The Subnautica games are a series of open-world underwater survival games developed and published by Unknown Worlds Entertainment.
Set on the fictional Planet 4546B, the original Subnautica follows the story of Ryley Robinson, the only survivor of the crash of the Aurora, as he tries to survive on the alien planet, investigate the crash, and return home.
Subnautica: Below Zero takes place two years after the first game. Robin Ayou travels to 4546B to learn the true fate of her sister and crash-lands in the icy Sector Zero.
Both Subnautica and Below Zero are available on Windows and Mac (through Steam or Epic Games, or Microsoft for Windows only), PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Series S/X, and Nintendo Switch.

You need to stock up on materials like lead,copper,titanium and and other common materials then get a oxygen tank that lasts a minute or so then get the seamoth and go to the aurora after the sunbeam transfers escape rocket codes to leave the planet and dont pass up on scanning blueprints to get more titanium also make a scanner and seaside as fast as you can

Only ONE tip is really needed for this game... Read EVERYTHING in your PDA and pay attention to what you read and hear... That is THE major problem people have playing this game... Oh, one more thing... SCAN EVERYTHING once you get a scanner...

This game is awesome, enjoy it to the fullest.
Don't look up anything online, spoilers really ruin the games experience, and in this game, anything can be a spoiler. Read the games pda, about plants, animals, blueprints, everything. Even scanning your basic fish will reveal story b that will help you understand your environment. This is not a game that guides you with cut scenes, it guides you with scanned data. That databank tab will be your friend. If you are lost and confused. Don't use the internet, use the databank. Always. And again, we can't stress this enough, SCAN EVERYTHING. It will make things easier.
I'd also warn you to avoid too many comments. This game is well crafted and is not supposed to tell you it's scary from the beginning. So just try and get your information from the pda. I'm seeing a lot of people say things you shouldn't see from the comments, but from the game by experience first.
In fact, on the subject of avoiding spoilers, there's a big one you need to watch out for.
They're called "Time Capsules."
It's kinda spoilery to admit they even exist, but they can ruin a blind playthrough big-time, so you need to know to watch out for them.
Basically, people who complete the game can leave 'gifts' to future players of the game.. things like equipment or supplies, photos, and words of advice or encouragement. That's the idea, at least. In practice, what tends to happen is you can acquire late/end-game gear far too near the start of the game, thereby ruining the normal progression which is such a fundamental part of the experience. And that's what Subnautica is, an experience, not just a game.
It's your call, but most people will tell you to avoid TCs when you encounter them.
@@Garryck-1 I will say, yes that is possible, but let's be honest. These are reviewed by people and usually don't spoil most of the time. So if he wants to collect them, there are some nice little things with them, so it kinda on the fence with them. I liked them on my first playthrough.

It's always cool to see a person new to Subnautica! Here's a few tips:
1. Explore everything you see: The game has almost no handholding, so going everywhere you can and learning is crucial for gameplay. Feel free to take your time though, as this game is not meant to be rushed through. Curiosity in this game is your enemy, but it is also your best friend.
2. Scan & Read: As people have already mentioned in the comments, databank entries are one of the main ways to navigate the game and learn about the plot and lore.
3. Beware: "Sharks" do exist in some shape and form in the game, but they aren't your biggest concern on this planet ;)

Few tips. One I recommend having two air tanks on you. One on you and one in inventory. It'll help so much! And two get an air bladder as soon as you can! It's so useful if you need a fast way up or an extra 15 seconds of O2! Great video! I love watching new people play my favorite game❤❤

Your video popped up on my recommended so I was like "´This is one of my most favorite games of all time! Let's see how this guy likes it."
I'd also give you the tip of scanning and reading. Those things are pretty important for the first game, especially for understanding the story/lore. And if you enjoyed this, try Subnautica: Below Zero! :) It's shorter and easier, but the story is fleshed out better.
Also, but you did that already, pin some recipes of things you need/want to craft. Sometimes it helps to pin the ingridients (if they need to be crafted) too!
Always keep an eye on your oxygen-level and rather swim to the surface than trying to find those plants that give you oxygen.
One last tip: Enable the "PDA Pause" Option, or whatever it is called. That way the game pauses every time you go through your inventory. Even though I've played this game a lot, I stil use that function. It makes everything much more enjoyable.

