That is the essence of alpinism. As long as we have each other, we are not alone. The mountain is a hostile but beautiful environment, that is to be encountered as a collective. Good sportsmanship!
It’s cheap for a reason, not sure I’d be happy using them. Years ago the Italians got a lot of grief for cheaping out gondola cables, this place looks like it’s run on a shoestring.
Yes, lack of investment at this place but somehow I think they do maintain the remaining two functioning lifts properly, As for the others, they look beyond repair, which I will cover in another video...
Politics has kept this place the way it is but I have heard this may have finally been unblocked and investment could be on the way. It has great potential as it's the highest in the region, while one part extends into Northern Macedonia, which wasn't a problem when Yugoslavia existed. Let's see how things go in the coming years...
I think the map is from a time when everything was functional, I do hope they get some good investment soon. I remember the first time I went there, looking at some sites on the internet to get an indication on status. Once I arrived I found everything closed and realised the sites have have not been maintained for years...
06:08 - OMG, I really thought I'd seen every style a beginner could use but Hunchback of Notre Dame is a new one for me! Having been badly taken out on a 6-man chair in Bansko, it's the last time I'll ever head to an Eastern European resort where they just whack on a pair of skis and head up the mountain with absolutely no thought of learning anything first.
The problem is, most of the time in this resort the beginner lift doesnt work, so you have no other option but to go all the way up. And the biggest problem for the beginner is the moguls around minute 3, there is no other way down except through.
Yes, I have some videos from Krvavec, a resort close to the capital Ljubljana... the playlist is here th-cam.com/play/PLbGz-cgOwmcuRykIPOCjE4E5akwVIis5Z.html I've also skied at: Kanin - Sella Nevea/Bovec, which extends into Italy. Mariborsko Pohorje - Maribor Kope I find they have lacked investment and in some cases, they are quite low so lacking snow. Planning to ski Vogel on my way back to western Europe if conditions are good. There are plenty of resorts there but generally quite basic...
it's a shame really, Brezovica has so much potential to be an amazing resort with little work since the lifts are already installed they just to be repaired. It's sad to see it be the same for 30 years straight.
Yes, lots of potential and it can go much higher. Some lifts are beyond repair but if they can get the ones to the peak working, that would be great...
@@ChasingSnow The lift "Red Rock" is most definitely repairable, it sends you to an amazing piste, even tho its been 3 years since brezovica has been Kosovo's property i don't think they have any plans to invest in Brezovica.
@@leartbegolli2545 I suppose we just have to wait, maybe some external party will decide to invest. There are plenty of people visiting so I think the investment will pay off.
I'll have to look into it, that's why I have the question mark after Cheapest? and I would like to know if there are other cheaper places. Do you have a link to the pricelist?
I was thinking about the skiers there and I think a lot of them are gutsy beginners... put on some skies and see how it goes, not realising how difficult some parts are but none-the-less giving it a try...
Well done for retrieving the ski, I remember how grateful I was having lost a ski on a steep piste that I didn’t have to climb up to retrieve it.
Yes, it's happened to all of us, so we have to help out when we can :-)

He wasn't exactly the most thankful of people though.
I was skiing in saas Fee for the weekend, and it gives me a feeling of accomplishment to help those who crashed, or to motivate those who are afraid.
Thanks for that, accomplishment is a good word to describe the feeling...
Sheer chaos at the chairlift station. This place needs to get some of its mothballed lifts running.

looks like they have good snow there

Nicely+Bureau of Good Deeds
That's what's needed if things are going to change...
why were all the lifts closed with so many people?
There are only two functioning lifts, the others have been neglected or abandoned. The resort has not recovered since the Kosovo war back in 1999.
