Great reaction. This was the original half and half Japanese-English version. As they were touring they were humbled by their foreign fans learning the Japanese lyrics to their songs to sing along with them. They wanted to show their appreciation and challenged themselves to learn a song completely in English to reciprocate and show their own respect - 'The One' is that song and they dedicated it to their fans (also The One of course) - it is effectively their love letter to the fans. Early in the writing process The One was part of another song - their Prog Metal homage to Dream Theater 'Tales of the Destinies'. The two songs were separated , but they are the last two songs of the second album Metal Resistance with a piano bridge joining them. They only ever played 'Tales of the Destinies' live one time. That was at the end of the first night at Tokyo Dome in 2016 and, as on the album, the piano bridge led into 'The One'. On that occasion they performed an extended full English version.
14 years after their debut, with 4 studio and 12 live albums, 19 music videos, dvd & Blu-ray that sell like hotcakes… plus several world tours done and ongoing, haters better get over it, Babymetal is here to stay and make the world a better and happier place 😊 We are The One!
Great reaction, thanks! Well, 14 years of hard work and success have shown the world they were not a fad. Today, only a few elitists resist. And they are wrong because they think that BABYMETAL makes fun of metal and it's just the opposite. I know it because I was one of those metal elitists. I just discovered them five years ago (fortunately or unfortunately) in a moment when I had almost lost all my interest in music. And it was like a revelation for me: immediate, direct... I got totally in from the very first minute and I never went back. In my language we call this "lessons of life". 🤘🦊
Thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。 BM and BM's fanbase accept anyone for who they are. This song is a kind of symbol of the unity. Some people says this song is a shade bit too repetitive. But in their live performance you feel as if the length of this song were only 30 seconds and want to listen to it forever. I witnessed it total 13 times at various venues. Whenever they performed this song, I saw ethereal beauty and heard angelic voices. The famous 2015 live version is of course amazing by Su's voice with juvenile beauty but her matured and richer voice in this 2013 show sounds like her embracing us all. As Grington300 commented below, there is a full English version of this song. If you do search in TH-cam with keywords "babymetal 2019 one Philadelphia" you will find a beautiful video by Eevee Martinez.
Really nicely done and that was a sweet little mea culpa at the outset of the video. I was surprised as I had somehow not seen this performance of "The One" and it was dynamite. So double thanks for a good reaction and turning me on to a performance I had missed somehow. Best wishes.
Imagine the feeling you get hearing this, knowing it's a love letter to the fans . no matter the size of the venue . I heard it at Brixton Academy in 2019 it made me tear up . They stopped performing it for a while, but i am so happy it's back 😁🤘🏼🦊🤘🏼
Lol, your write up in the description box was so funny because it's true. It used to be about resistance to change and elitism in the early days, but nowadays? I think there is a large dollop of jealousy added now. Trolls are like 'Why can't my favourite metal band be as loved as Babymetal are!. My favouirite band play their own instruments godammm it!!!' Seeing trolls try to pull them down now is like seeing a fly try to stop a lorry by ramming it's windscreen or someone trying to put water back in the tap, lol.
Know this song in and out but still get goosebumps... Sadly some people think in genres and say they're not metal. Who cares? I'm not a metalhead, not a Jazzer, not an opera fan, not a rock fan...I am ALL. Theres music in EVERY genre I like and i dislike. I even went to a Verdi opera and a Rush concert in the same week. So always listen to what you like and don't listen to what you don't, but never yell at anyone if you just don't like their stuff. Music is, after all, a matter of taste. Greets from Germany and enjoy!
🍑 ⚡ 💕 /🔺 Momoko was definitely feeling it at that show. 'BABYMETAL BEGINS - THE OTHER ONE - CLEAR NIGHT' was her first show as Momometal, an official member of the group. She had been one the supporting dancers known as avengers since 2019, with a break in 2022 when BABYMETAL were on hiatus. They brought this song back after a two year break.
