I have almost the like object, LEVI rapped 1x2 blocks. I just rap the 4 sides and do not worry about the ends. I just need to cut a strip a little wider than the wood block. My choose of fastener is a a few shots with the staple gun. I soak them in mineral spirts to clean paint off the top of the rails before and after weathering the track.
@@splitrock323 I just use one of the small little spike puller crowbar things aka a chip lifter. or in most cases just another scrap wood from the scrap wood box. Crap I think you just got another sponsor, The Scrap Wood Box...? Every one should have a scrap wood box :) :) :)

That sounds like a great tool. I liked the staple idea at first, but it was difficult for me to remove.