Settings >Options>Accessibility>Pause PDA: This will allow you to read information picked up or scanned without worry about food/water/air or any shark-like creature that may/may not exist.
Holster Tool [E] when not in use to swim faster.
Swimming on the surface is faster than underwater. Note: You be able to see anything underneath this way, so use this method just when wanting to go from point A to point B quickly.
When searching area:
- Don't swim on the ocean floor. Be about 10m up to get a better view of the area.
- When swimming, point the camera downward on an angle and use [W] plus [SPACE] to go forward while searching the floor. NOTE: [SPACE] is to ascend [C] to descend.
Bladderfish: (Pink Flounders) Used to make water. Also, get one to make an air bladder. (It will rocket you to the surface). Eating one raw will cost a few thirst points but give you 15 seconds of air.
At night, the sun's location can be estimated by looking at the closest moon. Once you see where it comes up at dawn, you can figure out how much time you have until daylight. It is around a 20-minute day cycle with only around 1/3 being night. Although, it FEELS like it is mostly night.
Fumble and Bumble: The game is very forgiving with multiple ways to achieve your goal.
The water looks pretty. Love the underwater aspects of it.

Tips:
The disinfected water is much better than filtered water. It is cheap and better value for inventory space
Copper is your best friend
The moonpool is something you need for preliminary upgrades
Building a base with reactors is much better than using solar panels.
Read everything in your PDA
Scan everything

I remember this game when it came out! There was basically not many things to do, but the buildup content was worthy, new biomes, things to do, to build, the vehicles are also amazing.
You can follow the main quest line, and you also need to unlock tech's by scanning them (the wreck of the Aurora), some you only need to scan once, others need more scans, 2, 3 or 4 scans. But usually you can find those techs all in the same biome. Some techs can be found on those crates, a few are open in the back. Not every piece of ship wreck is part of te map, some you can interact with.
"I hate to find a shark equivalent." - You just swim by 2 on your way to get the vines for the silicon. But they are not so bad.
Tips: NEVER go to the back of the aurora and go to the giant coral tube to get lots of limestone

The way you instantly knew where to look for the repair tool in the fabricator menu immediately made me sceptical that this is your first playthrough because most first time players usually struggle navigating the fabricator menu until they familiarise themselves with it. When you purposely drowned yourself at 11:35 by not swimming to the surface that was literally 15m above you and took up half of your screen I knew something was up. Even if you've never played this game before, surely every person who has ever interacted with water must know what the surface looks like when they are underwater. When you encountered your like 10th crashfish at 14:11 and suddenly forgot about their behaviour, I became even more sceptical that this was authentic. The types of mistakes you make seem very fishy(pun intended) for a first time player. I love watching first time playthroughs of Subnautica because it allows me to vicariously experience the game again for the first time through other people, and I was excited when I got recommended this video, but now I'm not sure anymore.
First off, sorry I disappointed you 🫤
1. The video is edited. So when you see me going through the fabricator for the repair tool, that wasn’t necessarily my first time.
2. I didn’t purposely drown myself. I thought the purple oxygen plant thingy was closer than the surface. I panicked and made a miscalculation.
3. As for the fish thing, I was simply watching it come out of the plant lol. The others were on the walls, and I was moving too quickly to actually look at them. But this one came out of the plant right in front of me and I got a good moment to actually look at it.
Anyways, I’m really enjoying the game so far. It’s loads of fun
@@JaySwayGaming Apologies for my harsh criticism. I didn't take into account that you edited out some of your first encounters with critical mechanics of the game. Those are some of the things that make first time playthroughs the most interesting. Your playthrough was very entertaining all things considered so I don't want to discourage you. I would maybe advise to put an emphasis on keeping the parts where you figure mechanics out, because that's just as important part of the journey :)

