    I’ll never stop being impressed by you having played enough games to make top 30s for so many consoles. I loved the graphics in so many of the entries, but it’s the puzzle game and the slinky game that really caught my interest.

    • @BioPhoenixReviews
      @BioPhoenixReviews  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      over the years i have played quite a lot and figured it be a good way to showcase what games i love on the consoles. yes the slinky game is one of the most strange games that it really stands out

    Pretty great list. After this video I now have a whole lot of "new" games I should really play. Can't say I'm a fan of the original Ys 3 but hey, to each their own. Good video.

    the snes version of ys iii was one of the first games i've ever beaten so ive got a lot of nostalgia for it but haven't played since i was a kid, I definitely have to give the pc engine version a try sometime

      thats cool to hear you grew up with the SNES version of Ys 3. that was the first version i played and at the time i thought it was decent. just the attacking felt weird but man that PC Engine version is a whole other level

    I was around when this thing came over here to North America, and I didn't know a single person who had one; I just knew a guy who knew a guy, so my first chance to see what this was about was about 9 years ago when I checked out the whole library (minus most of the CD titles, because our Internet sucked), and it was a pretty interesting journey. Final Soldier and Soldier Blade are my favorites (the latter of which has my favorite soundtrack on the system), but the Tower of Druaga remake was probably the most satisfying to me, because I've always wanted to like Tower of Druaga, and that fixed the slow, clunky controls that plagued all the other versions. I played Dynastic Hero fairly recently as part of a Wonder Boy marathon, and it has one of my favorite translation flubs: you rescue the princess in the sewers, and she says, "The monsters captured me, do you know what I mean?" Why is she asking if you know what she means? Were they trying for some kind of valley girl accent? I don't know why it strikes me so funny, and it's definitely not on the level of Download, but it's been living rent-free in my head ever since. Probably doesn't help that I'm a life-long language nerd.
    If you're looking for some of the more unusual games, I'd recommend Aoi Blink (almost like Puss & Boots on the NES, but with a party of 3 characters), Dragon Egg, Makai Prince Dorabocchan (same series as Spike McFang), and Son Son 2 (very different from the first Son Son) for the Hu-Card, and God Panic: Shijou Saikyou Gundan for the CD. God Panic is yet another Vertically-Scrolling Shooter, but it is WILD; it puts even the likes of Parodius to shame, and the second loop descends even further into madness.

      lol i never noticed that line in Dynastic hero but thats funny. i have played Makai Prince Dorabocchan and it was ok did not like it as much as the SNES Spike Mcfang, Aoi Blink i remember seeing but i never tried it and same with son son 2. God Panic i have played and yes its super weird almost on cho aniki level but sadly i dont like the flow of the gameplay as much as others. but thank you for sharing

      yeah, none of us here at the time owned a turbo.. just knew a guy who knew a guy.. or had a neighbor (down the street on the right for me).. do you think download is better than download 2? i mean what could be better than Syd invading hitlers brain? have you seen the anime? i went out of my way to collect everything i could from this console since i missed it in my youth.. also, because of that now Red is one of my favorite devs..Spike McFang was developed by Red, the same team who made the Bonk series, Tengai Maikyou series, gate/ lords of thunder, Galaxy Fraulein Yuna series, the 32X version of Tempo, and eventually the Sakura Wars (sakura taisen) series, some great anime games like Gungrave and Gungrave Overdose, Trigun: the Planet Gunsmoke, and the Record of Agarest War games.. they were incredible

    As entertaining as the games are, I found the titles to be just as entertaining and hilarious, I can’t imagine reading that game over screen as kid 😂.

    >Lots of shootemups but no mention of Magical Chase
    >Also no mention of the cult classic Silent Debuggers
    BETRAYAL. I'm not sure I can come back from this level of psychological trauma.
    That being out of my system, there are a few other good arcade arrange/remix ports (like Valkyrie) on the system, which are easy to overlook.
    I would personally include Tower of Druaga and Bravoman (which is the weirdest classic Namco game imo) as such good ports. Especially, ToD was made as a definitive edition and you can see it, but somehow it's ignored by later digital re-releases. Total hidden gem.

