If Lyon had the midfield port Adelaide has or Sydney has he could coach differently I’m surprised they got that close to the team with the best midfield in the game well done stkilda coaches
Why does Kane always shy away from criticism of Horne Francis. And why does these panelist not call him out for making excuses. It’s because Horne Francis wears his Jumper number 18 at Port Adelaide and he has a conflict of interest. Biased journalism !
Been hearing players are not happy at St Kilda for months now, but just like this clip, there's never any substance to it. Name it or move on gents. You say Marshall, Steele etc are not happy? Why? How do you know they are not happy if you can't even put some context to the statements. Come on gents, lift a little and provide clarity please.
Lyon plays such a dour, defensive system. His teams will always struggle to kick winning scores consistently because that's not what he sets them up for. He'd rather hold you to 40 and kick 41, than engage in a shoot out
You're regurgitating what every single brainless Ross hater says. Ross WANTS to mix a fast and fluid attacking element to match his signature defensive style, but he just doesn't have the cattle to do so just yet. St Kilda are in the midst of rebuilding its midfield and adding more smart, classy users than can deliver i50. Sadly, what you're seeing now is a coach having to set his side up for damage limitations, since he doesn't want his team going down by 5-10 goals most weeks 'cause that's an easy way to lose even more of the struggling fan base and have even more criticism piled onto the club
@TNT_12 Signature defensive style you say? That's quite high praise, is this your TH-cam burner Ross? Every coach would love to blend rock solid defense with fluid attack. It's the football holy grail. Unfortunately, it appears to be well beyond Mr Lyons' grasp. As his brainless critics will point out, along with his overly defensive game plans (which is counter to the modern game of attacking and holding inside 50), his team set up and list management are pretty poor, which is reflected in their ladder positions and %. So far he's joined St Kilda and Fremantle who had pretty solid lists when he got there, and in their 5th year of his tenure they're free-falling out of the 8. Ross isn't the coach you want going forward, and he's never short on excuses and fingers to point when the wheels fall off.
@@bestgirlchie534 He's led teams to 3 grand finals, a feat that eclipses the vast majority of coaches ever to coach the game. I'm not saying he's the coach I want coaching us for the next 10 years, but he's good enough to lead us through this rebuild/transition period. Our problem right now is the lack of talent, not the game plan. I know Ross intends to achieve the so-called "holy grail" this time around at the Saints, and we'll be a more attractive team to watch once we get bring A-grade ball users in. If you believe otherwise, then that's your dumbass opinion.
@TNT_12 you sound very invested in this, which is great for a supporter. I really hope for your sake that Lyon's will change enough to deliver what you're looking for. Ross' track record does nothing to show he's got the ability as a coach to do what you're asking, though. Past glories are nice, but Malthouse had those and he nearly scuttled the Blues completely in his last go around, as the modern game inevitably passes the old coaches by. It's good to get your hopes up but maybe keep one foot on the ground just in case.
Freo casually beat Sydney, ending a 10 game winning streak and you give them less than one minute, and all you do is name players the whole time Absolute shitshow

The longer Mitch Owens plays under Ross Lyon the more despondent he gets. He is hardly recognisable from the player he was last season.
He needs to be on-ball way more than he currently is, but he just doesn't have the tank for it. 1 or 2 more preseasons and he'll be a gun mid
