  • Hi guys, how are you doing lately? I'm a little busy with my work and I don't have the time to start a new project. so I decide to update this video and fix some mistakes before I move on to next one.
Ivan Lendl's nationality is fixed in this version. He played for Czechoslovakia until 1992 when he became an US citizen.
I couldn't update women's version due to the bug on the WTA website. The date widget won't allow me to choose a date other than today's date. I hope they can address this issue soon.

Which makes no sense. Nadal has his Slams more evenly distributed by surface than Federer. In effect, Nadal has won at least 2 Slams on each surface (hard, grass and clay). Federer only has 1 Slam on clay. 2 Slams on each surface >>>> 1 Slam on each surface. 2 >>> 1. Nadal has his Slams more evenly distributed by surface than Federer.

People, it's not fair to compare results and players from different eras, the conditions were a lot different than today's and it plays a huge factor in tennis itself.
Everything changed since rackets, balls, courts, marketing, training, diets, the people itself (height, nutrition, environment, money), etc.
You can't even compare Federer to Djokovic who is 6 years younger.

It's freaking insane to watch promising and indeed successful players like Murray, Roddick, and Wawrinka rise and fall all while Federer, Nadal, and Djokovic just keep resurging over and over again. In 2016, it looked like Federer and Nadal may be on the way out due to the wear and tear. One year later, they split the four slams. Then in 2017, it looks like Djokovic might be degrading, one year later he's winning slams again. Meanwhile, multiple guys who entered around the same time as Nadal and Federer's dominant rise and battled them early on like Roddick are *retired*.

So the 90's started with a nice three-way rivalry between Edberg, Becker, and Lendl. Eventually giving way to Courier who had a nice stretch. Then the rest of the decade was dominated by Sampras with a rotating cast of competition. Most notably Agassi and Rafter. The noughts started with a good mix at the top, with Safin, Kuerten, Ferraro, Agassi, Hewitt, and Roddick all competing. Then in 2004, the Golden Age of Tennis began. Federer becomes #1 and dominates. Roddick is the next closest but he loses pretty much every time. A couple years later Nadal enters the scene and becomes Federer's only real competition. By 2008, Djokovic and Murray arrive and help form the Big Four. The next 9 years the Big Four dominate tennis like has never been seen before (shout-out to Wawrinka for being one of the few contenders). Murray slowly drops off due to injury problems (perhaps still the 4th best player of all-time), and the Big Four becomes the Big Three. And since 2017, the Big Three continue to dominate. For the last 16 years, one of Federer, Nadal, Djokovic, and Murray has been the world number one. In a sport that traditionally players are only in their prime for 3-5 years. How much longer can they keep this up? Who will be the next star of tennis? Zverev? Tsitsipas? Shapovalov? Auger-Aliassime? Medvedev? Rublev? Sinner? I would say in the next year or two we can expect a new number one, but I've learned to never count out Djokovic, Federer, and Nadal.
Before it's all done, I hope Federer wins another Grand Slam and takes back the world #1 for one last stint. I hope Nadal and Djokovic both reach 20 Grand Slam Championships. And I hope Murray is able to come back from injury for one last miracle run and win one more Grand Slam (or both the Aussie and French Open to get the Career Slam).

Sampras era would've been much nicer if he had a true rival. Everyone wanted it to be Agassi, but let's be real, if it mattered Pete always won. This current BIG3 only exists because of each other. If there was no Nadal or Djokovic, I truly believe Federer would've retired a few years ago, he would simply have become bored. Now they are pushing each other to heights never seen before.

I always thought Federer was more dominant for being #1 than Sampras... but he really only held it for four years (then battled with Nadal and Djokovic for the last 10 years)... Sampras was unbeatable for a good 7 years with some splashes of other players here and there. And Agassi was a big surprise... still in the top 10 at age 36. Pretty crazy.

Karlo Popuschek I’ve been watching tennis since 1974. Never in the past or now have I seen such a complete tennis player than Roger Federer. When at the top everyone is aiming at you. Sure Novak is a very good player. Now ranked #1 but still isn’t that much better than Federer. On any given day at 38 years old can beat Novak. 2019 Wimbledon Djokovic took the title but Roger was the better player that day. The tournament before that Federer defeated Novak to indeed Djokovic and Rafa ended the year at #1. The main Stat I like for all-time rankings is weeks at #1 consecutively. This men’s they were at the top the longest. And Roger holds that. Plus winning US open 5 years in a row. Winning 3 out of four majors 3 times losing the French to Rafa twice in the Final. Ten major finals in a row winning eight of them. Ranked by ATP #1 all time and voted by the fans #1 just last year. Novak and Rogers head to head is almost equal. Same as Roger and Rafa. No doubt all three are great at the sport but Federer is the GOAT.

Vibing Shizuko Even when Federer was injured in The Australian Open this year Novak had difficulty beating Federer. In Wimbledon Federer had two Match points before losing in a tie breaker fifth set. Tournament before that Federer beat Novak to take away his number one ranking. So to use the term smoke him is over exaggerated. I have no argument Djokovic is among the legends of the game. Holding some great records. Now ranked number one is deserved. But put him against Federer in 2006 he would have been out classed. Federer is the most all around greatest tennis player of all time.

It's amazing that Ivan Lendl who became world No 1 in 1983 and then held the position for a good 5 plus years, 270 weeks from 1985 to 1990( except briefly for 4 months in 1988, when Wilander was No 1). It was the most competitive era of tennis and yet he still continued to be at the top at the beginning of 1990. It's a reflection of his consistency and longevity at the top. He had to contend with Borg, Connors, Mcnroe, Becker, Edberg, Wilander and yet he managed to win 8 grandslams, 5 year end masters world championships, reach 19 slam finals is a tribute to his grit, persistence and hard work.
