- No complacency - and the far right are a massive threat - but after 'centrists' nearly handed France on a platter to the fascists, the left saved the day.

Israel has approved the largest seizure of land in the occupied West Bank in more than three decades, according to a report released by an Israeli anti-settlement watchdog, a move that will exacerbate the escalating tensions surrounding the conflict in Gaza.
Settlement monitors say the recent land acquisition links Israeli settlements along a crucial corridor adjacent to Jordan, a development they say threatens the formation of a future Palestinian state.
This is a similar outcome to when Farage thought he was going to be leader of the opposition but ended up with 4 seats 117 behind the opposition 😆
Rigged elections by socialist revolution
I honestly thought you were right wing.
The extremes of both sides start to blend together the further you go out.
Yes, when the French left sees a threat from the far-right they unite and meet it head on, not try to placate it by moving to the right themselves.
Exactly!
But the French "center" does.
They haven't united! The far left leader is imposing his demands and Macron gone from far right threat to far left threat!!! Macron and his party are facked!!! ......and you guys keep kidding yourself thinking life will become sweet when liberals have done nothing but serving the establishment and the rich .....
There is no alternative...
Moving to the far right, Darmanin and Attal did.

@@stavxplznah honestly I don't even care if the left wins in france, they will NOT be able to solve the current issues and France will go to sh!t, as a professional French hater I see that as an absolute win.
Yes but what about the future of France? With this Government that is not able to Govern?
RN won a greater share of the vote in France (37%) than Starmer's Labour did in the UK (34%).
wrong 32,7%
@@user-id9he2db6t Second Round: 37.06%. You can check it out wiki, mate.
I've lived in France most of my life. Nobody won this election, the leftist alliance called the Nouveau Front Populaire is a very eclectic alliance. Let me put it this way: a vast majority of the French population ( 2/3) - left, traditional right and center, decided that it was better that the country be " ungovernable " rather than governed by the far right. Parliamentary chaos was chosen over far right order. It's the only choice we had and it became self evident. Macron wanted to reinforce his power, he weakened it. This is a country where the nation decided to overthrow their king : people are fed up with " la Macronie" - but there is no viable alternative yet.
And be realistic, it s not next year that it ll get any better or even any easier.
The way to defeat the far-right is to improve the material conditions of the working class.
100%
literally can't do that importing the third world, this is why your nothing but s means to an end that will allow what ever nightmare fills in the vacuum
Won't happen, our problems, America, Australia etc is down to overpopulation, causing high housing costs etc housing crisis etc not enough to go around, globalists agenda of saturation, or do you think the west should keep borrowing trillions to ease the situation lol
What Centrists seem to be unwilling to recognise is often when the left wing moves centrist the right wing doesn't copy it moves more right wing. See Brexit see Reform, see the Tories. Labour moved centre and they responded by jumping further to the extremes. Meanwhile voters start to think there is no difference between the parties and they just want a change and the far right emerges saying 'look at us!'
The Overton window
I would not write this election as a victory for the left. Because all parties had to join forces to prevent a united right. Because apart from the goal of preventing the right from coming to power, the left alliance has no unity. In addition, I would not pursue left extremist politics now, as this would only drive people from the centre to the right. That is what happened in Germany and the AfD became stronger every year.
France has three years until the elections and if the left is not careful, the right could become too strong.
🎯
Blessings Andy I Hear You too, We Have To Remember that there's a deviant group of beings that are controlling All of Our Countries at the moment isn't there...
Labour's descent into the Center began when they purged Corbyn from the party after all the media smearing of antisemitism with Starmer finishing the job of pushing Labour to the Right via purging all the remaining Leftists and adopting diluted Tory policies. Not only did Starmer's party get less votes than Corbyn did in 2019 (Starmer got 10 million this GE) but Reform getting 4 million votes show that Far-Right is on the rise in the UK.
Liberals dont understand that you dont defeat the Far-Right by moving further to the Right yourself to make party more "electable". By doing that, you are merely enabling and legitimating the Far-Right so there is no reason for the people to vote for you.
Can't believe how relieved I was about the result just because it shows there is some decency in people & in politics somewhere!
Where have you found the decent people, none are in positions of influence?
Though increasingly less so
Nice people got dupped again...nothing to be relieved about
it has nothing to do with decency, but with a rigged electoral system
I can't stop crying tears of joy hearing the French singing L'Internationale
This abnormal coalition of 5 parties including Commies, Centrists and everything in between will last not survive long.
Eventually, Le Pen will come in - her votes keep increasing every time. The long game is key here.

Congratulations.
Soon they ll sing “aux armes citoyens..” tho
Sounds like you have a bit of an emotional disorder 😢 it's an election not a football match!
Love that picture of Le Pen crying. What a loser.
the right will blame it on women.
I certainly enjoyed drinking her tears.
Quelle perdante!
She didn't lose, she gained 60% more seats and got the most votes of any party by far. Her party is now the largest party, the left only "won" because they colluded and strategically pulled their candidates from the second round so their coalition would get more seats, despite the fact that the 3 parties in the coalition are polar opposites in many issues and there is no way they can actually form a government. And even if they did, have fun paying 100% inheritance taxes, green taxes, and letting basically anyone from Sub-Saharan Africa migrate as they please.

As glad as I am that a RN-majority in the French National Assembly was prevented, this is FAR FROM a humiliation of the far right.
They still increased their number of seats by about 60 percent.
And that only because the left and the center coordinated to maximize their chances in the second round of elections.
Unfortunately, we can expect that the French left will continue to waste time and effort on ideological trench warfare instead of on pragmatic policies.
If that happens, people will only get more frustrated and support for the RN will increase.

70% didn't vote for the Left in the 1st round and 75% didn't vote for the Left in the 2nd round. But they came 1st in seats due to the 'understanding' with Macron's group. Also looking at analysis of the 1st round (see Wikipedia) the upper class were most likely to vote Left, the upper middle class most likely to vote for Ensemble, and the working class most likely to vote far right - people identified as disadvantaged, the lowest category, voted 54% far right in the 1st round. All that's truly being debated are optics & velocity."
But that's not the fight anymore. Any democrat. Even the most right leaning still protects the foundations of democracy. Trump has already made it clear that he wants to establish an autocracy. These are very turbulent times I agree. I believe the trajectory is towards consciousness and humanity is changing quickly (the fast and vast movement of information because of the internet is a big part of it) - so the forces of regression - old patriarchal values and hierarchical systems. - are fighting back, but ultimately the movement of consciousness will prevail!

The Right will be in power soon....
According to official French Interior Ministry figures, the RN led in absolute numbers of votes with 8.7 million, followed by 7 million for the NFP, and 6.3 million for Ensemble. There were 1.6 million blank or spoiled ballots, and 1.5 million votes for the right-wing The Republicans (LR) party. The NFP vote fell and Ensemble rose because the NFP largely favored Ensemble in tactical voting deals to block RN candidates: the NFP withdrew its candidates to back Ensemble candidates in 125 constituencies, while Ensemble supported NFP candidates in only 80. (WSWS)
I think framing this as a big victory for the left is wrong - it is not. They should be looking at the reasons people are even tempted to vote for the more right wing parties and policies.
