how do you remove the background? can ideogram just make it transparent?

You need to upscale the image inside ideogram and then download it first. Then, you can use other software or websites to remove the background, like BG remover, or something advanced like photoshop. Unfortunately ideogram does not support this yet

What would be the best thing to type to remove design from like a mockup generation? So for example the shirt is blank instead of design on it!

For ideogram, it does not work well. You can use this prompt, but you will get a t-shirt with a design on it. I suggest to use other AI tools to create t-shirt mockups. Try this prompt""create a mockup t-shirt. Make the t-shirt color white with no design". You can also use the edit tool to remove the design from the mockup t-shirt
