This the song that introduced me to Séamus’. Time stood still when I listened. How blessed we are are to have his singing and songs like this. Rest in song, Séamus.

had the privelege of seeing this force of nature a few times late in life. He was the first person to tell me the name of this song. Absolutely stunning. RIP Seamus.

First heard this on RTÉ in about 1997 and it absolutely rooted me to the spot. It was a programme about Séamus agus Steve Cooney agus Meitheal.
    Absolutely beautifully haunting.
Ive sang all my life and slobbered at the accordion..so I appreciate both, but when I heard the music on Meitheal and Séamus's heart dissolving voice I immediately knew I was hearing something of a beauty Id never, never hear again.
With time my own son has turned into an exceptional musician and breathtaking singer and I have in the past asked if someday he might take a jaunt to Kerry to meet this ethereal character...of course he agreed to.
    It never came around though.
Séamus, god rest him, passed before the chance presented itself.
I'll never meet this man, and neither will my son, by now a respected musician, who is now fully able to appreciate the sparkle of Séamus Beaglioch's once in a lifetime brilliance.
Never let chance of glory fleet, you'll punish yourself for them.
May you have the peace, happiness, excitement and grace in eternity your music has blessed me and so many others with Séamus a grá.
Go raibh míle maith agat de mo chroí.

I'd heard the version with mary Black and didn't think I'd find a lovlier or better sung song. Well, this is it!

The breath control and the blas are sublime and the accompaniment equally so.

Heard this on TV when it was released and had to go out and buy it, a bit of a struggle at first as I didn't know the name of the song but eventually located it at the record shop.

Is thiar cois abhainn gan bhréag gan dabht
Tá an ainnir chiúin tais mhánla
Is gur ghile a cam ná an eala ar an dtonn
Ó bhaitheas go bonn a bróige
'Sí an stáidbhean í a chráigh mo chroí
    Is d'fhág sí i m'intinn brónach
Is leigheas le fáil níl agam go brách
Ó dhiúltaigh mo ghrá gheal domsa
Ó b'fhearr liom fhéin ná Éire mhóir
    Ná saibhres Rí na Spáinne
Go mbéinnse 'gus tusa i lúb na finne
I gcoilltibh i bhfad ón ár gcáirde
Ó mise 'gus tusa bheith pósta a ghrá
    Le haontoil athar is máthair
A mhaighdean óig is milse póg
    Tú grian na Carraige Báine
'S a stuaire an chinn cailce,
más dual dom go mbeir agam
Beidh cóir ort a thaithneodh led' cháirde
Idir shíoda 'gus hata ó bhonn go bathas
'S gach ní sa chathair dá bhfeabhas
Beidh do bhólacht á gcasadh gach neoin chun baile
Is ceol binn ag beacha ar bhánta
    Beidh ól ar do ghlacadh
    is cóiste id' tharraingt
    Go bruach na Carraige Báine
