Great episode and chat with the founder. Thank for taking the time to film, edit and upload this! Watching from the UK. Thumbs up too for the algorithm
Right now I’m on a YZ 125. I’m 15 years old 5,8 and 130 pounds and even though I love the bike that I have it feels a little bit big and hard to handle. I’m glad that you guys are making a true midsize dirtbike. I’ve ridden Stark Varg and it is a lot of fun, but it is just way too heavy and hard to handle for somebody as light as me. I’m very excited to someday maybe be able to ride the DUST
This looks to be a Ultra Bee with better parts! I love the lower seat height and the price they are posting is what an upgrade ultra bee would cost. I have my deposit in. Thanks for the interview.
For sure. The Stark Varg is waaay too much bike for me. I had thought about getting an Ultra Bee and upgrading it, but the cost would easily exceed the price of a stock Dust Hightail, so for me it was a no-brainer.
@ Yeah I don’t see the point of having the extra weight for all that power with the Varg. I’d rather just enough power and the minimal weight. Great bike for the women too.
Please make a road legal version with plate holder, blinkers and headlight. A super moto setup would be amazing with the the hightail but I wont be able to use it where I live unless it is road legal
@@dirtbikemonster25 because I live in Switzerland and drivers here respect the various driving laws. There isn’t much difference between using my scrambler (when I still had it) and using my ultra bee

If I crash, that would be my fault, not some guy’s fault texting while driving. If I were to get back on the road, I would have to get one of those bikes that, when they are next to a car, the windows vibrate.
I wish these guys the best but I'll be surprised if they're around in five years. I'm not sure how many buyers they will find at $11k. It's a shame they didn't discuss details on the suspension. For $11k it better be name brand high quality stuff. I don't agree with how these guys are characterizing the Varg. You don't have to race the bike to have fun. The bike is an absolute blast. No it's not a "play bike" and I realize Dust isn't trying to compete with it but the bike is straight up fantastic. I don't race at all. I ride casually off road. I've had a light bee, ultra bee, and nicot ebeast and still have a freeride and a varg. The Varg is amazing after revalving the suspension. The freeride is still fun (after revalve) but I don't find myself riding it much with the Varg available to me. Now Dust also has to compete with the new Freeride. Depending on price the Ultra Bee II could also make things more difficult for Dust. The biggest problem for Dust? The battery is too small. The power available is more than sufficient but the battery is not going to last very long. A swappable battery is useless when I'm out on the trail.
I agree about the battery. It's like an upgraded Ultra Bee on every front except that mediocre 4.5kWh battery. They should have at least a bigger battery option to compete with the multiple Ultra Bee 6+kWh batteries available and the Artic Leopard EX800's 5.5kWh. If I was going to buy a midsize bike today, I wouldn't get this even though I'd be willing to pay a little more for a 6kWh. Everything else about the bike looks great
I think your body size and stature will have a lot to do with how you characterize the 'playfulness' of any given bike. In any case, I own a 475-lb, 919cc street motorcycle and used to also have a 300-lb, 286cc street bike. For high speed turns and the open road, the 100+ horsepower bike is obviously better suited. Dust estimates pre-order for hightail at $10,950. The Stark Varg MX is currently $10,999 (with more hp, torque, and battery). Trying to understand the appeal given the price difference. Is a smaller size really worth the specs downgrade? Not seeing the value here. What am I missing?
Stark Varg MX is only temporarily around this price. The new EX starts at $13k and is quickly $15k with options. The next version of the Stark MX is going to be back up at that price point. Snag a first gen Varg now if you want the current price price because that won't last. I love my Varg, but there are many trails where this midsize bike would be more fun and a better fit. I just wasn't willing to wait for the Dust. I'm going to ride my Varg until the two year warranty is up and then decide between a Varg EX and a Dust Hightail. By then, both will have been out for a while and bugs sorted (since the Dust is so new an the Varg has a lot of changes to harness, battery, phone, etc.) Agree that I'd like to have seen the dust with a larger battery, for more range. Was hoping they would design the swappable battery in such a way that they would offer two or three sizes of battery and the buyer could pick the price and weight appropriate for their use case. Maybe that is still a possibility.