    • @BioPhoenixReviews
      @BioPhoenixReviews  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      i mentioned in another comment about Magical Chase and honestly i think that game is overrated and kind of average. i think Cotton is a better Witch themed shoot'em up with a killer OST and graphic style plus Magical chase does 1 thing i dislike and that is playing on easier difficulties only lets you play the first couple levels. Silent Debuggers is neat but its not a favorite of mine its alright. Bravoman is decent but idk it was never a huge favorite for me. is it really that tragic? lol

    I hear a lot of mixed opinions on Final Zone 2, it's cool that you like it though. Isn't Motoi Sakuraba the composer? It would be interesting to hear the music from a PC Engine CD game he worked on.
    I can't say that Soldier Blade is all that easy for me, that second level is extremely tough. It does have unlimited continues though but man that second level is a pain, I think Spriggan is the best SHMUP gameplay wise while Sapphire is the best for the music but both are top 2 SHMUPS of all time material.

    • @BioPhoenixReviews
      @BioPhoenixReviews  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      as much as i enjoy Final Zone 2, its not the best of its kind but still really fun. and when i say a shoot'em up is easy i mean when it comes to a standard one since most are hard as hell but i found Soldier Blade to be much easier compared to many others i played. but yeah Spriggan is GOAT

    i could argue about everything in this list for years, should that one go here or here, i prefer dungeon explorer 2 to 1, etc but ill just say thanks and great video.. although i would say there's some you mightve missed and should try; on CD: 2 different Galaxy Fraulein Yuna games (eng patches for the pc engine versions and psx versions now), Legend of Xanadu series (still no eng patches as far as i know, but its Nihon Falcom), Rayxanber 2 and 3, Fray in Magical Adventure -Xak Gaiden (no eng patch), the Macross 2036 shmup (anything from the "Do You Remember Love?" Macross era is perfection to me -"PROTOCULTURE!?"- but not the rts one, i havent found an eng patch for that, but the soundtrack is really good), Dead of the Brain.. on hu card: Bubblegum Crash! Knight Sabers 2034 (has an eng patch), Magical Chase, Maerchen Maze, etc.. i could name dozens more with and without english patches, its just good to hear others talk about it and im glad you mentioned Fausette Amour, Tengai Makyou Ziria, (the eng patch is good, but its really basic for a jrpg, but it has cd vocals and a tiny amount of animation).. but your number 1 is great because anything from nihon falcom is golden

      @BioPhoenixReviews  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Galaxy Fraulein Yuna i have not gotten around to but they look cool. they are the kind of games that i have to be in the right mood for. Legend of Xanadu i did try to play recently and it seems pretty good but idk if i like it better then Xak or the Ys games but once it gets a translation i may try it again.
      Fray in Magical Adventure i have done a whole review on that game and i kinda liked it but i try to mention 1 game per franchise so i chose to talk about Xak 3 instead. Dead of the Brain i want to play on PC98 as i like the look of that version, as a huge bubblegum Crisis fan i really did not like Bubblegum Crash at all and it pains me to say that. Magical chase is ok i never got the hype for it as i always felt that Cotton was much better when it comes to witch theme shoot'em ups.Maerchen Maze i thought was ok i like the graphics though.
      but yeah i know there is so much i wish i could add but there is a little more then 30 and this was hard enough lol but i thank you for the suggestions

      @BioPhoenixReviews  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      if you listen to what i said at the start of the video dont take the ranking too seriously. but even then i personally dont think Splatterhouse is a top 5 game for me. you should make your own list then

    • @silvermusicbox3476
      @silvermusicbox3476 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      people overrate Splatterhouse just because of the blood and gore. its an ok game but it has problems such as limited continues, hit detection on some of the hazards are off and the game is frustrating.
