Thanks for another great reaction VB! They're booked through June in Japan at this point with no dates abroad planned as of yet. Still hoping. So unless you're willing to wait many more months, it means a trip to Japan. If you do that, and post about it, you're going to get a landslide of activity on here! Looking forward to it!
Yeah the documentaries will make you look at each member differently, especially, in my opinion, Saiki and Miku. Saiki story is crazy enough with her shyness and surgery to become the amazing singer and having the stage presence she has today. Until you learn more about Miku, you don't really understand how hard she worked and what she is will to do for her Band.
When you go back and watch this with lyrics keep this in mind, Kanami wrote this to honor her grandmother whom she lost in 2024. She did not tell Miku this and kept it in her heart. Miku listened to it and picked up on Kanami's emotions through the music and wrote the song about a lost loved one. She gave the lyrics to Kanami and Kanami wept. towards the end of the video there is a shot of Kanami looking to the sky. Just another reason that I love this band so much.
Saiki seems like she did a dramatic level up during their tenth anniversary tour or something. She was on fire at the tour ender at Yokohama Arena, and pretty much has been ever since. They’ve been exploring/expanding her higher range more recently, which I don’t love as much as her lower register so far, but we’ll see where it goes.
I've always refused to pick favorites when it comes to Band-Maid songs. This one's so good that I had to break my rule. Best song ever. Not just the best Band-Maid song ever, simply the best song ever. Of course the best Band-Maid song is pretty much guaranteed to be the best song ever. I fully expect Band-Maid to surpass this one in the future, because that's what Band-Maid does.
Re. what I wrote the other day, that it's often hard to hum Band-Maid songs: if someone wonders how "Forbidden Tale" goes and asks me to hum it, I'd say "Sure, which part? The ballad part, the punk rock part, the hard rock part, the jazz part, the bluesy 1970s hard rock part, the Cher power ballad part, or the anthem part?".
Jazz, blues, thrash metal, punk, power pop, speed metal, that's your genre right there, mixed into a intoxicating cocktail of perfection. Speaking of jazz, be sure to check out a new live vid Honkai with a very cool Misa/Akane jazz intro that is a must see.
The songs already released earlier last year are just Band-Maid awesomesauce! The six new songs are so tightly integrated and complex, it's going to take a Tokyo minute to assimilate. But I already love Forbidden Tale, and especially The One. 😉🤘 btw - We should all wish a "Good Luck" to Band-Maid's new self-run management company: Maidit, Co., LTD! Will they managing other bands, boost Cluppo and Maiko projects, or tour more internationally? Or maybe they will expand their business interest to other sectors of the music biz outside of Band-Maid. I believe Kanami wants to get more into composing, scoring and production. And as for Miku and Saiki, the sky's the limit for what they'll want to do in merch, fashion and art, etc.. The music and execution in Epic Narratives is sophisticated and delightfully listenable. But the lyrics and concepts they're based on catapult EN to epic levels. Thx, V-Bud ! 🤘😉🎀
BAND-MAID-Prime has a video about the making of this one. They are pros at making videos and will work from early morning till late at night to finish their work. Also, Kanami isn’t selfish or jealous of other members contributing to he songs. She said some of the songs will be “cooler” than her original vision. Just another aspect of why Maidiacs are so loyal to BAND-MAID.
I'm trying to find the info that I saw, but it's eluding me, that the building for this video shoot was built many years ago in England (or somewhere in the west) and was moved to Japan. Hopefully someone will fill in the blanks. If you join their fan club, monthly charge is @ $3.50 USD, they have a behind the scenes video of this MV and they just released a fun video (2 parts for @ 1 hour total) of their 2024 year in review. They are hanging out having dinner and having a fun conversation. Both have sub-titles.
The filming locations for "Forbidden Tale" are the Royal Chester wedding hall and the Northern Sports Park in Ota City, Gunma Prefecture. The chapel's cathedral seems to have been moved from Chester in the UK.
Forbidden Tale is so awesome that Noah's neighbour stayed in & listened to it on repeat...He was a bit upset later when he realised he'd missed the weather forecast.
Another nice reaction. If you have not already done so, highly recommend you watch this again on your own with subtitles on, the lyrics are touching and will allow you to much better understand this one. Happy New Year from Yokohama Japan!
Do you turn off the subtitles because you can't concentrate on the music? I think you can understand the songs more deeply with the officially added subtitles, so I would be happy if you watched it twice.

A musical journey in this song! Band-Maid is their own genre, Po!
Both Misa and Akane studied jazz as part of their two year diploma at the Tokyo School of Music c. 2012-13. Welcome Maidiac- enjoy the ride to come.

Saiki wrote the lyrics for this one, not Miku. Otherwise I think that's pretty accurate.