I don't want or need an 80 hp, 265-lb bike. The Dust has plenty of power at over 40 hp, and the lightness (under 220 lbs) to me is far more desirable. Also, as a shorter rider, the ~2.5" lower seat height is also a boon.

with the extent and knowledge of this team at Dust I doubt they will use anything sub par, most likely a P45b or 50s cell. Othwerise I do agree it needs to be a good cell but they wouldnt be one to cut that as a cost seeing how premium everything is on these. I think they said its 80v 55ah so probably a 22s 11P pack with 50S cells if I had to guess
@@mrskywalker115 50S cells aren't the best thing some have thought they would be - they aren't great at over 15a continuous and 25a burst. You get a lot of voltage sag above those numbers by going 20a continuous and 35 burst. The best cell at a reasonable price per 1000 units is the P45B or tabless cells from EVE, BAK, Ampace or the 45T.
@@shifty277 I agree 100% only reason to for 50S is for 10-15a loads as thats where it has an edge over the 45b in capacity. I was just backing out the numbers from what they said they had. Either way still good question and Id like to know the answer two, just making assumptions(did the same with Varg and seems I was right that they were p42a and final production was p45b)
@@lucasbrown2128 60 lbs lighter than a Stark is a different bike class so it depends what your going for. If you want a premium mid size and don't need the range or plan on swapping batteries then this is the best.
My son is 16. He has 8700 miles on his surron ultra B. More than I have on my T7 😂. All stock except 18/21 wheels. He’s cased ALOT of landings …ridden in the rain dozens of times. This bike is a tank. Only thing I ever do is new tires, brake pads and chains. If you’re buying something like this for a “play” bike ….for 6K you are going to get an incredible amount of value for fun. The dust bike seems weirdly positioned in the market and prices out cost of entry to many young kids. Who should be the target market. Because that’s whos convincing their parents to buy them 😂And no way any lightly educated consumer is going buy this over a stark. I hope this company makes it and can find a gap in the market to fill.
The point of the Dust is it already has the high end suspension, and other components, on it from the factory. It's built out. If you want to buy a bike and swap in other components yourself, start with an Ultra Bee. Many have been frustrated with having to buy aftermarket parts and put stock components on the shelf. Such a waste. Hence why it's refreshing to see the Dust coming with everything you'd swap right from the factory. Much cheaper to pay more for the good components right from the start than swap them out. That is why I stayed away from an Ultra. $6,500 for the bike, but I added up cost of adding wheels/tires, larger battery and good suspension and was at $14,000 for stock controller and motor.
@@MrChadx1 for sure I get that. But some people like to go the extra step and get something little bit better even if it cost them more. People like build and customize their bikes to make it their own .just curious always nice to have options out there
@Bigmannature Yep. Modding is fun. But like J.O.P. said further up, Sirris is the go to aftermarket suspension for mid size electics (like the Ultra) and the Dust comes with it. Like any suspension ,one could mod the Sirris for your weight, terrain, and riding style to make it perfect for you, but you thankfully will not need to replace the fork and shock (like the on the economy bikes like the Ultra).
The unfortunate thing about the ultra bee is that you have to buy it with all the components already there, and then buy new forks, new tires, new controller, etc, and then you are left with these parts that are basically useless. It would be ideal if you could spec the thing with all the additional parts instead of having to buy 2 of everything.
This is the best looking dirtbike I've ever seen! Is it Super Mini Size? Do you offer a full size? I'm returning to motocross racing... probably race Vet A... I was a 125A FL Champ and swept Gatorback Winter Ams, Podiumed Mini O's 125A... 🏁🤘😎🏳
@ Surrons are obsolete.the Ventus and Eride SR are half the price at almost the same battery specs. 8 less volts, 5 less amp hrs, 5 less horsepower, 60 less pounds. Half the price.Something doesn’t add up.
