Great to be able to see close up as there's no access on foot - thanks! I'm always wowed that the now very quiet little village of Bacton would have been heaving with pilgrims from all over Europe back in the day!
Thanks so much for taking the time to comment. In the past it would have been a very popular place and it is sad what has become of it now. However it was still an interesting explore. The WW2 pillbox below the old church was quite a surprise!
It’s the first time I’ve visited a church ruin with a gun battery underneath it. It is a shame about the cross - one has to wonder where it is now. Thanks for tuning in and appreciate the comments as always 🙂
Hi Heather - it’s a shame even little known places such as this can’t escape the graffiti - I think it’s quite old though as mentions the USSR - the old Soviet Union
Hi 🙂. Amazing to think they added a World War 2 pillbox to the base of the church ruin - I guess in war time anything goes - you two would definitely enjoy a trip here - I just asked at the farmhouse first as the ruins lie on private land but they were fine with me visiting 🙂
@@HauntedandAbandonedNorfolk Yeah I was aware it was on private land but didn't know the owner was so accommodating to people wanting to take a look.. I guess sometimes it doesn't hurt to ask.. That pillbox adaption is interesting and similar to the one at Leiston Abbey Chapel on suffolk. Shame about the graffiti though 😕
I’ll have to pay the Leiston Abbey in Suffolk a visit one day. Yes shame about the scrawling graffiti seems no where is safe from that these days unfortunately. The graffiti does mention the USSR (old Soviet Union) so it maybe of significant age perhaps but not necessarily I suppose

fabulous post
Cheers Anton 🙂
I have always wanted to see the ruins. Thank you, that was fascinating.
Hi Michele thanks for watching and pleased you enjoyed the video - the world war 2 pillbox beneath the ruined church was a bit of a surprise 🙂
Gorgeous footage of the Priory, and it's amazing to see the underground bunker. It's just a shame about the graffiti 😢

Often pass by here meaning to research its history and wondered what it looks like close up.. Thanks for showing us 👍😊

Wonderful informative video.
Cheers John appreciated 🙂
That’s amazing to see. Can the general public go & look at these ruins at all? Really interesting, thank you.
It’s on private land so I asked permission to visit at the big farmhouse near the ruins - they were fine with me visiting 🙂
I been there but was so overgrown I couldn’t get to the Croft. Maybe I’ll try again 😊
It’s a really interesting place - especially the WW2 battery underneath - never expected to see that below the church ruin 🙂
Good video
Thank-you