Felicia phobia is the fear of open water or the sea creatures in it. This game most definitely triggers it.
I will never forget playing this with my GearVR in VR and getting crushed in the sea moth by a giant reaper that scared me so bad that a yelled the F word so loud. Biggest scare of any horror game I ever played. Unforgettable.

I think the cinematic graphics setup is the best and I suggest you to set gamepause when the PDA is open.

Edit: You probably already figured this out but if not, look for the seaweed with yellow berries!
First thing to do, get an oxygen tank, next thing to do, get another oxygen tank, then improve your oxygen tanks to the next level. Because you will drown eventually, but with another oxygen tank, you can clutch a death by quickly swapping an empty oxygen tank, with a fresh one.
Too many times have I seen people who have played the game hundreds of hours with just a single oxygen tank.
Rise above the breathless masses.
Subnautica is a perfect mix of Sci-fi, Horror, exploration and survival. Be sure to dive deeper and further but watch out for the Void
If you like survival games, 'Pacific Drive' is amazing survival game where you fix up and drive a car around in a scary world!!

for food problems you can actually pick up fish and they will unlock recipes in the fabricator for food and they give a good amount of calories.
If you go to the big ship there is a friendly alien that will help you complete the game

You can make a tank with higher Oxgen capacity, also those red one eyeds fish leaves a sulfur powder on it’s nest
Make a scanner and collect all the rocks on the walls you see
A quick important tip no spoiler dont worry. When u come a cross areas that look abit more important then your basic wreck make sure to look around VERY thoroughly so that u dont miss anything. It is sadly possable to kinda softlock the game progress if u miss what i´m refering to. If u know u missed it u can ofc go back for it but thats the issue, the game never tells u if u miss it or where it is and it can only be found in 1 place. So long as u dont rush and just do a proper search u shouldent miss it despite its location.
If ppl think they know what i´m refering to plz dont reply as that tends to leave spoilers the more ppl reply. If u still cant hold it in then mark it with a big SPOILER WARNING and several rows blank so he wont se it.

"Subnautica": Not a TLDR game. Amazing, you're the first player to exit via the underwater hatch. Two problems in the early game: Figuring out what to do next and forgetting what you were doing and why. Make basic tools ASAP.

I underestimated how useful and in-depth the games PDA system is. Normally survival games feed you generic tutorial lists to get you started. But I was wrong
The Aurora is a radioactive zone you need the radiation suit to go there

Have you even played Outer Wilds? If you haven't its a space game that is best played with the least amount of spoilers possible. If you love astrology youll love Outer Wilds.

That's easy. The storage bin in the Pod has some bottled water along with the ration cubes, however, he only has the single bottle of water left in his inventory, and none of the Rations as he mentioned when his hunger went down.
Grab a fish with your hands!! - make the better swim equipment quick!

No offense intended but honestly, it kind of feels like you're badly pretending to have never seen this game before. Or any survival crafting game ever. Passing up resource nodes when the action button shows up in the middle of the screen multiple times like you can't see them (and rock nodes full of metal is a standard survival game trope), looking for creep vines as a forest of them clearly sway beside you, starving while surrounded by fish and asking out loud how you'll ever find food, ignoring the scrap metal all over the sea floor, and drowning by not swimming up the 2 feet to the surface. It's okay to admit you know about the game. We'll still watch and enjoy it. Blind playthroughs are cool and all but not a necessity.
I’m sorry to disappoint you 😒 all I can say is that this is in fact my first time playing. Your feedback is fair, tho. I think I just need to slow down and take in my surroundings. I sometimes move too fast and miss important things.
