Cold head butted each other. And Stone Cold was concussed.
Um a huge Taker fan. Bret vs Taker summerslam is my most hated match involving Taker. It just did not make sense as it made HBK so God damn stupid. He is the referee. He nailed Taker with the chairshot illegally. HBK hates Bret. Doesn't want him to win. Bret spits on HBK....JUST DQ HIM THERE! but he doesn't. But then...hbk accidentally hits Taker with chairshot--illegally! Just call for DQ again! Bret doesn't get title. Mission accomplished. Just stupid booking
And yet Bruce never says anything super negative about Jim or anything bad about Jim for that matter. As for Brian. He is just a tag along. As much as Bruce is the artful dodger, Brian is the coat tail rider.
18:05 Really, that same disparity existed between Taker's matches with Shawn and then HHH and the Wrestlemanias they took place on. Though I do find it funny that HHH won the title as a babyface in the main event twice and both times it was completely overshadowed by the third match to last.
Bruce isn’t gonna say ANYTHING bad about Shawn Michaels because he’s the last remaining of Vince’s guys, and the two guys in control of the two main shows right now are hHh and Shawn Michaels. One sour word and Bruce is out on his ass in the cold again
It's weird as I never really associate Undertaker with Michael's. Like Michael's I think it Bret, Stone Cold, DX and Flair. But I don't fondly remember any of his matches with Taker. Not a knock on it really, just a weird observation.
Nash said it best in the documentary - it’s two characters that actually stand on their own completely, so sometimes they don’t get paired together. Add to that, they were in WWE for years and never faced each other until late 97, and then they didn’t really interact again until 2007 during the Rumble. Separate legends intersecting.
Fun fact: nothing Alanis Morissette sings about in "Ironic" are examples of irony. However, having a song called "Ironic" not have an example of irony is, in fact, ironic.

For the record, and I wish I could forget it, Vince had a match with Bret Hart at WM 26 that also involved every living member of the Hart family that wasn't suing Vince at the time.
And what did the evil man do? He put em over.
The streak should not have been ended.
Lesnar gained nothing from that win. it's not like he was a rising star. they already gave him everything in his first run. another example of how much of a moron Vince became the last decade or so. I also still defend Austin walking out at the idea of jobbing to Lesnar on free TV.
NOPE
💯 .
The only ironic thing is that someone with that terrible of a singing voice sold that many records.
@@Cruising_On_Lake_Havasoma Hold up now! She said she’d go down on you in a theatre… I’d put up with her whining if that was on the cards haha!
"Murder will get you life"
Snuka would like a word
We need a Rivals Epsiode on Jim Cornette and Shitstain
16:27 I can just imagine Jim deflating at hearing this
I've always thought Michaels/Undertaker Hell in a Cell was the best Michaels/Undertaker match.
That was a shit match
I love hearing Brian and Jim go off on Bruce.
And yet Bruce never says anything super negative about Jim or anything bad about Jim for that matter.
As for Brian. He is just a tag along. As much as Bruce is the artful dodger, Brian is the coat tail rider.
@@____K_____989someone who gets it 🤝
@@____K_____989He definitely would if he wasn’t cowardly lmao
Brian isn't part of the wrestling business
"What kind of fuckin' joke is that" 😂😂
They even put Shawns "Wild Eye" in the thumbnail 😂
It's a recurring thing with Travis. The man has puhzaz
"I've never seen a frog piss" - Brian Last 2024
😂😂😂 24:30-24:55
I was just waiting on JC to 💩 on the 🏀 Cards! It was worse than I imagined!😂😂😂
18:05 Really, that same disparity existed between Taker's matches with Shawn and then HHH and the Wrestlemanias they took place on. Though I do find it funny that HHH won the title as a babyface in the main event twice and both times it was completely overshadowed by the third match to last.
its a free fuckin ride when you're already late.
It’s the good advice that you just didn’t take 😝
@BlessedAreTheCheesemakers it’s like rain on your wedding day
when you watch these you’re reminded how much better wrestling and the wwe used to be
"Michaels always has to win or elsewise he wount show up" ' Jim Cornette
As he has one of the worst win loss records
Travis and the damn thumbnails🤣🤣🤣🤣
Bruce isn’t gonna say ANYTHING bad about Shawn Michaels because he’s the last remaining of Vince’s guys, and the two guys in control of the two main shows right now are hHh and Shawn Michaels. One sour word and Bruce is out on his ass in the cold again
Why is Brian so passionate about Shawns past and he wasn't part of the business?
Brian : Were you into women that.....
Jim : Why yes I was!
i was waiting to hear what they thought for this one, but did they get derailed
Coor’s light on a sunny day, lol
Should have been called "it figures".
Petition for Jim to do watch alongs of more modern matches that he hasnt seen but would probably like(Punk vs Taker, Cena Vs Punk MitB, etc)
Like Woody, If only #17 just used DraftKings, this never would have happened
Need some hbk/taker watch alongs for sure
When you watch big men today trying to " get their shìt in" and athletic wrestlers doing non-stop spotfest matches tell them to watch this Rivals episode if you want to know what real wrestling is

