Thanks for this because I see so many people spending a lot on electrolytes when they don’t need to. If not getting it from food already, this is the next most simple way
So I have to say something that I noticed especially with this being a carnivore channel......the recipe looks great overall and am excited to try but I personally have been supplementing with magnesium "glycinate" since it is the one magnesium type that seems to have the best absorption rate among all of the magnesium types with no downside. So when I saw your magnesium type was "malate" I had not seen that type out of the several kinds I have studied up on. So when I looked up magnesium "malate" it actually stated that "glycinate" and "malate" BOTH have great absorption rates but what I found odd is why would you choose "malate" over "glycinate" when magnesium "malate" only binds to the non essential amino acid malic acid which are ONLY found in plant based products vs. magnesium "glycinate" only binds to the non essential amino acid glycine which are ONLY found in animal based products....in addition, although BOTH magnesium types are considered to absorb well, magnesium glycinate absorbs quite a bit better than magnesium malate. The only reason that it seemed that you chose "malate" is due to the digestive rate but I have not found any material that claims the malate digest easier than glycinate so unless you have had personal experience with problematic digestion with glycinate than I can understand why you chose malate. I haven't had any issues with glycinate personally. Also notice that on the bag of magnesium malate....looking at the "other" ingredients list, it states that there is magnesium "oxide" which is another form of magnesium that has a POOR absorption rate....so the question is, on that particular product...how much of that bag is magnesium malate and how much is oxide??? I will look for a brand that has ONLY magnesium glycinate with no other types or ingredients mixed in. So with that research, I will be swapping out the magnesium with "glycinate" instead of "malate". I want to make it clear that I'm didn't make this comment for any other reason than for those who want to go with the magnesium type that has the best absorption rate instead of just good absorption.

Yeh. When I started carnivore diet I resolved not to buy pre-made electrolyte powders or beverages. I found an LMNT type recipe online and I've been having that for the last 8+ months (literally, the same batch for the last 8 months). I figure I will make another batch in time for the new year. Himalayan salt is bad. It's got heavy metals, including lead, in it. It also has radioactive elements in it. Celtic salt is not as bad as the pink salt, but it is also not good.
A $500 annual savings is massive, considering that with shipping, it's somewhere in the $550 range. Also, the raspberry is my favorite. It tastes like a salty yogurt. I mix it with 32 ounces of water, though.
@momof2al I wrote it down after doing the math. The salt at 3 12 once bags will last just over a year. Some of the other ingredients in the best price point per ounce will last almost 3 years. You'll just buy salt again next year and flavor as you want or need it.
I use Celtics sea salt, no salt salt for potassium, 1 cup coconut water, 1 cup water, 2tbsp lime juice, dash of cayenne pepper, 4 drops 2% Lugol's Iodine
There are radioactive elements in salts all over the world. That's why it's processed. That's why Morton, Maldon, Jacobsen, and other companies clean their salts. Speaking a truth is not an attack against you personally because you live in Oregon. It you want to keep eating dirty salt then do it. It's not good for you though.
I have always been concerned that they don't specify the source of sodium on the LMNT packaging. Is it Morton salt or sea salt? I would think if they were using a premium sodium source they would advertise that as a selling point.
Thank you sooo soo much for the video Bella! I'm really grateful for the links to the supplements and minerals, turns out non of then ship to Norway... Hopefully i find the equivalent that ships here :D
You mentioned in the video that the packet is approximately one heaping teaspoon, but then you suggest only adding a heaping half teaspoon of the homemade version. Is this correct? Thank you for posting this video! I'm looking forward to giving it a try.
I literally just researched LMNT and the price was a no bueno for me. When I trained for my marathon and mini-marathons years ago, I used Ultima replenisher which you can get at Whole Foods or Amazon. I think Target also has. I ordered that since I just started on Carnivore so hope it works as well as LMNT. And Ultima doesn't have maltodextrin either.
