I expect this mower will last several seasons with decent care. th-cam.com/users/postUgkx1VWTrayKBdCKAjzAcZ_Eg4dhHTae3LkN also recommend Also, I ran across the problem with it not starting the 2nd time I used it. There is a safety switch which is pushed in by the chute or mulching piece being attached to the deck. I took the cover off and it wouldn't start. Put it back on, no problem. It takes only a minute with 2 easily accessible wingnuts and no tools. This mower starts up first crank each time and it is a joy to use. It also mows in reverse by putting the key to the reverse area after starting and pushing in the triangular button. It will stay in reverse mode until you turn it off. All in all, for my homeowner needs, I really like this mower-and at 70 bucks a cut here in Miami, it's already more than 1/3 paid for itself in a month.
Thank you Dave this tutorial made life so much easy. Ran over a piece a rebar busted the spindel, I was back pushing the old lawn mower kinda brought back some memories of the old days lol. With this video im glad them memories faded quick if ubknow what i meanThanks again. I bought mine of Amazon ran about $30 hope it lasts
Hey Dave - thanks so much for this great video! I ran over something and had to replace. Short sweet and informative! Thank you for not making this a movie - a long damn video! Take care!
Appreciate the video. Great step by step. Only thing to add is that you should have something to vertically lean the deck against to make the spindle install easier.
Also, if you’re replacing a side spindle (like I was), don’t forget to reseat the belt before you put the shroud back on. Otherwise, you’ll be pulling the deck back out again after putting all the cotter pins back on…not that I did that, but I did.
I did what you said took about half hour .thanks for making it easier. I have another problem if you could help. I have a spark on spark plug wire but when I put new spark plug on end of wire checked it against body no spark comes through spark plug. It was running fine before it quit. Plenty gas coming up carburetor.
I was trying to replace the blade, but i snapped the head of the blade bolt off. If i buy a new mandrel assembly, how can i remove the top nut without having a blade to hold on to? I tried using extractors to get the bolt out. But that didn't work at all. I don't have an impact wrench or fancy tools.
Hello I recently removed mowerdeck from tractor to replace broken spindle and I lost hardware to re mount cutting deck to tractor. What parts do I need to reconnect the mower deck to tractor ??? Please help 😢😢
Thanks for the instructive video! I notice you didn't use a threadlocker agent when attaching the spindle to the deck. I would have thought this would be worthwhile, given the vibration involved. I can imagine the bolt working its way out. Is there a good reason NOT to use it that I'm missing? About to do mine.
Everything worked until I started to pull the deck out but there was a wire connected that prevented me from doing so. It ran all the way up into under the hood and hooked up back in the middle in front of where I took the pin out and then connected to a wire on the other side???
My bolt keeps spinning. The spindle underneath is completely stripped out. I’ve tried holding it with vice grips and am using an impact gun. I guess I’m just SOL
Most of the time these spindles come with sealed bearings and the grease will sit on the seal. The spindle needs opened up and the inner bearing seals need removed.
Helpful tip before you put the new spindle on put the nut on knock out the spindle shaft from the top it will drop out take the inter plastic washer off the bearings then Insert the spindle shaft back into the spindle housing from the bottom add High temp Grease . Removing the plastic washer from bearing Allows grease to reach the bearing rollers makes everything last longer. And yes if spindle housing is still good but the spindle shaft is bent or bearing went out you can just replace the shaft or bearing keep from replacing the whole assembly and save money a time
A whole lot of extra work taking the deck apart, there is no need to take the deck off. Raise the rear of the tractor with a jack on the tail hitch or run it up car ramps, chock the front wheels you are off to the races, done it a dozen times never an issue.
Good share man. How long did this take you overall to replace the spindle? I’ve got the LGT 2554. Hoping to find a single spindle for sale, just broke my one side of today. Please let me know whenever you get a second.
It varies, I can replace the outer ones, without taking the deck off. If you have a Rural King near by, they usually have them in stock. But I have bought a few off EBay. I would recommend having 1 as a spare on hand
I mow my grandparents lawn with one of the bigger ones of these, idk a 750 cc engine or something. Anywho, i brought it back home (very close, just drove it) mowed some and BOTH spindles sheared/cracked off and both blades ruined. Noticed the grass wasnt shooting out so i checked. They went and got spindles at a local spot which just gave me the casing....no bearings no actual ''spindle'' aka where you bolt eveyrthing on. The old bearings are gonna be ruined coming out and the spindle, how the blade indexes is all boogered up. Sad paying 35 or so dollars per spindle to get 1/3 of what i need. Ebay ect could have it in a few weeks,a bit too long though. Always time that is the factor
@@davethewoodworker1043 Thanks for the reply, yeah it's my grandparents ride on, but i might see about getting a spare atleast. I got no problem changing it by any means just getting parts yeah. Great video, Dave. I need to change a spindle on my father in-law’s mower and this was just the information that I needed. Thanks!

Great job, best video I've seen! Right to the point under 5 minutes, other people would have been 15 to 20 minutes and you covered everything.
Thanks I try to get straight to the point

Break the aluminum spindle and use pliers or vise grips to hold the shaft

I don't know what a wire would be hooked up too, unless they changed something on newer models

1-2 hours. Really should be 1 hour for anyone that knows what they are doing.

Shucks - me too :(
Same thing here :(
When putting in the grease, I pumped and pumped but no grease ever came out the “other side” as you say. Where exactly does it come out?
It usually comes out around the bearing, or around the grease fitting