Hell, I prefer the Crockett territory days for wrestling but the last promotion that was remotely watchable was Lucha Underground and even that was ridiculous at times. This is why I say “things WWE fans say” because AEW lives rent free in you all’s head.
By the way if Bret lost he would not wrestle again in America. If Shawn helped Undertaker on purpose then he would not wrestle in America.
Yes and according to uncle Dave Kurt Angle has never had a 5 star match…. Just let that sink in.
“Shawn Michaels beats the big guy with a super kick you couldn’t earn a green belt with at a local YMCA.” - Eric Bischoff giving Raw spoilers
As much as I like HBK, that will never not be funny to me.
Did Kevin nash speak on the episode lol u see him sitter there but not talking
Hell In A Cell 1 is the best example of WWE style wrestling and a true, genuine 5-star match. That match told more story from the DX prematch promo to the OPENING bell than TYB have told in their careers. The psychology was perfect, the work was perfect, the commentary was perfect, the finish was perfect. Everyone came out better. Taker fans got to see him destroy the thorn in his side and leave him in a bloody heap, as well as setting up his WM journey. Shawn gets to go on TV and say he won the impossible match. Kane is a made man on night 1 and could've beat Shawn for the title the next night without a single fan batting an eyelash. My personal favorite match, and imo, this match is their Magnum Opus, and better than WM25, tho 25 had more heart-stopping moments.
No smoking sign on your smoke break

Orton vs. HHH was the main event of WM 25 and it was a horrible main event.
wrong person won.. Orton won the belt the next month but he should've won at Mania
It goes to show that the match taker and Shawn produced was the real main event
Triple Lame has always sucked
*Interesting Podcast of The Jim Cornette Show*
this was a great episode of WWE rivals Undertaker's feud with shawn michaels was amazing their matches at wrestlemania 25 and wrestlemania 26 were great IDK which is better their first one at 25 or their last one at 26.
They even for me both was amazing
@@JACQUEZ23same here if only their match at wrestlemania 25 was the main event it would've been better than triple h vs randy orton that was boring especially the stipulation of if triple h used a weapon he would be disqualified they should've made that match No-DQ.
The hair lmao
Jim looks nice with long hair
Alanis Morrissey?
WTH this devolved into TMI! Ha ha ha
Come for the Michaels-Taker talk stay for the discussion on frog bodily functions and German fetish videos.
Side note: Ironic by Alanis Morrisette is a dark song, contextually speaking. One of the lines is about winning the lottery and then dying the next day and another about a loving husband dying in a plane crash. Twisted...
Isn’t it ironic? Don’t ya think?
Pretty sure “twisted” is another song…
Brian and Corny give good advice, that Tony never takes and who woulda thought....go figure 🤔
