- Hey everyone! These are the clips that automatically made it to iCloud from my phone. Since I lost a lot of footage, I will be mixing up present me with the past me to explain what we're watching and what was going on at the time. My videos will be coming pretty close to real time due to losing footage and also not filming very much during the 5-6 weeks I spent recovering from my injury. Been following you since the beginning of your journey, but have never left a comment. I loved this recent video and I like that format. It is interesting to see what you do when you are off the trail. You are a great inspiration. Keep pushing through. I am a therapist and I have pointed some of my clients to your journey for inspiration and hope. The trail is a great place to organize your thoughts and challenge who you are and what you really want in life. Great job Second Chance - rooting for you!

It is with a heavy heart and tears in my eyes, Joe and I have decided
to close Casa de Luna after the south bounders come through. I have been
trying to write this for a few weeks now, I just couldn't pull the
trigger. It's so final.
For 21 years we have opened our hearts
and our home to stinky people from all over the world. You were never
strangers, you were friends we hadn't met yet. We are so grateful for
for the love and support and most of all the amazing friends we have made.
Joe will be retiring soon, he is going in for another back surgery.
We need to start tossing things out and fixing up the house. We plan on
moving up to Washington after all of this is done.
We are trying
to figure out what to do with all of the painted rocks. We can't haul
all of those with us. I would love to but, we would have to rent extra
Uhaul trucks.
It has been one heck of a ride that's for sure.
It started with 2 the first year then 40, then 80, then 160, and over 2,000 the last 2 years. Oh how this trail has changed.

Thank you SO much for asking what hikers want as trail magic....b/c I want to do trail magic. Instant coffee packets (i.e. Starbucks, Peets, etc) that they could take with them. Drinks that would be different from water. I'd bring a big camp stove to cook eggs, pancakes, bacon, toast and butter. Fresh fruits.

Really enjoyed this! You have no idea how inspiring you are to us people out here who are chained to our jobs, who dream of an escape into the wilderness, even with the risks and what appears to be millions of mosquitoes! Glad you are sharing your story. We are all rooting for you and living vicariously through you, so don't quit!
My wife and I got to get a pic with you and Little Bee at PCT Days. Would loved to have visited with you but didn’t want to bug you guys as we new you were busy. Thanks so much for showing all the hikers and letting them tell a little bit of there story not one else does that. If either of you ever make it back thru Bend we have a big house and your always welcome to stay.... Cheers and happy hiking 🥾
I just recently discovered your TH-cam channel. The first video that I watched was The End, but I have now went back and watched them from the beginning to here. “Just 95 lbs” is a wonderful weight loss, and barely able to hike 3 miles to almost 20 in a day is awesome. I am 63 yrs old and occasionally do day hikes in Missouri and Arkansas. 8 miles is a long hike for me. 😁 I admire your determination and staying on the trail to the end, even after your back injury, definitely deserves one of those big hugs that you love to give and receive. You’re right! I was just being funny. I guess it depends where you live. I used to live in the Tri-Cities, Richland, that was mostly desert. 😊

Everything about what you are seeing and doing is enjoyable to watch! It helps others to feel like part of the journey. Love the amazing views as well as your very positive attitude through it all. I have done some section hikes of the PCT but am unable to hike this year due to a bum knee. Those who can't get out there for whatever reason (or even those who can) are able to appreciate the good days and bad days and all of the challenges found on your journey. So appreciative of you sharing part of your life and being so real! Hope you realize the inspiration you are to so many. Big hugs to you.

Just found your videos because of following a full time RVer that is doing the trail. I just want to say you are awsome! You are not only a sweetheart of a man, but you got your courage up and took on something HUGE (it sounds like without experience). Happy hiking! I hiked from Campo, CA, to Santiam Pass in 1999 with my brother and our friend. We didn't have trail names back then, just our real ones. I hope your back feels better. The PCT will always be part of you and who you are.

You look so good compared to day one, brother keep up the good work, fitness is my everything and these efforts you and others make are very important to me since I am not able to pursue these dreams of mine at this current time in my life.
I have hiked and backpacked extensively in the past including climbing and mountaineering in the past, and I also suffer from back pain, in 2018 after almost a decade if lying in bed from pain I found Joshua Tree crossfit and got back into being an athlete.
Prior to crossfit I never expected to carry a pack ever again, and now I am inspired by your effort and journey.

I really like the style of this video for you. I like the intro/outro in "real time" that give the summary and conclusion. It gives somewhat of a narration feel to it, which I am not a huge fan of in films, but with hiking videos it not only works, but feels right.
Stylistic opinion aside, I love watching your progress on trail. You are doing wonderful things for yourself and I am happy to say that between you and Dixie, I have been inspired to start planning a thruhike of a trail. I think I am going to start off small with the Foothills Trail in the Carolinas. I tried for a 4 day trip in Wayne National Forest recently, but lack of proper preparation led to huge blisters and legs that did not want to move after about 15 miles (in less than 24 hours). I did not let that take away from my desire to disappear into the woods though, lol. All it did was make me realize the mistakes I made and encourage me to change my plan of action, so that next time I do better.
I am truly inspired by you and cannot wait to get out there and hit the trail.
Hah! I finally caught up! I started watching your vids in April. I started with your first & all I can say is you are inspiring. I managed to lose 65 lbs last year, but I gained most of it back this year (it's such a struggle) and watching your progress with not just your weight loss, but also your fitness has been spurring me on to not give up!! All I can say is you are awesome and I can't wait to see where your journey takes you, whether it is to the end of the PCT or back to the Sierras or wherever! I am just so happy that you chose to bring us along. BTW, Dixie is also one of my heroes (And Darwin & Baskets & Peewee). I've been hiking a lot these past few years & watching you guys is giving me future goals and has inspired me to start putting todether the gear to start backpacking myself. Thank you so much!!

OMG! It's Quickstart! The one who gave me my trail name last year on the JMT, "Binonculars"!
When you finish the trail, you could totally have a chanel where each year you live in the trail during peak hiking time, and just interview hikers, or do what FreshGround does on the AT, and get donations and become the ultimate trail angel while interviewing hikers....you are so good and fun, when you do your interviews. Whatever you do after you leave the trail, I’m sure you will be successful at it....just as long as you do what you love.
