    I think of the recent patch helldivers has really improved on the balancing of the game design and has the made the game way more fun

    To give credit to developers and as you sort of touched on, understanding how design concept will be received is basically impossible outside of established franchises from well documented studios. It has to be one of the toughest jobs in the gaming industry.

    being a fan of Payday then caught up in the Helldivers 2 hype, then Sony bs, then the Nerfmania.
    Being a coop shooter fan was rough in 2024

    Great video. I've dabbled in making mods. Develpoment vs player mentality is not just hard to reconcile their almost antithetical to each other. One is play the other is work. Balancing is a process of opening and closing a game over and over again. Testing one thing at a time. I don't even want to get into why and the interconnected nature of code. For devs it's a game of whack a mole. And omg live service is another moster to discuss.

    I know nothing about these series, but I do understand the idea of unbalance in the gaming experience. Trying to find adjustments to vary the arsenal loadouts and play styles can be quite the task. When patches favor one style over the other and continue to make it unfair, they will lose the player base.

      -No one is using A gun
      -lets increasy A gun dmg by X% and add Y ammo
      It's literally that easy.

    I havent played payday 3 but helldivers wasnt fun when 28 mlrs bots were chasing me and i was in perma ragdoll.

      @@DaOideRassl it was steep indeed but nothing close as "unplayable" like the shitters said everywhere. I never failed a single super helldive operations even with randoms and i do some goofy shit like not taking red stratagems at all, so no meta chasing at all. This said i don't know why people wanted to make MY gameplay easier and overall less fun when they could have just stepped 1 or 2 difficulties below

      @@DaOideRassl I'm happy if *everyone* finds it more fun, for me and the friends who played it with me until now it's, well, more trivial and "less" fun because you need to put half the effort to do things. I could solo a bugbreach or a dropship alone, but it would have taken a lot of sweat and the smallest error would have killed the helldiver. Those stakes were fun. Now all of us just split in 4 and clear map while talking about shit and giggles. Still fun, don't take me wrong, but you know, less rewarding and well... less fun. We still gonna play it, but we are surely going to miss those "against all odds" moments. And i wanna stress that we never were meta monkeys

    I hope the optimization gets improved for HD2 I feel like with the most recent patch its really messed with how it performs

    funny how I just got back into both games a couple of days ago
    probably the same time this video got released lol
    god dude what sucked is that knowing PD2 was so good, there was no reason for PD3 to flunk so hard
    so I got Gold Edition

      I doesnt excuse pd3 but pd2 was aaasss on launch and years after. Even when content caught up it was expensive and the balancing and difficulty design was very problematic. The good part about this is that it means that there is hope for pd3 if the devs truly lock in

    This feels like a huge excuse letter to these games. Ignoring that no one wanted the pace change for and arrowheads idiotic deals with sony.
    Your take on helldivers feel is off by quite a bit. Helldivers are genuinely elite soldiers. I mean, if they were that expendable, why are the strike teams only four people. Why are they given entire destroyers. Why are they proped up by in-game news to be the hope of humanity. Being a helldiver is like being a space marine. You may be awesome, but the enemies are iuat as if not more dangerous. Balancing around the fact you are facing a force outnumbering you 10 to 1 should be enough to justify weapons being genuinely strong enough to deal with that threat.
    Payday 3 and its systems were designed like they wanted to make payday 2 mobile and it shows. The absolute garbage that is progression and customization, as well as lack of missions despite having two games full of ideas to draw from is insane. When deciding to make a game slow and steady, you almost always have to focus on making the missions and systems in those missions applicable to that style. Yet payday 3 says no to that philosophy and instead gives you a watered-down payday 2 system that basically forces you to run the only perks that make it feel like payday 2 again.
    Both of these studios failed to see that they already had winning formulas and decided that what players really wanted was a sludgy grind of suffering. Both games deserve what they are going through and will only bounce back because they are bothering to finally see exactly what they threw away.

      You are wrong about the helldivers. Helldivers are just cannon fodder. Hell did you play the tutorial? They mock you from start to end in which they put you under icecubes and slap you in orbit with hundreds of others, and all of them got called "best helldivers i ever saw!". Helldivers is heavily inspired by starship troopers. You are a big propaganda hero until you get chop up, and that was the direction of the game. This said, now even superhelldive is too fucking easy. I don't actually know why everyone was crying for months about the difficulty, i NEVER used meta shit and NEVER lost a single super helldive operation, and some times i do some goofy shit like not even putting a single red stratagem. But now even difficulty 10 is like a bland shooting gallery, no more "using hellpods on the heads of bile titans" since i can OHK all of them chargers and biles with an EAT, no more strategizing around hulks because they... just die now

      unironically H2 should have had gatcha mechanics so you could buy currecy to get overpowered weapons and cool cosmetics. That would bring them so much money.

      @aldocarulli3054 idk what game you're playing, but the difficulty was never killing one large enemy but that they always had like 10 spawn at once, and you couldn't spawn weapons that fast. And yes, you are elite. And even if not there is zero reason not to have made it so you have ai followers that you switch between as you die, both solving the too weak for an elite team problem and the doing a multiplayer that large would be challenging problem. They straight up did not try in the beginning.
      As for it being too easy NOW, idk i stopped playing after the Sony bullshit