I've found that it actually does. One tip I got from Dr. Berg is to mix some of the powder you want to test with water and put a couple drops of iodine in it. If it turns blue or purple, it has maltodextrin. It tried my ultima raspberry lemonade flavor and it turned dark blue. Flavored powders often use maltodextrin as the flavor carrier.
Bella, is there any downside to substituting Potassium Citrate for Chloride and is the amount used the same? I need all the Potassium Citrate I can get to help prevent kidney stones that I'm prone to getting every couple of years. Also, how much lime powder do you recommend adding? Thanks!
My kidney stones would get so big I could not pass them and every 4-6 years I’d have surgery to remove them…I was sent a video by Sally K. Norton and learned about oxalates and foods (fruits and vegetables) - since going high protein and cutting out fruits and veggies I haven’t had kidney stones requiring surgery in 12 years!
@@MaryOKC -Thanks Mary, agreed! Spinach was one of the few vegetables I liked, (I always got my chicken, fish, etc, on a bed of spinach) till I found out it was one of the highest oxalate foods! I basically do a high protein/ketovore diet now and things are much better. I still eat small amount of almonds (but blanched without the husks) and blueberries with plain greek yogurt. I definitely believe the mega-doses of potassium citrate helps a lot. I stopped taking them for two years and the stones were back. Now, stone free for 5 years and running with the potassium supplements and Ketovore diet.
Bella this is an off topic question but thought I’d ask anyway. I’m a 44y/o female in perimenopause and have gained nearly 20lbs in two years. I walk daily and lift 2-4x/week. Have you seen the perimenopause population have good weight loss results with carnivore?

Bella - the recommended magnesium malate is not available in Canada. How do we evaluate a different brand to ensure that it’s a good quality magnesium malate?
I would like to see all of your research on all of these powders.. I am very dubious of bulk supplements as most of it comes from China and as we know, there’s a lot of contamination coming in from China. Also, I would like to see your research on the metals in salt with the breakdown of the heavy metals. Paul Saladino just did a video on the dangers of salt and this brand was not one of the safe ones he listed. diamond crystal he found had 0% metals in them.😊

Gerolsteiner mineral water is from Germany and is pretty high in minerals and you can get a case from traders joes like 15 bottles for close to $40
I have always been concerned that they don't specify the source of sodium on the LMNT packaging. Is it Morton salt or sea salt? I would think if they were using a premium sodium source they would advertise that as a selling point.
You can't use anything salted anymore, because they could be putting any salt with radioactive elements in it, and you just don't know.
Those drinks look good! Definitely have to try!
This is AWESOME! I just began and feel a little crappy!!!!😊
Thank you sooo soo much for the video Bella! I'm really grateful for the links to the supplements and minerals, turns out non of then ship to Norway... Hopefully i find the equivalent that ships here :D
You can hit the Tare button to zero the scale before adding the next ingredient. HTH 😊
Bella…why don’t you use Redmonds salt? Really curious bc so many in this space do. Thx!!
New subscriber! Thanks for in information and the recipe!
magnesium glysinate is the most bioavailable one
Sleepytime
Been carnivore for years, but started cycling again today and really felt like I could have used something extra.
@steakandbuttergal What’s your thoughts on getting electrolytes and other nutrients from bone broth?
Why not Redmond Salt?
I was wondering the same thing
It’s just her preference. Use this as a guideline and adjust it to your preferences.
They found heavy metals, dr saladino talked about it in his channel
@@Stan6053oh no! Don’t know this 😢
@@loretta6089 she always recs it, why not now?...
So are we not using Redmonds realsalt now?
Magnesium glycinate is actually the easiest on the gut. Definitely not malate
EXCELLENT info! Thanks!
Bella but aren’t fresh raspberries not good due to sugar carbs from fruit? I like this idea btw. Will make the lime recipe and gonna try lime too.
good idea to make it instead of buying it, but why so much salt and so little magnesium? The ratio seems a bit off.
