Very fascinating how these gensets have evolved over ~40 years! I wonder what the next 20-40 years will bring for ICE generators, assuming they're still around and not completely replaced by large batteries for backup power.
Units, such as the ones in the video can be used for critical backup power solutions in the event the grid goes down. Our clients range from gas stations and small hotels, up-to large healthcare facilities, local utility providers, telecom service providers and even casinos.
I would still take the older model as the newer model is so heavily invested in electronics that a power surge in the new electronics would kill it. Yes it is definitely doable to improve the old one to be more feeicient but the less electronics is a plus.
@@chechnya oddly enough, I don't work at McDonald's like you're saying, I actually work in the industry that takes care and maintains these pieces of equipment and to be truthful. Electronics are changing so fast and you may have a 5-year-old generator or motor. This run with electronics and you can't get circuit boards anymore. That's why we're actively going back to mechanically run and controlled items because we can't get parts for new stuff.
NOT A 3408 I own a 3408 and they have 2 heads 1 for each 4 cylinder bank with valve covers covering 2 cylinders each probably should go look before commenting
Nice video!
Little notice, c32s have electronic unit injectors separately and not common high pressure fuel rail.
That 3508 is after cooled, it's in the center V of the engine it's called a water jacket after cooler

It's Caterpillar 3508 (V8) MUI mechanical unit injector engine vs EUI electronic unit injector C32 (V12) engine
You can tell this guy's a Salesman he didn't give this much detail on the first engine
Thanks to you to show us and tell about it
Thank you for the explanations!
CAT 3516B around 2000kw the 3508 is around 850kw not quite a 1mw
You can tell from the comments people who have no experience in generators.
Old unit is simple. New unit is complicated. New unit will need a cat certified tech.
Not that complicated if you know how to use the C32 ACERT.
What are these units used for.

Gr8 videos but Cmon you could have uncovered the 2001 Model !
Hello experts... this Cat 1000 kw generator, how many houses could feed? (normal houses)
Approximately 110 to 125 houses.

And that's why you work at McDonald's

Old stuff lasts alot longer than this new tree hugger junk ever will
If I need to ask you more about it ,How can I find you please. I have to much to ask
