Here's a tip. Replace the horrid cap head screws that hold the handles on with dome headed ones. I found the cap headead type are likely to pinch a thumb when rotating the handle. I'm currently enjoying a bash look at your content. Thanks for sharing what you get up to

I did something very similar On my clarke cl300m, which is in effect a sieg C2 which is now a far from standard machine.I do not have the room for anything bigger so it has had a lot of mods done to it. But I used brass screws which I had made into knurled thumb screws, as they don't need a lot of pressure to lock them up and I can usually lock them tight enough with just my fingers.

Hi Stephen - a great idea. I might give it a try when I've got some spare time.
      All the best.

    Hi,
    Another tip.
Once you think your got the Gib adjusted just right.
Place DTI on one side of the compound with the magnetic base on the cross slide.
Now try and wiggle the compound from the opposite end, check to see how much movement you have.
Extend the compound slide in both directions and repeat
Aim roughly for 0.001" tighten the gib screws as necessary and check for smooth operation of of the hand wheel.
This takes the guess work out just trying to wiggle it to see if there is any play ,especially when trying to do a parting operation on the lathe.
This method works for Gib adjustments on both lathe and mill for any axis, just apply the magnetic base to the ways connected to that axis for adjustment.
Make sure the axis has lubrication before hand

I have a suggestion, charge me to do mine cause I don't have a pillar drill setup :( good video. The sc3 is a great little unit. Atleast I am enjoying mine so far. A 👌

Ha ha. But, if you are ever near York, UK just call by and I will drill it for free! I agree, the SC3 is a pretty good starter lathe after a bit of tweaking. Thanks for the feedback.
      Cheers. Andrew

Why not just tighten all the gib screws down more?

Hi. I find that correct gib adjustment can take a while. With my solution you can lock and unlock in a matter of seconds.
      Cheers