Is it 1 teaspoon oer serving, or a 1/2 tsp?
Where do I get the corn sugar to make the LMNT?
If I’m getting plenty of salt in my diet, is there any reason to keep it in the electrolyte mix?
Hi Bella, I have a question. Why the need of lemon/lime powder? Isn't it easier to just use fresh squeezed lemon or lime juice?
You mentioned in the video that the packet is approximately one heaping teaspoon, but then you suggest only adding a heaping half teaspoon of the homemade version. Is this correct? Thank you for posting this video! I'm looking forward to giving it a try.
She misspoke. She was holding a half teaspoon measure.
Thank you!!!! I've been looking for something exactly like this :D
Excellent Channel...Thanks for all your help ...🌷 God Bless
Great idea looks delicious!
Thanks for your video... Yes, let's get people an alternative to the very over-priced poor quality LMNT.
Excellent video Bella!
Thank you! I can't wait to try this.
It’s LOW in metals bc it’s been STRIPPED of minerals.
I use Vancouver island I believe it is.
Not all minerals are good. There's a reason they clean salt.
I think potassium Citrat is btw better available to the body and brings less irritation to the digestive system with it
Bella, is there any downside to substituting Potassium Citrate for Chloride and is the amount used the same?
Thanks Bella. Very helpful.
@Steak and Butter Gal Could you please clarify why you chose Magnesium Malate and not citrate or any of the other ones. Thank you in advance.
The company lied. That’s unethical. Period. I’ll never support an unethical company once I know about it.
Absolutely 💯
Which company?
I agree with you. It looks like Bella sold out. She would make a good politician. (That is not a compliment, in case you were wondering).
Bella this is an off topic question but thought I’d ask anyway. I’m a 44y/o female in perimenopause and have gained nearly 20lbs in two years. I walk daily and lift 2-4x/week. Have you seen the perimenopause population have good weight loss results with carnivore?
I would hope so...I ordered lmmt after your recommendation and never received them after 2 months. Keep getting thanks for joining messages. I finally had to deny the charge and stop the card. I'm moving awY from online purchased. Too many times it is a scam or you get your information stolen. Shalom!
Thank you for the measurements 😊
I heard Cream of Tarter is a good source of ‘Potassium,… can I use this instead, since I already have it my cabinet ⁉️
Thank you! Less waste!!! All the individual packets is environmentally more harmful.
I would like the teaspoon, tablespoon type measurements please.
Redmans salt from Utah
Heard redmans was contaminated baja gold seems better
Bella - the recommended magnesium malate is not available in Canada. How do we evaluate a different brand to ensure that it’s a good quality magnesium malate?
I would like to see all of your research on all of these powders.. I am very dubious of bulk supplements as most of it comes from China and as we know, there’s a lot of contamination coming in from China. Also, I would like to see your research on the metals in salt with the breakdown of the heavy metals. Paul Saladino just did a video on the dangers of salt and this brand was not one of the safe ones he listed. diamond crystal he found had 0% metals in them.😊
I'm sure you could find something for and against just like anything in life
Bulk Supplements is third-party tested and you can ask them for the results
The snap ware comes in different sizes. What size did you use? 1 cup.. 2 cup..??
I have been taking a stevia sweetened preworkout powder. Any suggestions for a cleaner more carnivore friendly substitute, especially for the early morning workouts? Please don’t say just plain water. 😊
Careful with artificial sweeteners they destroy your microbiome overtime, when stevia became a thing I replaced real sugar for a year now I'm back to maple syrup/honey or preferably nothing.
LMNT just called out for having Maltodextrin in their products.
Making my own it's cheaper got the stuff gonna start Monday
I buy potassium bhb and magnesium bhb from bulk supplements. Your thoughts?
Awesome thanks Bella!
That’s why we love you gal!!!
