Congratulations on 1 year. A delightful episode. Looking forward to seeing your elderberry color sweater emerge. Hope you stay warm and cozy through the blizzard.
Finally got to watch this one. So fun to see you and Amy together. Amy, you knit that Colorwork when you were 13??? 😳 Just Fantastic! My favorite is the tan bag with the embroidery. Hope to see you on PJ’s Zoom again soon.
Congratulations on your first year podcast. Thanks for a great one. Lovely knits and your daughter's knitting projects are beautiful. All those project bags are stunning, I especially like the first one.
Congratulations on one year of podcasts. Your knits are always inspiring. Amy is definitely a skillful knitter as well. I really liked the second colourful bag but they were all nice. I’m so glad the strike ended as well.
Hi Margaret, it was lovely seeing you and Amy. All your projects were wonderful. I love the colours in the Button Jar bucket bag. Hope to see you at the zooms again soon. Cheers
Hi Magret thanks to @Jalene I start to watch your creative knitting Snow wonderful knit weather O my your Albertine jacket Your back panel so so so beautiful Steaking look so tricky. Hi Margaret! Congratulations on your one year podiversary! Your daughter is lovely and such a beautiful knitter! I hope to knit the Foxthoughts sweater this year. Take care - Pamela
Margaret it was so lovely to finally meet your daughter Amy she has knit some wonderful things 😊 Congratulations on one year podcasting 🎉 This year I am planning to do a colour work project I have bought so many beautiful pattern! I would love any of the bags if I was chosen as the winner!
Thank you. I love the Setesdal sweater and recently saw a pink and beige version which really caught my eye. I might have to give it a try someday. Happy knitting!
I absolutely can relate to the "picking colors you like to look at, but don't necessarily suit you" feeling lol. All the projects in this episode look lovely on you though! and I love that you and your daughter can share the hobby like this!
Thank you! I do enjoy that my daughter and I share the same passion. Sometimes we even do a knit along together but we are quite competitive about who gets the most done first!
The project I am most excited about is finally starting the Altheda Sweater by Jennifer Steingass this weekend using Plotulopi yarn with my friend Nancy. We bought the yarn last spring but due to all that life brings, have had a hard time getting together to knit. I would be thrilled to use either of the bucket bags if I am lucky enough to be chosen a winner. Meeting your lovely daughter was a treat, she is so talented! The sweater she was wearing was beautiful. Congratulations on one year!
Thank you so much. The Altheda is beautiful and Plotulopi should work up beautifully. I love Plotulopi and can't wait to use it again in the future. Happy Knitting!
How nice to meet your daughter and her wonderful knits 😊. I also enjoy watching PJ Knits, and I'm taking part in her KAL, which is to knit a Hap. I've had the pattern for the Hansel Hap, so I'm happy to knit it for the Hap-along. I'm also knitting my first Jennifer Beale pattern (for a KAL hosted by Knitting With Cat Hair), and I'm loving it...I think I'll be doing many more of her designs 😊
Happy First Podiversary indeed! I loved seeing your talented daughter's knitwear. I like your colour combination for the Alpine sweater, but on my screen the variegated one for the contrast showed some dark purple sections which may have been a reflection, but if not that might be a problem next to the dark cranberry MC. I think it was Tash of the Mostly Knitting podcast who suggested avoiding variegated yarn as a contrast that has any of the main colour in it, as that would get lost next to the MC and "muddy" the finished design. It may well have been how the yarn showed up online, but her suggestion is a good consideration when selecting yarns. Your friend is so kind to give you those three project bags as prizes. They are all different, each interesting in their own way, but my favourite is the orangey-coloured one with a botanical design.
I have been wondering the same thing about the contrast yarn so I am going to do a swatch just to make sure that it pops enough without getting muddy. Thanks for commenting!
Hi Margaret! It was interesting to see Amy & your knitting projects. I have more years experience with crochet than knitting. I am a long way from trying to knit a sweater... maybe a goal for end-of-2024? As of this weekend, I have just started learning to knit short rows. Very happy that I watched your video this evening & I look forward to popping back again! (Cathy W YarnWithHeart)
Hi Cathy! You should definitely make a sweater this year. A great pattern is the simply stripes by Suvi knits. She does a fingering version and a DK version. It is well written and to keep it interesting you can do any kind of stripes that you want or even knit with just one colour. I too look forward to more of your episodes. Happy knitting!
That was just delightful to watch. My favorite part was when your daughter talked about going shopping in your yarn stash. I hope one day my kids will knit so well and do the same. Your jacket project with the steeked armholes was also very intriguing! I've got my first steek in my future, but this was very eye opening in terms of the possibilities for colorwork in the round!
