Just curious as to why you removed the front wheel?

I reinstalled the OEM pads on my '12 Goldwing today. I had tried a aftermarket ceramic less dust but less stopping power too!!

@Gary quick question I the F6B with aftermarket rotors & pads, it seem that when I apply brakes I get a grabbing feel and pulling to the left, was that one of the issue you were having with your after market pads, I also thinking if it might be the bleeding issue since I had to change my brake lines...If you have any feed back on this issue please provide...Thanks

Thanks for showing what it really takes to change pads. Yea, I guess I'll take it to the dealer. But, kudos for your own skill with that.

You do not have to remove the calipers to change the pad, it's a 10-minute job!

Push the calipers in take out the 5mm bolt an the pads fall right out this is way over kill

What? Chris all you have to do is pry the calliper piston back with a flat screwdriver then remove that 5 mm Allen screw .. Afterwards pull the pads out. Clean your Allen screw ; put in your new pads ; grease/replace /torque the Allen screw. then pump your brakes up. I guess the upside to your method is you're learning a lot about your bike and you get to use all those new tools. My Wing has 110,000 km on it so I'll be replacing the fronts for the second time and the rear for the first time.

I came here looking for a brake job. This was just changing pads on the front. Need to show rebuilding the calipers and the master cylinders, as well as the bleeding procedure for it to be a brake job.

Tell the truth... you didn't need brakes, you just needed an excuse to use that new JACK. 😂👍🏼

I'm thinking the Spyder probably doesn't need such a jack, but out of curiosity, how much would a jack like yours cost? And did you have a website address for the jack?

It would have been appreciated if you had at least mentioned greasing the O-ring on the pad retention bolts, as well as the axle spacer, and torque numbers.

I do my brakes by pressing the calipers in with a flat head screw driver slowly until they bottom out remove the rubber car then remove pin with 5mm wrench and pads slide out by themselves then put new pads in and reinstall 5mm pin and torque to 13 foot pounds and you done
Listen there’s absolutely no reason to remove calipers or wheel leave everything mounted and remove one
5mm pin on front left side then front right side and lastly right rear then pump brakes back ip a go
15 minutes tops and no need to jack the bike up either but Chris is evidently removing all this so the viewers can see what he is explaining

Do you have a video on bleeding brakes ?

  • @marktyme0379
    @marktyme0379 ปีที่แล้ว

I hope nobody uses your video as instruction on brake pad change, you do not need to remove the calipers or wheel, its a 5 minute job !!, I can only assume you remove the Engine to change the air filter. Check out Partzilla's Videos for the correct way to do the job.

Good question Jimmy, changing the brakes doesn't require taking the wheels off, but I took the wheels off to put on new tire tires.

Chris, I have to wonder how many times do you get interrupted when working on the Gold Wing? And as to your maintenance on the brakes, with the shop setup that you have, I should ride the Spyder down there, and have you take a look at, and service the brakes.......

There are two Allen bolts to remove, that’s it. Taking the front tire/Axle and all your chrome isn’t necessary. You wasted lots of ride time. You can change the break pads while it is on the center stand. SMHL

If we all lived closer together we could chip in and buy a proper machine, I have seen them new for a grand.
The cost to mount and balance a tire around here is 45/50 bucks each...
