  • A NEW CHAPTER! We are thrilled with the closed-cell spray foam insulation we got done this week! What a ride to get to this point. With the time constraint and hard deadlines, we put ourselves under some real pressure to get our wiring done! Let us know if you have any questions about our process because we know we didn't film very much on how we did everything. We also deleted some of our back windows and completed our strapping.

    12 gauge extension cord is the way to go for sure. Stranded, super flexible, heavy duty and made to hold up to extreme use and conditions, and way cheaper then regular 12 gauge stranded wire. Seems like a total win from all sides. I'm a little surprised more peeps don't go that direction building their buses. The only thing I would say is add some dicor lap sealant over your gland on the roof. I know you used the butyl tape, but as an extra layer of protection, dicor is always a good plan for roof holes.
    It looks like your guy did a great job on the spray foam, without a lot to trim and sounds like a pretty great deal. Well worth the investment. I'm hoping the studio has let you stay and keep working inside. Keep knocking it out!! Continues to look fantastic. Good work guys!!

      You’re the best!!! Thank you so much for your support! We definitely will look more into lap sealant, we’ve seen a lot of rv people use it! We’re happy we got such a great deal on the spray foam and he really did a great job with getting it really close to flush! Really not a whole lot of work for us to trim up. The extension cord was a no brainer for us, we hope this encourages more people to do the same thing!

      @@AdamandAtlas You're welcome. I really look forward to your posts and seeing your progress and how you're figuring it out. I also really appreciate your attempt at perfection, but in the end really just doing your best to do it well. After all, this is where you want to live, you don't want it falling apart or have to constantly be redoing stuff.

    Foam looks good! We appreciate your thorough and clear explanations. Planning now will save unpleasant surprises later, and you only have once chance to get it right.

      Thanks! Yes we always try to think ahead! And we hope to encourage other people to do the same with their builds! It’s a lot of puzzle pieces you have to make fit!

    This is the best bus build I've ever seen very thorough and neat most people leave the original walls and windows in and don't even insulate very great work can't wait for the next one😃

    When I was younger I deleted windows in the back of my Baja bug with spray paint- the cheap .97 cent cans from Wal-Mart. It held up great for the 2 years I had it after that. Should be fine behind the spray foam.

    Adam, you can always get a black vinyl film and apply it to the glass on the outside, cheaper than tint and easy to apply, it's what we use.

    • @AdamandAtlas
      @AdamandAtlas  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We were thinking about that too! We were in such a pinch and just wanted to get them black so we used spray paint. We’ve seen so many other people use spray paint on their skoolies, not that it’s the right way, but we’re taking out chances. Hopefully the spray foam will keep it from budging.

    Did you guys end up using SeaFoam out of Lively for the Spray Foam? I did quote you as well. Nice progress!

    You could Use black felt or like material to cover the blackout windows, so if the paint starts to come off, it won't show what's behind it. Just a thought 🤷

    • @AdamandAtlas
      @AdamandAtlas  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We’re hoping the spray foam right on top of the blackout windows will stop it from peeling or anything if it does!

    Do you guys plan on putting out a framing video? Did y’all mainly use 1”x4”s? Screwed directly into the hat channels?

    • @AdamandAtlas
      @AdamandAtlas  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We used half inch ply cut into strips and self tapping screws to strap the ribs of the bus! We’re not sure if this was the best way to frame, we wish we used two by twos and attached them on either side of the ribs like a lot of other build do! The way we did it makes the metal hat channels hidden, so when we go to put up the walls an ceiling, we have to keep their location in mind to avoid hitting them with screws etc.

    Love the videos! Super helpful! I'm also in Ontario and just starting to prep for spray foaming. I have a 20ft bus and was quoted $1500-2000 by multiple sources so that's frustrating especially since Im only doing the roof.... Roughly 120sqft. X2inches 😩

      Thank you! Ugh, it’s so tough! We even had a lot of people telling us there’s a foam shortage! Hope you find something within budget 😊

    Why are you talking to us about what you are doing because I don’t think you have a glue how to do it! Just get on with the build before I fall asleep again. What a wast of time!
