I’m not a fan of hawk bill or karambit style myself... however, they do provide many utility functions than you’d think especially on farm/ranch. Cutting hay bail strings, slicing feed bags and fertilizer bags, processing cardboard boxes for recycling... Tried it out with a Rat1 over the summer, often works better than you’d think it would. Weed eater line, because of its blade shape from my experience cut through it much more easily than the straight edge RAT1... Depends on what you’re using it for. For wood processing (kindling, feather sticks) Rat1 everyday of the week over the Karambit.
My relationship with Karambit is as follows: I think they look so cool. I buy one. Find no application that makes since to carry. After setting in storage for over a year I sell it. I will say this. I've never seen action like that on a Karambit. Price seems reasonable too
I believe the Karambit came out of Indonesia, and the original design is a fixed blade, commonly carried by women. It was absolutely meant to be an EDC blade, if your EDC included farm work like digging and cutting roots etc like a sickle. Honestly not much use for preparing food and all that.
Pateron accomplished! How about doing some of the new QSP/CH knife that WMN just listed yesterday. I know,I know but CH may makes one of the best budget flippers around and these are new releases at a very affordable price point. The QSP with the flax handles also looked interesting so I picked one up in spite of not being in the market for a budget folder,as you probably know WMK also offers 10% off all inventory and no minimum free shipping and the owner is one fine human being, he fields all his own inquiries. The Ring is designed in line with the center line (pivot) of the handle, ie the Ring should be made slightly off centered away from the center line so that the pinkie or index finger (forward or reverse grip) is slightly ahead of the other fingers in a C shape and not behind the rest when gripping (pinkie or index finger at either end of the C just slightly) Look at the fox, spyderco kerambits the rings are off centered ... the handle Ring curves away from the center line of the handle! Whenever you bend 4 fingers to touch your palm, the ring n center finger touches the palm first together! The pinkie n index finger stays above the other 2 fingers...That's the logic for a more C shape handle!
Nice review ! Not really in to karambits , if I would consider a karambit it would be not a folding knife.I thinl for self defense a fixed blede makes more sense. but that 's just my opinion.