Kitsunes up! I was a “Babymetal hater” for all of 1 song (yeah, it was Gimme Choco, lol). But my soul made me click on more videos in TH-cam. 4 songs later, I’m a fan. Dat Babymetal Koolaid sure is strong 😅. Honestly, after becoming a fan, I have also been way more open to other types of music. Babymetal changed me, just like that! Saw them live a few weeks ago and it was amazing. Hope you get to see them in the near future too! 🤘🦊
Wasn't a hater but had heard Gimme Choco a few years back and didn't think much of it. Then I got tix to Knotfest Australia 2025 bc I really wanted to see them and saw BM on the card for the day. So I went down the provebial rabbit err foxhole and haven't been out for like almost a week..... and counting. I listened to all 4 albums multiple times on spotify including making my own 45 song playlist that is now on repeat. Watched 4 full concerts on YT along with unknown amounts of reaction videos. Can't get enough of the collabs with Electric Call Boy and Bloodywood. God damn Pa Pa Ya! just keeps ringing in my head. You're damn right, the Koolaid is strong and I have my head in the trough. Can't wait to see them - even on a shortened set. To see them in Japan would be totally mind blowing.
@ Haha, they’ll do that to ya! After that 4th song, I tripped and fell head first into the Fox Hole. Woke up a month later watching Sakura Gakuin videos. And I don’t even like Pop music lol. Awesome that you’ll get to see them at Knotfest AUS 2025! I hope they do an Arena tour of the US like EU next year too! 🤘🦊
@@markcollins1516 The path all of us followed... 🤣 Watched a performance or listened to a song, after some time it clicked, and after that: binge watching BABYMETAL concerts, constantly having earworms, buying tickets for their live concerts in your country, wishing to see them live in Japan, exploring their roots in Sakura Gakuin... 🤣 They are truly one of a kind. I was thrown into the Foxhole after 1.5 minutes of watching "Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!! Live @ Legend 1997"... Have fun at Knotfest AUS!
Wow, nice to see you enjoyed this one as much as you did! This song is not a typical one I see people reacting to! This one took some time to grow on me, but as I have gone further down the Fox Hole, I have come to deeply appreciate this song and its various iterations; especially this one which in part was commemorating Momometal as the new member and rhetorical emotion of this one hits deep considering the history leading up to this moment. If you liked this song especially for its lead, then I recommend you react to Trilogy of Lights from Legend Metal Galaxy. Not sure if you reacted to it before and it got copyright struck; but the three songs are Starlight, Shine, and Arkadia. Starlight is a bit on the down tuned heavy side, but Shine has a very eloquent guitar lead that reminds me of this one, and Arcadia closes things out with an epic power metal anthem! I wish you the best for next years show! It is going to be an arena tour which I expect will be a pretty bit show. Both Poppy and Bambie Thug are support acts and I think they will be premiering a new Babymetal x Poppy collab with that tour. Next year will hopefully be an exciting one!
You absolutely should go to a Concert, if you can! I have seen them twice this year and both were a freaking blast! These Women absolutely know how to put up a Show and entertain! And the Kami Band is just awesome, both the East- and West-Kami Band. One Show was at a Festival, the other at a Headliner Tour Concert. I would definately recommend a Headliner Concert, since its a Babymetal Crowd there, who knows what to do when and that just adds to the experience!
Just FYI Babymetal cameo on a 2024 Finnish comedy film Heavier Trip, its a movie about a band called Impaled Rektum journey to Wacken Festival. Babymetal choose as a controversial band that divides opinion in the metal worlds. Check it out.
great reaction, babymetal performed for the first time in South America (Brazil, Colombia, Peru, Argentina and Chile), they sold out in all their individual presentations in just hours and at the festivals they performed they were very well received, it is gratifying to see how All the girls' professionalism is rewarded with the public's affection.
Great honest reaction! As you may already know, "THE ONE" means all the performers as well as all the fans.