Oh, thank you so much. Your comments were very encouraging. My daughter loves to shop in my stash and it is quite large so she can have her pick of anything she wants. lol. I will be making a tutorial next weekend on my steeking process and will upload soon. Thanks for watching!
What a talented daughter you have Margaret! So lovely to meet her and see her gorgeous projects. I will definitely be knitting Sun in Setesdal one day! Your projects are so inspiring and I am very thankful for your sharing of your needle-felting steek experience as I now plan on using this method in the future 🤗 Congratulations on your Podiversary!! 🎉✨️ And thank-you for the generous giveaway! I immediately fell in love with the 1st bag you showed 😍 and I plan on knitting (among MANY other things) Marie Wallin's Yell and Sidsel Hoivik's Starry Night Long Jacket this year. Thanks as always for the inspiration 💕
Thanks Nikki! I can't wait to see how your Starry Night Jacket turns out. You are adventurous with the Yell. It looks quite time intensive but I have no doubt that you can do it. Happy knitting!
Congratulations on your one year anniversary!! 🥳🎉 That Elderberry colorway is phenomenal. I can't wait to see your finished work with that beautiful yarn 😍 In 2024 I am hoping to dip my feet in to some colorwork. Something that I've never done but seems very intimidating. That colorful bag is super fun. I love, love bright and loud colors & patterns. Super cute!! Good luck to everyone ☘🤞
Thank you so much!! You definitely need to try colourwork this year. Once you start you never want to stop. A cowl would be a great first project. I am going to make a swatch for my Alpine Bloom to see how the yarns play together. I will show it on my next episode. Happy knitting!
Happy New Year and congratulations on one year of podcasts. I love to see all the colour work you do, it’s absolutely gorgeous and your lovely daughter takes after her Mum in her creativity. What a beautiful young lady, you must be so proud of her. My daughter can knit and crochet, but it’s taken a back burner for her studies to be a vet. Those bags are beautiful, I especially love the second colourful one, it really caught my eye.
I can understand why your daughter had to put knitting on the back burner. The vet studies are very intensive (I once was looking into becoming a vet but terrible eczema meant that I can't wash my hands often or wear gloves). I wish her luck. Someday she will come back to it. Thank you for the congratulations. It has been a fun year of learning and connecting with great people.
Your Albertine is amazing and needle felting the steek is brilliant! Someday I will steek… Congratulations on one year! I think all the bags are lovely.
Loved seeing the progress on your stranded project as well as seeing the beautiful work from your daughter. As someone who also sews, I learned this summer that there was a needle felting attachment for my sewing machine (a Bernina). I was able to find it used so saved some money but haven’t had the chance to try it out yet. I want to knit Marie Wallin’s Orkney this year so I should have the opportunity then! Congrats on a year as a podcaster. Your giveaway is very lovely. I particularly love the bucket bag!
I never knew that a sewing machine could have a felting attachment! That is so interesting. I hope you get the chance to knit up the Orkney. It is a lovely pattern.
Wow, so much snow in Quebec, Alberta has big snow too these few days. Happy Podiversary. Nice seeing you and your daughter talking bout knitting projects. I would love to crochet more sweater for my granddaughter this year. The botton jar bag with beautiful lively color is really gorgeous.
Hello Margaret, we had quite a lot of snow here as well , with more on the way soon. That's a nice Mary Maxim sweater. I have a few things I'm wanting to start as well. I'm so glad I found your channel a few months back. I like the winter snow , it is a cozy time to knit. Take care❤
The snow makes me want to knit faster so I have more wonderful woolly things to wear. Wool definitely helps keep you warm up here. Glad to hear that you are enjoying your knitting too. Happy Knitting!
Congratulations on your podiversary. I enjoyed your episodes a lot. Your color works are amazing. I am hoping to knit lounge pants this year as well as a color work sweater.
Wow- Amy you do amazing knits (just like your mother!). Thanks so much for sharing. This year I would like to do more colourwork and to try steeking a sweater. I never win anything but my favourite bag is the button jar one. Stay warm!
I'm so glad your daughter finally joined you on the podcast! She is beautiful and a great knitter; I enjoyed seeing her projects. I'm interested to see how your needle-felted steeks turn out. I've seen another podcaster use that technique and it makes me want to try it. The blue sweater hanging on the wall is gorgeous! I'm hoping to get started on another afghan this year. Of the bags you showed, I really like the colorful teal one with the giant flower (?) on it. Congratulations on your pod-a-versary! Here's to another year. 😀
Thank you so much Joy. I will pass on your comment to Amy. She will be pleased to hear that someone commented on her knits. She is already planning on joining for an episode this summer. The blue sweater on the wall is the Vinterfjell by Skeendeer. Really a beautiful sweater but I would probably make a bigger size if I were to knit it again. I made it with Holst so since the yarn is so fine which produced a smaller top. I will definitely keep going for another year and see how it goes. That is cute that we named our daughters the same way. Best wishes for lots of great knitting in 2024!
