The material is more rigid than you might think...it keeps the stick-hit noise down but responds pretty well. It responds just about the same as my commercial edrum set,

Pretty much. I connected the output of the pads directly to the "brain" of one of those inexpensive drum kits and it worked great.

Hi. The piezo elements create a trigger signal. Your software (ProTools), or your keyboard need MIDI signals. So, you need a trigger to MIDI interface, like the Alesis Trigger IO. This is the case for any edrum pads. If you don't have one, you need to either get one, or consider getting an edrum kit that includes a controller that outputs both audio and MIDI.

I used those interlocking floor mats, the kind that are used in kids' rooms or basements or garages. You can find them at your local big box store (Home Depot, Walmart, Target, etc.).

I use those mats you put on the floor of your garage or workout area. They usually come in 2' x 2' squares.

Search for "puzzle floor mat". You can probably pick some up at your local big box store, or pick up a single 2 x 2 foot tile at a local garage sale.

can you make these pads and then make an acoustic drum casing around it so it'll look like you're playing an acoustic set?

Hello brodafin... I have 12 Piezos and I own a ( Yamaha DD55 that has been modified with 7 triggers input) it acts like any drums module. I tried it before with a trigger pad and worked fine. I wanted to make like those pads in your video. The guy who sold me the piezos said that they are 20mm and they are transducers and are good for drums trigger. i like your video and would need some advice. thanks

+Quevon Wallace Best to get an inexpensive one; soldering is the best way to electrically connect things together.
