@@DAoutdoors yeah very wild, I wanted to get the drone up over the settlement but I wouldn't have seen it again 😂 I really like that area, I've spent a lot of time in the "Westmorland Dales" over the years. Thanks for watching Dave it's much appreciated cheers Alistair 👍
@@PhilipOlsen11 Hi Phil, I find some of these places strangely inspiring. It was so windy!... I didn't dare to use the drone up over the settlement ☹️ Glad you enjoyed it, cheers Alistair 👍
@@GENerationXplorers I'd like to go back with the drone and get some aerial views of the settlement at some time... when it's a bit calmer! Thanks for watching and commenting ATB Alistair 👍
Wiki showed me an air view of Castle Folds. That is really one massive and impressive construction 🎉. Thanks for taking us there. One thing though I would be interested in, where was/is the next water source?
@@medievalladybird394 it's a good question and an interesting one. Today the closest water source is actually a weak spring inside the stone circle... about 1 mile as the crow flies! The geology is of course limestone, here in Westmorland there are numerous "dewponds" perhaps they collected water using similar methods...of course we also get more than our fair share of rain! Thanks for watching and commenting, ATB Alistair 👍
Hi Alistair, what a cracking area, so much history, thanks for sharing it with us. Looked a breezy old day. 😀🥾⛰

Looks like they needed thick walls up there for protection from that wind