Hello Margaret, so lovely to see you and your daughter, so many beautiful knits between you two, and the crochet too. I lost my colourwork knitting mojo thanks to the plague and am hoping to get it back some day, right now all i can knit are socks. All the bags are pretty, but as i am in europe and postage would be too expensive, please exclude me from the givaway. All the best, stay safe, stay happy, Su / Pinguinpullover
Socks are fantastic projects and so useful. Maybe you could try colourwork socks to get back into the colourwork vibe. Thank you for commenting and being a part of this great community. Happy knitting!
@@mywonderfulknittinglife oh, yes, socks are great but colourwork socks - as all colourwork - require counting of stitches and following a pattern, neither of which my brain wants to do right now. I hope this is reversible and since most of the other symptoms i experienced (except fatigue and shortness of breath) are slowly subsiding i am confident that the mojo will return. I just have to be patient :) It´s only been 9 weeks, so there is much hope. Happy knitting to you, too!
Congratulations on your podiversary! I have just started a Mellow Mood sweater in a lovely dark purple. If I win, I would love the Button Jar bag. I have admired her bags for some time but have never purchased one.
Hi Margaret: Congratulations on your first podiversary! Happy New 2024 and continued success with your lovely podcast! Wow, how awesome that your daughter Amy knits. My daughter has no interest in knitting by or crocheting. When she was young, I made sure to teach her how to sew a button and basic mending stitches. Amy’s sweaters are amazing. How wonderful your daughter enjoys knitting, I wish my daughter knits. In 2024, I am hoping to knit the Garden Gate, Always Vest, Tegna. I’ve attempted these last year but was not successful. I want to be able to give it another try to have the finished sweaters this year! I love the first project bag, all of them are great as well. Thank you for the knitting company! Happy knitting! ❤
Happy Podiversary. Another enjoyable episode - you enjoy knitting things that are different than almost every other podcaster presents. This year I plan to knit a couple of patterns by Jennifer Beale (Jack Ladder, and Joe Batts Arm), and Hinterland by Jennifer Steingass. Right now I'm working on the Epidote Vest, by Emma Vining. I'm glad your daughter decided to join you. While being an avid knitter myself, none of my children are interested, although my 10 year old granddaughter has taken up crochet. The Button Jar bag caught my attention - love the bright floral design.
Thank you! It has been a wonderful first year. I am so glad you enjoyed this episode. It took some convincing to get my daughter to join for the first time. Your knitting plans sound wonderful.
Happy New Year and Happy Podiversary! It has been a pleasure to sit down and catch up on your last few episodes. I’ve been enjoying seeing the progress on your colourwork sweater-it is going to be stunning. I also enjoyed meeting some of your family members and seeing their projects. All the best for 2024.
Love your show! ❤congratulations on your 1 year anniversary all the bags are beautiful if I were lucky to win I would love the tan one you showed first. Yourcolourwork is so inspiring, I'm featuring the Bunny muff patterns on my podcast over the next couple of months, and I'm totally looking forward to knitting up the Alpine Bloom as well. Lovely to meet your daughter ❤ Happy New Year
Hurrah for Teachers! Hurrah for English speaking teachers in Qc. Mary Maxim was ubiquitous for me in the ‘50s and early ‘60s with the lovely sporting motifs: skating, skiing, etc. Love Sidsel Høivik sweaters, the extra details are interesting and rewarding.❤
You made me smile and then laugh when I read your first two sentences. I remember eating up the Mary Maxim catalogue before there was online shopping and numerous yarn stores. Kind of like the Sears catalogue but for crafters. Thanks for watching!
When in doubt, swatch it out! (for your Alpine Bloom) Those colors are amazing!! My 2024 is all about colorwork, starting with the Dala sweater. I'd be interested in the Kaliko bag.
