This is the budget version of the KastKing Kestrel Elite BFS Reel. Cheaper and priced right! But still over braked. Not that bad, perfect for new anglers as you would rarely backlash at 0 brakes. just a tad bit shorter distance!

I have a video showing that Kastking IPT values aren’t exactly correct if you’re using them to calculate distance. You’re getting an over estimation of distance by about 13-15% which is pretty significant. If you want to use an IPT value that’s better try calculating the value using the inner diameter of the spool as they use the outer diameter of the spool. It really doesn’t make sense to BFS folks to calculate distance of line by using an IPT value calculated from the outer diameter of the spool since we never get that much line on our spools to begin with unless you have a super shallow spool. Just wanted to clarify this! Cheers!

@@rawrfishing agreed! IPT is an approximation as it is extremely difficult to get an exact value to use to report distance cast. The spool diameter changes as you increase the amount of line added to the spool. The issue is is that kks IPT goes off the consideration that the spool is full to the max capacity of line which gives you a huge overapproximation. It just makes it seem like the reel has cast much further than it really has and this is my concern with their IPT value being used to calculate distance cast.

GIven that I use braid, the change is minor and I feel that it is perfectly fine to use as approximate. Its not like i need to obtain a measurement for some sort of competition. Besides, BFS isn't made for long distances. As long as I feel comfortable with the cast, I am happy with it.
I understand some folks like to compare casting distances on different reels, but this is an overbraked reel that is not worthy of my time to do so.
Don't shove KK over the cliff brother man. Give them some room to breathe! They are not perfect, but without them, BFS wouldn't been growing as fast on the market as it should be.
@@rawrfishing haha fair enough. I’m not shoving them off any cliffs as well. Just trying to get them to be accountable and up front to their claims as they should. We’re they’re customers and if they’re messing up they should fix things. To their credit, their customer service is top notch. It’s my goal just to keep things as transparent as possible is all! I’m glad they’re making strides forwards and look forward to seeing them making more and more improvements! 🙌🙌🙌
So did you know that KK watches our videos? They are not happy with me right now 😂 . In fact, they told one of my sponsors that I had a fall out with em.. But that's not true as fall out requires a confrontation from the parties... When I denied that, they just flat out said I'm trouble and don't want me to work on the next project they are doing with my sponsor. I came to the conclusion that it must been my recent negative remarks of their bfs products
I'm on the same page as you, trying to improve products for the bfs community, but they don't see it that way unfortunately. Thus I used the pushing off the cliff anology.
So yeah... Long story short... Don't think KK will wanna work with me again in the near future.. After rewatching some of my videos, I could rephrase some of the things I say to be a much softer, yet still get the point through!

How does this compare to the Kestrel? I'm wanting another trout reel. Contemplating an Ark/Haibo at this point.

my guess is that it is around 2.5-2.7 grams. Plastic is super tiny and the jig is 1/16th oz or 1.7x grams

Depends on what aspect. If u need a super strong braking system... This reel wins. If u wanna cast light lures out of the box, this is it. If you wanna handle heavy lures, zephyr wins
