If you can start from beginning, but if you don't like old anime with ancient graphics, you can start from Macross Frontier, which has decent graphics, then to Macross Delta. But if you have a lot of time and don't worry about graphics then you can start from the beginning so you can know the whole story. Good plot and good music, especially i love "when the rune sparkles"
