Thats a hard situation, if the dog was unable to function I get it, but its the owners choice. If i was in the pet parents situation i think id actually lose it
They scared him half to death which is why he was in tha state. They knew nothing and killed him knowing full well his owner was coming. Don't defend these monsters
yes, thats how they were able to contact the owner, when he went to pick up the dog on wed they said they were closed due to training, he went back next day to get the run around and eventually being told they just put him down. the dog was terrified when brought in and lost control over his bowels, not because he was geriatric, but because he was scared, had they waited the 72 hrs they would have seen that. the owner says he was old had arthritis but had a lot of life left. i believe him, i think the staff just didnt want to deal with it. even if the dog was on death's door, it was not their choice to make, at least let the owner be there in his last days. the shelter confirmed he had an owner who wanted him, and after that contact they put the dog down. shame on them.
Nobody is blaming the owner for allowing his elderly dog walk off of his property unleashed? It is his responsibility to keep his pets safe and contained. The owner failed his dog. I would know if any of my dogs were missing within minutes. It sounds like he didn't realize the dog was gone for hours before trying to find him.
A deeper investgation is needed. Not a review of their policies. Disputed euthanasia? Neglience euthanasia.

I hope they get criminally charged! Also, they said they were closed on Wednesday for training so he came Thu - but then they had killed him - what!??

The dog had arthritis which he was on medication for. It was not their decision to euthanize this dog.
Do an autopsy on the body. It will prove without a shadow of a doubt what his health condition was before they killed him. So sad and so wrong!!