Those are both much smaller bikes than the ultra bee is. The dust and ultra bee are in the mid sized category and much more capable at handling terrain than a small sized, but much more playful than a full sized
I SAW A COMPANY THAT SELLS A BOLT ON ENGINE FOR THE YZF250. IT EVEN USES THE RADIATOR HOSES TO COOL IT. SO YOU ARE ON A DIRTBIKE WITH AN E ENGINE . SOUNDS GREAT BUT THE COST OF IT DUE TO BATTERY IS TOO MUCH UNLESS YOU HAVE AN OLD YZF LAYING AROUND. I DON'T SEE WHY THEY COULDN'T MAKE IT A BOLT ON FOR ANY BIKE
A lot of comments about price. Electric if not Chinese made junk is more than gas that is just a fact right now. You want a high end emoto you gota pay and Varg is said to be loosing money at their discounted price which you can't do with a startup. Rivian and Tesla proved you can be successful and American made so bring it on Dust. As a first 100 holder mine is mostly paid off already. Just hoping they don't delay release next year.
Stark Future is NOT losing money. At all. Your info is wrong. Tesla didn't turn a profit for years. 10k is way too much for this. This is an 8k bike, no more.
I want to see them do well and I have a pre-order in. However: 1. The price is too high especially considering the current Varg and the upcoming Ultra Bee 2. 2. The battery capacity is too low at the price point...I'd gladly accept 10lbs extra for a 6kwh battery. 3. The real deal breaker is the lack of street legality. For where I live its the only way forward. I currently have a 2015 Super Duke R, 2022 GasGas 300EX, 2020 Surron X and 2023 Ultra Bee. The UB is great for what it is (Shitty suspension, lacking range and power but very fun) and I hardly ride the rest anymore...The Dust is almost exactly what I want but practically the Varg EX has to be the choice. I guess I have to be patient, hope DUST does well and wait for an enduro model...
Just an fyi to add 1.5kwh you have to add at least 15lbs just in raw cells, not accounting for any extra materials for battery case or connections so would be more like 20lbs all said and done. Battery weight is hard to get away from so I think they are doing quite well for the capacity to weight ration of the bike
32,000 Watts shouldn't it go faster than 75 mph that's what it says I just googled it 32 horsepower 35 inch seat height I wonder what the price is I have to go check no waiting for them to tell me
I think the bike is sweet and that this is going to be wayyyy better than all those other Chinese electric bikes you can tell surrons and other bikes feel very Chinese if you take an ultrabee and mod it out to somthing comparable to this your going to be about the same price but still with somthing Chinese
35" is short compared to fullsize bikes that all have 37+" seat heights. Have you sat on a 35" dirtbike? Be that an ICE trail bikes or an built out Ultra? And, 35" is unweighted. By the time you set sag and sit on it, it's a lot shorter. A Yamaha TT230 air cooled trail bike is 34.3" seat height and it feels like a toy when you sit on it once suspension settles into the sag. A couple inches doesn't sound like much, but moving all that weight two inches lower and allowing those with shorter inseam to touch so easy makes a huge difference.
I have to believe you have the sense to know you are wrong, so failing to understand the point of your post. 2025 YZ250 2 stroke is $8,000 (and ancient tech). 2025 YZ250F 4 stroke is $8,900. A Hightail is $10,950. 25% of that is $2,737.50. Conclusion: You can not buy a YZ250 for less than a quarter of the price of the Dust Hightail. Or are you talking about an old, clapped-out, used bike? Even sillier comment if so. "You can buy a 2010 pickup, with 200,000 miles on it, for 25% of what a new 2025 costs!" Well no kidding, Captain Obvious. Ha.
@@MrChadx1 A yz250 is only a two stroke other wise it would be a yzf. Secondly who in their right mind would buy a 2024 yz250 when they have made millions of the same bike since the 80's. I could do a complete tear down and rebuild of a two stroke engine in one day they are incredibly simple and reliable engines. So yeah I could easily find a yz 250 for $2500 all day. Hell I could find blown up yz 250's for $500
@@imbetteratshootingthanleafy Did you read my post? I put prices for a YZ and also listed the price of a YZF to add even more data. Yes, everyone knows the difference between a YZ and YZF. That goes with out saying. So your entire point is what I suspected; That a person can buy an old used bike for less than a new electric one. Just like my analogy that you can buy a 2010 pickup with 200,000 miles for less than a new 2025 pickup. How enlightening. Ha. So, to answer your original question, yes, these guys do realize that you can buy an old used YZ for less than their new electric bike.
