  • I bought a Tudor Pelagos LHD (m25610tnl) in Rome, Italy and this is why I did, why you might want to, and maybe why you shouldn't.
    Tudor Pelegos LHD - www.tudorwatch.com/en/watches...
    Straps:
    Tan perlon - some cheap thing, they're all the same
    Leather - Colareb Venezia Rust
    NATO - UTE Watch Co.
    Black rubber - Comes with every Pelagos

    Great note on the end links - most watch reviews don't note how male/female affects wearability and I wish they would. I have the original 2-line black Pelagos, purchased before the blue/LHD came out, and it has been an exceptional watch. While I agree it could be nice if it was thinner, I sometimes like the extra chunk of the Pelagos compared to my Sub (124060). The thickness gives the watch some significant presence without feeling overdone because it is all matte.

    Great watch, bought mine a month ago and still love it and wear it every day. I had to smooth the sharp edges on the bracket which was disappointing to have to do, but it’s not the only watch I’ve had to smooth sharp edges from. Now it’s done and all good and glad I did it. Hope you enjoy yours as much as I’m enjoying mine!

      Exactly what I was thinking. I came back to this video today to see if anyone was mentioning the 39 in the comments. I have a BB58 but plan to sell for the Pelagos. I used to own an LHD but sold it within a year due to the thickness.

    Congratulations on the new pickup! I’m looking forward to to seeing what you make of the SSK too.
    Today agree that square indeces work so much better with snowflake hands than round ones. It’s how a Tudor diver is supposed to be! I know I’m very much in the minority but it’s why the Black Bay 58 always looks just slightly “wrong” to me. But hey, different strokes for different folks and all that.

    The MT5612 (current movement in pelagos) is 6.5mm thick. The MT5402 (movement in the BB58 and new ranger) is 5mm thick. I know it is unlikely, but if they were to just swap movements and reduce the thickness by 1-1.5mm as a result the pelagos would be my absolute dream dive watch. 12.6mm and titanium would be an absolute dream

    • @GCPlati85
      @GCPlati85 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Good point. But that dream would turn into a nightmare quickly when the watch becomes unobtainable at retail and trades at triple MSRP on the secondary market. You're Terrific said it best ... our brains are broken. So is my heart. I need a new hobby.

      They already managed to make a thinner Pelagos with the FXD, by dropping the water resistance down to 200m and eliminating the helium escape valve. Downside is that it's missing the best in class bracelet and clasp.

    Glad to hear you find the bracelet sharp too. The watch case was too with mine.
    I did the unthinkable and took my dremel and added a small bevel to the edges. Knowingly reducing the value of the watch, but it made all the difference. I did it link by link and under magnification and you won't notice it. Can tell you that I was very nervous doing it though. Glad it worked.
    Only two things that bother me with this watch are the minor misalignment of the bezel insert (hello Seiko) and the spring of the clasp being too stiff to be comfortable. Oh, and it should have been grade 5 titanium

    Some good points here, and I think that was a great pickup on your trip! I see you holding on to this for awhile, but probably not a long term keeper unless it's quirky enough to fit into your collection lifestyle. Regardless, I'm a big fan of the watch and while I don't see them revamping the line anytime soon, I'd like to see them expand the colorway in the future, maybe introduce green or another color.

    Tudor has been doing great with the later releases. I echo the annoyance of a watch running slow vs fast. I have issues with titanium vs steel. Your videos are fabulous and really love your style. I absolutely agree with this probably being one of the best dive watches on the market. They look awesome and I personally love titanium watches. However, I do own the Christopher Ward C60 in blue...and can’t help to find its quality and aesthetics with its value still keeping me happy after the three years I’ve owned it. It also seems to bridge the favorable qualities of the Black Bay 58 blue and blue Pelagos really, really well. Incidentally, I always felt the LHD version was for lefties...but I cannot hold anything against someone liking this particular one better than the typical black and overly bright “Scuba Blue” one-it totally rocks!

    IF one is comfortable in one's own skin and not in any social media induced need of a crown and ROLEX on the dial for self validation, the Pelagos LHD is, IMO, THE perfect watch to own in place of the Submariner AND Sea Dweller. And basically ANY other "dive" watch. Well...except maybe for the fun and quirky P01. The LHD is also a perfect "one watch collection watch" if there ever was such a thing.

    Picked one up yesterday at the boutique in NYC. Wears pretty darn good on my 6.5 inch wrist considering the dimensions. I sent it in today because the date doesn't center in the window. I saw somewhere this is common and fixable. I'm really hoping. Meanwhile the watch ain't on me wrist unfortunately. My vintage Seamaster and GMT line up perfectly in the center of the window. Is this a precise Swiss made time piece or what? Right?

    Great video, as always. I wish I could get past the cream lume on this one. Otherwise, I love it. I'm kind of indifferent on the whole LHD part, but that red text and the roulette date make me swoon for some watch nerd reason. I too would be okay if it were not quite as water resistant, and subsequently thinner. That wouldn't keep me from buying a Pelagos, but it would be nice. I guess the stickiness of the titanium didn't keep you from buying it. I guess I did not have one on at the AD long enough to notice, but I'm going to pay attention to that next time.

    I love the off white markers . Im thinking of getting one and having the movement flipped round to make it RHD . I wonder if it can be rotated around

      @8AP1 ปีที่แล้ว

      It can be flipped no problem, as the dial feet are in the same position when rotated 180 degrees. You are flipping the dial 180 degrees, not the movement, but I'm sure that's what you meant. The only caveat is you'd need to replace the date wheel with a standard Pelagos date wheel, otherwise the date will be upside down. This means means you lose the roulette colours for the date wheel, so if you can live with that, it's 100% doable.

    Is the monoblock index applied to the current Pelagos lhd?

    great video! am thinking about picking one of these up, definitely more unique than the BB58 and not vintagey. Any thoughts on the new Pelagos 39? Will you be selling this for that??

      Love the size of the new but dislike the sunburst dial and brushed bezel. I think a Pelagos looks best with matte finishes.

    Nice vid! I think an interesting comparison would be the Titanium Steinhart Ocean One 500 meter. It is around 12-13 mm thick. Super comfy. $500-600. Ciao!

    Someone probably already quoted, but:"I'd be losing money if I DIDN'T buy a watch, am I right?!" Classic Evan. I always written the Pelegos off, titanium an square hour markers, bleh. But tastes change, I guess, this looks really nice. Been having Rolex/Tudor fatigue lately, but this review is refreshing, thanks🙂👍

    Which bezel action do you think it’s best between LHD and Sinn U50?

    I used to own a pelagos many many years ago, and for the longest time couldn't describe why I sold it...until now. IT IS ✨sticky✨

    I wish they would make the same watch with the crown on the right. I love the yellowish line over the regular black. I just can’t do a crown on the left.
