You shouldn't be surprised because ancient Somali empire dominated Indian ocean trade route.Somali empire also sent first African ambassador to ming dynasty.
The Somali word for giraffe is still used in China,Korea and Japan since they introduced that exotic animals to those Asian people after their rulers requested.it's well documented

It is how scholars believed the world looked during the Ancient Hellenistic period which predates the world expeditions by the Spanish, English or Portuguese in the 1500s. This is way older in 323 BC so around 1 thousand 700 years prior. Or simply Google “Ancient Libya” and treat your mind to a little knowledge. "Worldwide patterns of human genetic diversity are weakly correlated with racial and ethnic categories because both are partially correlated with geography," the study says.
Moreover, the success of genetic matching depends largely on the number of samples in a company's database. "Even databases with 10,000 to 20,000 samples may fail to capture the full array of human genetic diversity in a particular population or region," the study says.
Furthermore, the study says, AncestryByDNA tests rely on "ancestry informative markers" (AIMs), which show genetic differences between what are assumed to be four biologically distinct populations: Africans, Europeans, East Asians and Native Americans.
But "the AIMs that characterize 'Africans,' for example, were chosen on the basis of a sample of West Africans. Dark-skinned East Africans might be omitted from the AIMS reference panel of 'Africans' because they exhibit different gene variants," the study points out.
The AncestryByDNA test also reads certain markers found in people from the Middle East, India and the Mediterranean region to be diagnostic of Native American ancestry, for which there is no historical, archeological or genetic evidence, according to the study.” www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2007/10/071018145955.htm

Somalis are half neanderthal and half Africans. Neanderthal were not fully humans and all non African have the neanderthal dna, which makes them not full mordern humans like the unmixed populations in Africa which is the west Africans, Nilotics, hunters and gathers, and the bantus.
But the reason why Somalis and Ethiopians are scoring west African on their dna component is due to their ancient Extinct ancestors who were of west African origins found in some groups in west Africa who we referred to having a ghost dna and a non African ancient dna that was brought by the back flow migration that look place many years ago.

Hi sister! As a somali, I have never done a DNA test, but all the somali people who have done the test, that confirm what I read in my research... Somali are mixage of people and that they *"ARE MORE ARABS THAN THE ARABIZED MIDDLE EASTERN PEOPLE".* Doesn't matter what somali tribe we call ourselves. We are more berbers (Amazighen - the indigenous of Africa) than the Maghreb people... and the same time we are *THE BLACK ARABS* from our ancestors *QAHTANI tribes* who migrated back and forth in east and north Africa because they were running from romans or other invaders of *AFRIABIA (arab peninsula). Even prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) was from the arabised lineage of *"ADNAN".* EVERY somali will trace some of his/Her roots in the middle east and we should embrace this connection because it is part of US that stolen by the *RACIST EUROCENTRISTS.* They denied and still denying dark skin people started the *"FIRST AND BRILLIANT CIVILIZATIONS"* from MESOPOTAMIA (Akkadia, summeria and Assyria), AFRICA TO HINDU CUSH (SOUTH INDIA)...

From what I've seen on DNA results, all people from the Horn of Africa are highly mixed. The same with North Africans, most of which have West African blood. The only 100% Africans are usually found in West Africa. Almost 99.9% of West Africans I've seen who've taken a DNA (and I've seen a lot over the years) are 100% Africans and actually, West Africans proper. Some of their ancestors are from different parts of West Africa. The pure Africans are usually found in West, Central, parts of East, and parts of Southern Africa.

My heritage is one of the least accurate dna tests. 23andme is the way to go. Alot of Somali people tend to be 90-100% Somali with some trace amounts of either Eritrea or Ethiopian.

@Shooting Star That's a sweeping assumption that's pretty false lol. One I'm not Somali and two there are plenty who do get high 90 or outright 100% just Somali. Or whatever blend of East African groups that individuals family happens to live nearby. Some may get Italian or Arab. The majority though from what I've seen have gotten 100% Somali or pretty close with traces of Eritrean or Ethiopian. It's accurate because unlike some companies they have a decent enough reference population sample to pull from for a good number of African groups. Enough so that it doesn't need to use proxy population comparisons. As these companies get more reference samples the more accurate they will become.
In addition to that bit many people who have tested with different companies including myself. As well as having a well researched family tree with a paper trail. The information also backs how accurate it is. Because my results reflect what is known. That's the same conclusion many people who do similar to myself come to. Even for individuals like myself who have a diverse background.
Whatever beef you have with Somali people is showing bad. You might want to take care of that before assuming alot based off so little. It's not unheard of to get 100% of one particular ethnic group. Especially when you factor in communities that hardly marry outside of their own like Somali. But anyways I'm off and out. Deuces ✌🏾

