Thanks a lit for making this video!!! I have easily 30 years looking everywhere for this particular recipe that I did when I was taking lessons as a baker but the written recipe was not given to us because it was not an original from the teacher, as all the recipes that she gave us, it was from her german boss’s coffee shop. THANKYOU!!!!
This is EXACTLY what I have been searching for to try! Looks absolutely scrumptious and easy to make. 100 percent my dream fruitcake that's generous on the candied fruit and nuts and looks super moist. I can't wait to attempt for the holidays! Thank you for the awesome walkthrough!!
Amen, exactly what I've been looking for too! Thanks so much Restless Chipotle!!! This is my sister-in-law's fruitcake, it was heavenly. We loved fruitcake and her's was by far the best ever. Long ago I asked if she shared her recipe, and she sent a plain fruitcake recipe, it wasn't hers at all. Thank you soooo much for sharing yours!!!
Helpful hint: to make the baking paper easily fit your pan, first crumple the baking paper tightly and unfold it. So much easier to fit fully into the corners of the pan. Thanks for the recipe!
Thank YOU for posting this video. This fruitcake is like the one I’ve been craving made by COSTCO but … they are no longer making them. I made this and it turned out just as I was imagining. Deliscious❤ Hint: I put my pecans in a Qt freezer bag then assaulted the bag with my hands breaking the pecans into smaller chunks. Very easy and no mess.
I made this today, it is truly delicious and better than the King Arthur recipe I tried last year. I did add 1 tsp ginger, 1 tsp cinnamon, and 1/4 tsp nutmeg. I will make this recipe again.
I followed your recipe exactly as shown, and I am really amazed and happy with how this fruit cake turned out. I never had a fruit cake this good ANYWHERE. Thank you so much for sharing your recipe with us. I served mine warm with honey drizzled on top. Thanks again!
I made this fruit cake yesterday I didn’t have any wax paper so I sprayed both pans heavy with cooking spray and turned the pans upside down to cool. One pan completely released itself onto the cooling rack and the pan was clean. The second cake needed a little loosening on the sides with a no stick egg turner and then it released itself onto the cooling rack. Amazing cake I need to adjust the cooking time because of tough sides and end it was too hard to eat but still an Amazingly easy recipe and wonderful flavor. Thank you for taking time to share. ❤
I finally made this fruitcake. I did have my reservations mainly the omission butter (lol) but this turned out to be wonderful and the best part is it gets better in flavor with age--especially after lightly glazing it with rum every three weeks or so. This reminds me of my aunt's fruit cake bars she makes with vanilla wafers which are delicious too
This is like my mother’s recipe but she add figs and grape juice. She found the recipe in a magazine in 1960. It is delicious. I still have her recipe. I have made for or 50 years.
I will try this for sure. Looks delicious! I love the fact it does NOT have spices in it. I DON’T care at all for nutmeg, cinnamon etc…that you often see in fruit cake recipes.
I'm gonna try this recipe this coming week! I already candied my own pineapple and sour cherries and they turned out fabulous especially the pineapple!
Using some of the flour that goes into the fruitcake, toss the dates with it, you'll have much less sticking together. Nice job, this reminds me of my icebox fruitcake, one that isn't cooked, the cake part is graham cracker crumbs and sweetened condensed milk.
@@70sladyalways25 Here you go, when I say to let several hours or overnight, just cover well, won't hurt to sit out overnight if you do this later in the evening. This is the same recipe my mom uses. She puts a cheese cloth over with the cake in the cake cover and pour alcohol over to moisten it. It is so good. No you don’t get drunk. The alcohol evaporates. My mom only uses the candied red and green cherries.
I just found your Fruitcake recipe. I think it’s the one I’ve been looking for and wanting. I didn’t grow up with fruitcake but I love it. I will make it maybe not for this Christmas but I will add it to my holiday baking list! I just returned two fruitcakes I ordered from Costco online that were not good. My problem this year is I have not been able to find the candied cherries in any of the stores I shop at. ( and this is the only time of the year I usually find them!) I know I can look on Amazon but I don’t want to do that just just, thanks for sharing your fruitcake recipe! It looks wonderful!
Hi Mary, love your recipes! I’m a new subscriber and I am enjoying your show. I have a suggestion. Girl, get you some of those big a$$ Amish stainless bowls! I got some and it makes life so much easier!
Just seen your cracking vid and loved it it's a wee bit different from the one i make would you like to try a British full fruit Christmas/wedding cake keep up yer guid work from bonnie Scotland thanks and merry x-mas.
Thank you Mary for making this video. I appreciate the time you took to make it and the fact that you kept the part in about using (you shouldn’t 😬) the food processor to chop the pecans. I just made the fruitcake today and they turned out wonderful 😋 I have been looking for a recipe like this forever, it’s similar to the fruitcake we used to order from Mary of Puddin Hill. Only your recipe is better!! Thanks again 😁
My husband and I watched several fruitcake recipes and we decided on yours, not just because we think you're cute and remind us of our granddaughter, but because it looked the closest to the Texas fruitcake we used to sell for school when we were kids back in the 50's. We are going to make it together (that way we can blame the other one if it doesn't work out, however we're pretty confident it will. We are excited to start tomorrow. Also we're new subscribers. Happy Holidays and good luck with your channel.😊
I'm sorry, but the video is confusing with all the changes in the amounts. Perhaps next time you could be more precise? I'll guess I'll just skip right to the downloaded recipe. Sorry.
I ALWAYS use a tea strainer and sift baking soda so I don't l lumpy baking soda in a recipe. I got a gift of banana bread with lumpy baking soda and it was AWFUL!!
No I don't. It's my kitchen and I'm not selling the cakes. I am also allergic to latex and my hands are freshly washed. However do feel free to use gloves at your house.
No trolls allowed here! I think she's doing a fantastic job. She's sweet to share her recipes with us all. Just move on if you don't approve and look for another recipe. Let's all be kind.
Ive also been looking for a Costco fuit cake this recipe is a winner
It's so good!

You're welcome. I know my mom was making these in the 1940s to send to her brothers during WW2.
Can't wait to make this recipe. Love fruitcake. I'm going to try and use my dough hook on my standing mixer to blend ingredients. Thank you

What is the purpose of baking powder since it won't rise like a regular cake...thnx
Because that's my mom's/grandmom's/great grandmom's recipe? I have no idea - I've never left it out.
Thank you 💜
I didn't mix the dry ingredients first. Hope they turn out ok. Got em baking now
It's more evenly distributed if you mix them.

Is this recipe on description box for 2 loaves bec on your demo u use 6 eggs..need clarification pls.Thnx
I didn't really understand your question but it does make 2 loaves.
Looks great, but I personally, am not crazy about dates. Could you use raisins instead of dates? Or maybe even half of each?
I think raisins would work, maybe half half? The dates are stick and they help the fruitcake hold together.
I cant save the video??🙃