@@mywonderfulknittinglife Isn't it wild the way a mohair can change the appearance of a yarn?! The way you can affect a fade with only changing mohair is fabulous 👌
Have been enjoying your podcast as I kinit. I am loving the Albertine! I aspire to do a Sidsel Hoivik (sp?). Presently, I'm knitting a Kristen Wiola Odegard pattern from her lovely book Scandinavian Sweaters. I want to knit all of these patterns. If my name is chosen, I would love to have any of the pretty bags, but my favourite is the beige one with the botanical design that you showed first. Regards from a fellow Canuck! I also enjoyed the snow day--perhaps we need a knitting teachers group :)
A knitting-teachers group sounds like a great idea! I have the Scandinavian Sweaters book and I want to dig in a knit at least 2 patterns that are in there. So many great knits but never enough time! Best wishes!
I am planning to knit the Land 'o Cakes cardi by Kate Davies.and cast it on just as I was tuning in to the podcast. I have lots more on the list including 2 shawls , a couple of colour work cowls, the Botanic colour work pullover by Unwind knits I love bag no.1 with the botanic design.
I love Kate Davies and I have got Unwind knits on my radar. I definitely want to knit one of their sweaters but it will be hard to choose. They are all so wonderful. Enjoy all of your projects!
I'm less fearful of steeking after seeing how it's going for you with the needle-felting method. Aren't Jennifer Steingass's patterns so lovely? I'm hoping to start The Storyteller in the near future.
I love Jennifer Steingass patterns. She is such a talented designer. I want to try making one of her patterns in Plotulopi in the future. Thanks for watching!
Just pondering your sleeves... I wonder if it might be easier to do some of the embellishment while the sleeves are short. Also, I loved making the Lindal Torkle!!!!! I used Junction Fiber Mill yarns.
I think you are right and I think I will start working on the embellishments soon as dealing with the whole garment when doing so will be a handful. I wanted to use the Making Tracks yarn but being in Canada made it a bit difficult to order. I will see how it goes with the yarn I have and maybe in the future I will get my hands on some of their yarn. Happy knitting!
I met the designer Ona at Rhinebeck last year and she had her new handbag (Lindal Kunstletasche) with her. It was amazing and also on my must knit list for 2024. To reduce the number of ends I carried the yarn between the stitches and it worked really well. On the next one I am going to try using a russian join.@@mywonderfulknittinglife
Hi Barbara. Your cardigan is beautiful. I haven’t done a steek before. I to be brave and go for it. I have done needle felting before and “know” how sharp the needles are 😖😩😂. Xx
Another great episode! I am so happy you shared more of the steeking process. I’m planning to make the Valldal Ladies Cardigan by Sandnes Garn which is steeked, so I’m nervous and excited to give that a try. I’m quite jealous of all the snow you are getting too!
So happy that Amy joined you!!! Our area schools had 3-4 now days last week so I tried to get a lot of knitting time in!
That is a lot of snow days but great knitting time!
Congratulations on 1 year. A delightful episode. Looking forward to seeing your elderberry color sweater emerge. Hope you stay warm and cozy through the blizzard.
Thank you! So glad you enjoyed the episode. I can't wait to finish my jacket too. It is a big knit but it will be a fantastic piece when it is done.
@@mywonderfulknittinglife yes! the jacket looks fantastic. Such a lot of effort, attention & care.
Finally got to watch this one. So fun to see you and Amy together. Amy, you knit that Colorwork when you were 13??? 😳 Just Fantastic! My favorite is the tan bag with the embroidery. Hope to see you on PJ’s Zoom again soon.
Thank you! I hope to get to the zoom this week. Unfortunately I was hit with a flu virus but I'm much better now. See you soon!
Love the sweater your daughter is wearing.

Oh, I have not heard of the Mellow Mood Sweater. I will have to look that one up! Thank you for the congratulations!
I love the Tegna pattern. It is definitely on my wish list of future knits. Glad I can give you some knitting company! Best wishes.
Wow so much snow and I love the projects you’re working on! ❤
Thank you! 😊
Thank you! You are so nice to say so. I can't wait to see your projects this year! Hopefully 2024 will have lots of knitting in store for both of us.
Congratulations with your podaversary, and I love the felting idea! I might have to try that myself one day.
I hope that you do. It makes steeking so much easier!
Lovely to meet your daughter ❤ Happy New Year
I will check out your Bunny muff on your podcast. Thank for letting me know about it and the nice comment. Best wishes!
You are so right! I should do a swatch to see how the 2 yarns look together. Good luck with your Dala!
Xx
The needle felting needles are scary but they work so well for steeks. Hopefully I will never have a mishap with them!
Another great episode! I am so happy you shared more of the steeking process. I’m planning to make the Valldal Ladies Cardigan by Sandnes Garn which is steeked, so I’m nervous and excited to give that a try. I’m quite jealous of all the snow you are getting too!
Once you have done a steek you will wonder why you haven't done it before. We definitely have a lot of snow now! It is still coming down.
