Really helpful, thanks for posting. I followed these instructions with a 2022 Asus M16 (same laptop as in the video) using a Crucial P3 Plus 2TB NVMe SSD and it worked perfectly. The SSD was $91 on Amazon (June '23).
Can you please clarify something? I'm confused if the secondary M2 SSD port is expecting a 2280 or 2.5 form-factor. In the manual this info is nowhere to be found but there's a "the M2 2280 slot does not support M2 SATA SSD" warning that got me confused. It seems that the author installs 2.5" NVMe SSD but I thought the 2280 is expected? Which one did you put it?
Disconnect the battery at the battery NOT the motherboard. The thin metal that connects the board to the connecter can easy come free if you pull it the wrong way while trying to disconnect it. I had to take my computer to a shop to get it put back correcty. Disconnecting it from battery side does not have this problem
Im in a bit of a bind, I installed an m.2 on my brand new 2023 m16 (4070 version) and after that i tried powering on the laptop and now only the keyboard lights turn on but no display. Could this mean that I shorted my GPU or the motherboard? If so how screwed am i?

By not removing the battery and by merely just disconnecting it from the motherboard, you run the risk of static discharge from the presence of the battery leading to destruction of components. It is always best to disconnect and remove the battery , especially while making upgrades. This method is dangerous
Maybe you didn’t secure the metal clip over the battery connector properly. Make sure the metal clip doesn’t touch the motherboard at all (anything passed the rectangle line) or else u will short circuit it and break ur pc

Hello, do you think I can add a Samsung 990 PRO with heatsink to my GU603VI, or the heatsink makes it too thick ?
Did you end up trying this? I’m wondering the same thing
@@natefish2170 I finally installed the version without a heatsink (didn’t take the risk) and applied Thermal Grizzly Minus Pad Extreme.
Can it run a 990 pro ?
how thick is the thermal pad? 1mm?
1.5
@@thepcphone is it better if it was thicker?
Thanks

I stripped the m2 screw 😭😭😭😭😭
Me too. It was on so tight. Did you manage to find a solution?
My came stripppped
@@olavisalomaa i took it to a technician friend and he just pushed harder to remove the screw (he took less than 5 minutes)
I used a flat-tip plyer to remove it.
@@ethannguyen7562 I got mines out with pliers
My laptop stopped running on battery after I did this. Is the battery not connected properly or something else problem?

Same issue
@@saqibreza769 It's the battery not connected properly. I opened it again and fixed the battery connection now it works fine
Can you tell me what size screw drivers you used
Did you ever find a good one?