@@MrChadx1 how long does it take to pull an engine from a truck? I get that you probably take your vehicle in for oil changes, but comparing cars to motorcycles is not equivalent. The amount of time ,effort and money it takes to return an old truck to it's former glory is far greater than what It would take for a motorcycle. Your analogy falls flat on its face. The new yz is still cheaper than their bike and could be had for much less if you get the god forbid "used" bike. I guess the market needs suckers like you though! So go ahead and shell out that cash big daddy.
Yeah Varg takes the cake forsure. Better range more power more robust better quality build etc… cool concept but ill wait to see what you guys come out with in 3 years
This bike should only be like 8 grand to the most to compete with the ultra bee I’ll just get a street legal stark with way more range than original Stark and you win all around the board. You just got 45 lb more weight 💯

The price point of the Dust is way cheaper than an Ultra built out similarly. Not even close.
@ yu can’t compete with the ultra bee now they have to compete with the stark its at a 11 price range I’ve are ready been through the ultra bee situation spent 15 on it Surron is a different category out of all of them because that’s a build that’s for someone that wants to build something to what they like. the point to buy a new bike it’s not upgraded like you said but the stark new is 12 with more range and power and suspension that can handle it

@@mrskywalker115 Thanks for the response btw.
@@shifty277 I agree 100% only reason to for 50S is for 10-15a loads as thats where it has an edge over the 45b in capacity. I was just backing out the numbers from what they said they had. Ive heard mixed about 50s capacity degradation but I think the poor performance was bc they were overtested(pushing 35a when they really should have been test at 15-20a). Either way still good question and Id like to know the answer two, just making assumptions(did the same with Varg and seems I was right that they were p42a and final production was p45b)
I like this bike a lot because other than the ultra be this is the only true midsize bike out of all of the companies
Battery is so small for an $11k bike. Should be 6 kWh. Stark Varg is the same price and has a 6.5 kWh. Everything else looks great though
Exactly lol, that’s a hard pass
Yeah if you have the money you’d be pretty foolish to chose this over a varg is not even close
Agreed except we don't know if everything else is great. No details on the suspension.
Yeah I 1000% wouldn't go with this because of that.
@@lucasbrown2128 60 lbs lighter than a Stark is a different bike class so it depends what your going for. If you want a premium mid size and don't need the range or plan on swapping batteries then this is the best.
This is awesome !!!
Great it’s time for the Dust and I ordered a Altis why because it is similar and 4000 less expensive or I buy a eride pro SR
Is this wed site real or fake because im am interested
I think Dust is a great emoto for the price
What is the range? It better be good at this price.
Is there going to be aftermarket suspension for the dust ?
The Dust Hightail will come with Sirris Suspension front and rear. They're a newer company, but from what I've seen, their components are top notch.
@@MrChadx1👈 this guy gets it.
There will be bikes coming in the future that are the same size as the ultra bee but ready to go from the factory! We can't wait for them to land...
This is the best looking dirtbike I've ever seen! Is it Super Mini Size? Do you offer a full size?
I'm returning to motocross racing... probably race Vet A... I was a 125A FL Champ and swept Gatorback Winter Ams, Podiumed Mini O's 125A...
🏁🤘😎🏳
Similar size to the Electric Motion XR. I’d like to see a side by side spec comparison, quality, geometry, weight and overall riding performance.
10k is wild! Did you do any market research prior to pricing this bike?
How much do you think it would cost for you to upgrade a Surron Ultra Bee to be in the same ballpark as a stock Dust Moto?
@ Surrons are obsolete.the Ventus and Eride SR are half the price at almost the same battery specs. 8 less volts, 5 less amp hrs, 5 less horsepower, 60 less pounds. Half the price.Something doesn’t add up.
Those are both much smaller bikes than the ultra bee is. The dust and ultra bee are in the mid sized category and much more capable at handling terrain than a small sized, but much more playful than a full sized
Gonna need to get the price point closer to 9k to compete with varg
Drop that price and this will sell like crazy
Id love to torture test this machine. For right now, my Ultra Bee has my heart, but I'm really interested in the Dust.
We have some big plans for the Dust Moto, stay tuned! We’ll be testing all year when the next batch of bikes is made.
Love everything about that bike just 4.4 kilowatt hour battery won't cut it for me on my longer but slow rides.
How far do you ride. You should get around 35 miles on the dust if not racing.
