Interesting theory, but in my opinion Maul could return the shots and throw them back at the guards, Padmé and other survivors could shoot, But Maul would already be in combat against Qui Gon and Obi Wan and Padmé couldn't take the risk of killing a friend.

Maul is a true battle savage. I have to put respect on his name but he would still have to stop and pay some attention to the blaster bolts. Especially, all scattered in the hanger. At the very least, I still think it would buy the Jedi a few moments to either attack or maybe think of a plan. (I'm still annoyed as to why not a single question was ever asked of the being deemed a Sith).
