I honestly always thought it was obnoxious to talk about myself when getting know someone, so I'd ask lots of questions as I thought that was the polite thing to do. I had no idea that I was shooting myself in the foot this whole time! Thanks Mark, applying your tips in some chats right now 😊

I absolutely agree with you! Asking questions IMHO shows that you're interested and want to learn more about him! If I was chatting with someone and all he did was talk about themselves.......I'd be gone in a heartbeat!

All these years I used to think that questions was a way to show interest and attention and I thought guys actually wanted that in order to feel valued etc. Same for me, I thought the more questions from a guy, the bigger his interest was for me since by asking questions he would want to know more about me by giving me the chance to expand on a subject/story.. Whole new perspective now here, thanks Mark 🙂

Mark, I was ruminating about how to seem interesting in the next text, looking at this clip a couple of times. I went "Let's see what he wrote, maybe only about himself again?" (my prejudice) Hours later I finally got the courage and strength after work to look at it. "let's get to this task, how can I share more about me?"
Seems I had already got the hang of what you are explaining and he found me more interesting. It was a long text about his day, long part asking about my math/mechanics stuff, with a date invitation too. (He told me a few days ago to name the time, then he would name the place. But since I was chicken and held back, he suggested a place today anyway) So there we go, thanks to watching you and Jermia I'm now more enticing in my texts. Who would have thought?
(Grateful also for your interviews with HG Tudor, on narcissism.
This dateguy is empathic though. I know him from 20 yrs ago)

      "Bragging fest"
One problem, Mark. Some guys see this statement sharing as a One Upping show, so they reflect everything the girl says to themselves, instead of asking more about her, I have noticed.
      So the convo goes:
      Statement/anecdote about her,
      statement/anecdote about him,
      statement/anecdote about her,
      statement/story about him
      rather tiresome,
I guess we need to phrase it in a fun way which makes them ask us out or ask about that thing we mentioned.
And find a guy who's more fun, maybe.

I have fallen into a pattern of asking open ended questions because men pretty much always just sit there like a bump on a log and don't come back with any info/share/ask about me....nothing. So, yes, I become the freaking Riddler. And I hate it; it's boring AF. I've tried to just do my part and not say "and you?" etc. Know what happens? Absolutely nothing. I have to end the conversation because it just totally stalls. I know that these men aren't really invested, but they are literally ALL like this. And, I sometimes feel that some just aren't good texters/online communicators. So then I try to move to phone conversations quicker than usual and that's come back to bite me in the ass as well. Had two men recently who would NOT shut up. Could not get a word in edgewise and it was the most boring ramblings that they were spouting (one man went into an exhaustive history of his ex-wife's family...why on earth would I care about that?) I'm so exhausted from trying to communicate with these men.

Like Staci’s hair. her role play was good. Just too much info was exchanged at the beginning of the conversation. Many women don’t usually say their name in the beginning of a conversation. Cause a lot of times we are scared to be a caught up with a weird person talking and then they got our name. And could follow us yelling our name out loud. As we feel safe in the conversation then we say our name.

WOW! I have really bored with the text exchanges I have had on dating apps. This looks like so much more fun than I have been having! And, when I realize this is a much more realistic way that people have conversations. I am going to start practicing it. I have been waiting for the man who asks me a real question about myself because I want a man who wants to know me. Are you saying him being interested enough in me to ask questions develops over time? Now you're saying it's boring because I ask a question? I always respond first to his statements, then ask a question back. Is this the wrong approach? As I watch this, I am wondering if it's a male thing to make statements and not questions? I have been feeling more and more bored and irritated with the way guys text on a dating app. So many things in my profile they could ask about or now, I realize remark on! I am wondering if it's a female thing to ask questions and a guy's thing to make statements.

You aren’t with him if you have never met him face to face. If he’s not willing to meet you/hang out face to face, you need to move on.... run!

It takes two seconds to block any number. And you can always download a Google voice phone number.

I believe the truth is that it was Matt that was uninteresting. If Stacey had ventured out with a story I don't think Matt would have reciprocated. She should have shot him in the Butt with some quick witted thing about how he was a great conversationalist and she couldn't wait to do it again, just as she left him standing in his own boorishness.

So the secret to standing out it is sharing more stories about yourself?