However:
32,000 Watts shouldn't it go faster than 75 mph that's what it says I just googled it 32 horsepower 35 inch seat height I wonder what the price is I have to go check no waiting for them to tell me
Huh ?! My 28kw 5000w qS motor goes 80-84mph gps verified
What’s your point ?! 30kw should get you 80+ no issues 💯
I think the bike is sweet and that this is going to be wayyyy better than all those other Chinese electric bikes you can tell surrons and other bikes feel very Chinese if you take an ultrabee and mod it out to somthing comparable to this your going to be about the same price but still with somthing Chinese
You'd easily exceed the price of the Dust Moto by upgrading an Ultra Bee to similar specs.
I want it but just too much $
8k then I'm gonna buy one
Gee the Chinese speaking 5 languages and I have a hard time speaking one that is why Altis sigma
What are some upgrades THAT I HAVE TO DO ON MY ULTA BEE
handlebars, footpegs, grips, 18/21 wheels and then suspension in that order
@@Raj.-._.v109 For off road, 21" front wheel and 54T sprocket.
Altis sigma is $5500 and runs just as fast as a KTM 500. TH-cam it.
Over priced main issue no hi end parts how come it’s so much
HIIIIIIII
The 35" seat height is going to turn a lot of people off. This isn't a full size dirt bike.
Yamaha YZ125 has a 38.6" seat height. What are you on about???
It’s meant to be smaller than a varg, and fill the mid sized category. That is why so many people already love this bike
I had a feeling that under 200lb claim was never going to happen.
Pre oredering niw 😊
Way to expensive you. I'd stick with the Varg. Im more than happy with the bikes I have.
Because I want to get the altis sigma, 98 volts 30 inch seat height check that bike out if you haven't yet
The price is the same as Stark Varg why would i buy thins instead of Varg?
do these guys realize i can get a yz250 for not even a quarter of the price of the hightail?
a new yz250 for $2500? sign me up lol
Better range more power more robust better quality build etc… cool concept but ill wait to see what you guys come out with in 3 years
Wow it's double the price of the one I want the one I want goes the same speed
Top speed is a terrible metric by which to compare the overall capabilities of opposing dirt bikes.
Are they riding mtb trails? 🤨
Private property
This bike should only be like 8 grand to the most to compete with the ultra bee I’ll just get a street legal stark with way more range than original Stark and you win all around the board. You just got 45 lb more weight 💯
The point of the Dust is it already has the high end suspension, and other components, on it from the factory. It's built out. Around $11k is a great price considering the components. If you want to buy a bike and swap in other components yourself, start with an Ultra Bee. Many have been frustrated with having to buy aftermarket parts and put stock components on the shelf. And that still had stock controller and motor. If Surron offered an Ultra with great suspension, larger battery, and 21/18, maybe I'd be interested because they could probably be in the $9k - $10k range. The price point of the Dust is way cheaper than an Ultra built out similarly. Not even close.
@ yu can’t compete with the ultra bee now they have to compete with the stark its at a 11 price range I’ve are ready been through the ultra bee situation spent 15 on it Surron is a different category out of all of them because that’s a build that’s for someone that wants to build something to what they like. the point to buy a new bike it’s not upgraded like you said but the stark new is 12 with more range and power and suspension that can handle it
@@Gold_Soul Ha. You were the one that said it was competing with the Ultra. As for the Varg, it is only temporarily around this price. The new EX starts at $13k and is quickly $15k with options. The next version of the Stark MX is going to be back up at that price point. Snag a Varg now if you want this price because that won't last. They are just building out bikes with current parts inventory and blowing them out. The bikes with new harness, phone, battery, etc. will be back up in price above the Dust Moto.
But even if they are the same price, I'm good with it. Choices are great and the buyer can pick which one fits their use case. I love my Varg, but there are many trails where this midsize bike would be more fun and a better fit. If all one road was gnarly single track, or you were a smaller/lighter rider, the Dust might be the better bike and your choice, even if the price point is the same as the Varg.
They smocking crack to charge 11k for 40miles at 25mph battery lmao 💀
If the battery was able to give 100miles at 25mph then we will entertain it at 6k 🤷🏿♂️
smock it up!!! lol
10k for an interior bike. 😂
