Iarla has to have one of the purest voices ever with beautiful accompaniment by the one and only me Steve Cooney. Our language is beautiful made all the more melodic by this song and Iarl’s singing. Sar cheoil!
Best rendition I ever heard of this song, I really wish Iarla would do an actual recording of this song, he was born to sing it and it suits him down to the ground

This man has one of the most beautiful voices I ever had the honour to hear. I've heard his version of Mo ghile mear a few years ago. Today I accidentally came across this video and I'm really not disappointed. What a gift! God bless you, Mr Ó Lionáird for sharing it with the World.
I fell in love with his voice when I went to see the movie Brooklyn. There wasn't a dry eye in the theatre. Tá an t-amhrán seo á chanadh go hálainn agat freisin. Go raibh míle maith agat tú féin.
My goodness, I’m sitting here in San Francisco during the Pandemic (as Dún Dealgan) and trying to learn the lyrics to Sé Mo Laoch, I was doing all right until I listened to Liarla and Steve, my God, absolutely brilliant. I think I won’t bother.
Saw Iarla Ó Lionáird live last night in Newbridge Co Kildare in Riverbank Theatre performing with Cormac McCarthy & Matthew Berrill. Stunning performance & fabulous evening. Finished off by singing Casadh An Tsúgáin. Stellar.
Absolutely beautiful. The singing is exquisite and the guitar, my real passion, is, as always, from an amazing and totally beautiful planet, occupied by the honerable Mr Steve Cooney. Thank you both XX

I need to learn my language 😢🇮🇪☘️ such a beautiful language and our culture is the best in the world ❤️ and my grammar too because I can’t write at all 😂😂
I don't know if you if you looked up the meaning behind the song, but I'll do my best to summarise. This song is originally an ode to Bonnie Prince Charles, whom the Irish hoped would be their saviour from religious persecution. It was disguised as a love song because it was treasonous. The title apparently either means "My dashing darling" or "My gallant hero" depending on the translation. The significance of dedicating this to the president is the highest praise that he could receive in the form of a song.
Beautiful rendition of this wonderful song! One of my favorite versions, alongside of Mary Black's singing of it. deep feeling, reflective and memorable. What I like is that this version is more intimate and understated, the simplicity enhances the effect. The guitar accompaniment is elegant and unobtrusive and does not steal the show from the text. Without knowing Gaelic, I have a feeling that something very significant is being sung. Someone once told me that Gaelic is now just a hobby because everyone speaks English or French. But it is also culture and history and worth treasuring and carrying on.