@Shooting Star It's not a problem if you have actually tested. Have you tested are you in genealogy forums and groups?
Some not all Somali carry those exact Haplos honey lol. If I could post results here they would speak more then my words could. When I'm off work though I will post a study. It will say in bold text that they have no genetic admixture from the Levant, Arabia nor does it show this ancestral component with other North Africans. It's found within Somali/Ethio populations as a indigenous genetic maker. I'll post this after work. Like I said some are mixed some aren't. Some are ethnic Somali vs being Somali. Believe me this isn't my first rodeo looking into Somali genetics or those of other Africans in general. Once again your hang ups on them are showing bad lol. Not everyone has to be mixed to look different. There is a reason Africa is titled the most diverse genetically but I digress

@Shooting Star Here is the link from one of the studies and I'll post snippets from it. You can laugh but I paraphrase what they point out same as before. Somali are unique and any admixture they have is ancient(25k) and aren't representative of current populations. They aren't as a people genetically tied to Levantine, Arabian, North African groups due to admixture because they have a ancestral component unique to them. Meaning there are individuals who will show as 90-100% Somali because of this unique component with trace ancestry of similar groups aka Ethiopian/Eritrean. Actual admixed individuals will get Arab, Italian, Bantu etc. These are some "ethnic Somali". Those Haplos you mention stem from SOME recent admixture for SOME Somali since the majority of Y DNA Haplos and MtDNA Haplos for the Somali population is indigenous North East African. The follow comments will cover this.

@Shooting Star Genetic studies have identified substantial non-African admixture in the Horn of Africa (HOA). In the most recent genomic studies, this non-African ancestry has been attributed to admixture with Middle Eastern populations during the last few thousand years. However, mitochondrial and Y chromosome data are suggestive of earlier episodes of admixture. To investigate this further, we generated new genome-wide SNP data for a Yemeni population sample and merged these new data with published genome-wide genetic data from the HOA and a broad selection of surrounding populations. We used multidimensional scaling and ADMIXTURE methods in an exploratory data analysis to develop hypotheses on admixture and population structure in HOA populations. These analyses suggested that there might be distinct, differentiated African and non-African ancestries in the HOA. After partitioning the SNP data into African and non-African origin chromosome segments, we found support for a distinct African (Ethiopic) ancestry and a distinct non-African (Ethio-Somali) ancestry in HOA populations. The African Ethiopic ancestry is tightly restricted to HOA populations and likely represents an autochthonous HOA population. The non-African ancestry in the HOA, which is primarily attributed to a novel Ethio-Somali inferred ancestry component, is significantly differentiated from all neighboring non-African ancestries in North Africa, the Levant, and Arabia. The Ethio-Somali ancestry is found in all admixed HOA ethnic groups, shows little inter-individual variance within these ethnic groups, is estimated to have diverged from all other non-African ancestries by at least 23 ka, and does not carry the unique Arabian lactase persistence allele that arose about 4 ka. Taking into account published mitochondrial, Y chromosome, paleoclimate, and archaeological data, we find that the time of the Ethio-Somali back-to-Africa migration is most likely pre-agricultural.

@Shooting Star As for your other comment. The bulk of Somali males carry native East African Y DNA at a higher percent. If it were true that they are as heavily admixed as you imply J or any other non African Haplo would make up the largest percent Somali males have but they don't.
      www.nature.com/articles/5201390
In Somali males, 14 haplogroups were identified. The frequency of the clade E3b was 81.1%, including 77.6% of the haplogroup E3b1 defined by the M78 mutation. The Eurasian haplogroup K2 was found in 10.4%, and 3.0% of the Somali Y chromosomes belonged to the major clade J. Only 3.0% of the Somalis had the sub-Saharan African haplogroups A3, B and E3a*(xE3a4). Less than 2.0% of the Somalis belonged to the Northwest African E3b2 lineage. In the present study, no individual belonging to E3b* chromosomes carried the V6 mutation, which identifies a subset of chromosomes assigned to E3b* (E-M35*).
That's not a large percent. I'm sure you would find Africans in the diaspora with a equal percent of non African Y DNA and MtDNA stemming from the last few hundred years. Yet no one would say they are all "mixed" even though their ancestry is admixed. And for some can make up 25%+ of their ancestral breakdown. That's more then most Eurasian ancestry I've seen show in a large number of Horner populations.

I Think, your Asian DNA could be from Indonesia who is moslem majority Country, every years Thousands of them go and live in Mecca and may be married with Somali or Arab in Mecca/Saudi, and there are also many arab trader who married local Indonesian. Indonesian is mix beetween East Asian (Chinese-Japan-Korea), India, Arab, and Melanesia, Polinesia (Oceania).
Your East Asian DNA, could be also from Mongol Conqueror who occupied Middle East and became moslem (Khanate)

The Huns, Avars and Turkic people also originated from Mongolia _(Orkhan Valley)._ .... South East Asians are Austronesians, Austroasiatic and Melanesians.... Their Sailors discovered Madagascar around 3000 to 2000 years ago.
