As long as the city won't explode into a metropolis, there won't be those ugly high-rises and concrete blocks anywhere, and actually build low-style residences near the sandy beach with restaurants, more parks, sports complexes, more trees, and just more respect towards Chinese culture... The city will be a blast, perhaps even the World's new California.
Dimitri, there are a lot people of your kind living in Guangzhou, except for some curious old folks who have never seen blacks before in their entire life (a bit of staring is quite normal), most Chinese are tolerant of you people. Also, there are many black soccer players in China too.

If I have to choose a place to live in and retire, Xiamen is one of the two places I would definitely pick, the other is Kunming in Yunnan.

A new and much bigger airport in diferent location but not too far away from will take place of the one you visited.
Xiamen is much more famous or infamous for a bus bombing that happened or didn't happen in May 2019 or January 2022... Not really sure 😃

中国不是移民国家，一直没有开放移民，所以在中国的大部分地方很少有外国人，中国人对待外国人最普遍的态度是好奇，无论白人或黑人
Wherever you go , as long as you are black, expect prejudice .
