    PMs are my go to trout lure, knew it would do great for you. Never used a KM spoon though, I use a Little Cleo 2/5oz same color as the KM, blue and silver, it does well too. Both have their pros and cons, but both are very productive.
    Great job as always Jordan, keep em coming.

      I casted a castmaster beside a log jam and let it hit the bottom. I pulled it a couple times it got stuck. I twitched it to get it unstuck and it did so I went to rip it in and caught the biggest trout I've ever caught. It was almost 9lbs in a small river system. Panther Martin used to be my favorite river retrieve

    Panther Martin all day everyday. It is pi far in my opinion the single best lure to fish with especially in slow streams where there is not much current. You don't have to fish it as fast as a kastmaster would have to be fished.

    Just found your videos and subscribed! Though I love the way you rigged your setup, I disagree with your splitshot placement. It will cause line twist. What I usually do is rig another short piece of line(6 inches) and add a swivel at each end then add your splitshot to this. This prevents line twist. Now, great videos and keep up the good work! You explain your methods very well! Cheers from Canada!

  • @ljoutdoors906
    @ljoutdoors906 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Really enjoyed this one guys I would have to say Panther Martin is quite a bit better in the waters I fish!
    Panther Martin,
    Pros: I would say a lot better for creeks easy to keep it up high up in the water column and out of snags and I feel like my hook up ratio is a little better too but could just be me.
    Cons: I feel like they could beef up the wire a little bit on the small ones at least it bends really easy, smaller versions also seem to have a hard time staying deep unless there is a split shot pegged ahead and I do not generally like to do that cause then it spins and tangles while casting, and of course compared to the Kastmaster lack of casting distance.
    Kastmaster,
    Pros: Of course you can bomb these also a bit easier to fish deeper water and still fish bottom, more versatile too you can jig it, reel it and do whatever you were doing in the video also.
    Cons: Really easy to snag in shallow water I also do not have a super great hook up ratio but that could also be because I fish a lot of super aggressive small brookies...
    So for me it would be Panther Martin but like you were saying it depends a lot upon conditions, depth of water, clarity of water, temp and multitude of other factors!!

      powerbait typically works better for stocked trout. lures are great for most wild trout. this isn't to say that one can't catch the other, but just what your best chances probably are. worms will work great for anything! it's all about using what the trout's primary diet is. good luck!

    Looks like the line is tied to the split ring on the kastmaster. I seem to remember a video where the recommendation was to tie line directly to the spoon on the kastmaster. I’ve heard people say even a snap swivel will work if a person was wanting to try different kastmaster lures in succession. I would think the snap swivel would have a funny presentation and not attract fish. I’ve used snap swivels with the panther martins and have landed plenty of fish. I’m sure the advice would be to try everything and what works best use that, but any thoughts,tips, or suggestions greatly appreciated.

    Jordan, I remember in past videos you were speaking more highly of Light 10lb braid with or without a bumper, now it sounds like you are talking more highly of heavier braid. Im currently on 10lb with a 8lb bumper. Which do you think I could get longer casts from using Small Spinners, since I have tons of room to cast?
    I really appreciate your videos, Im from Long island, NY, in the exact town Panther Martin has its headquartes, but I grew up surf fishing the Atlantic. I am very new to Trout fishing so I have been binging this content!

    How do you deal with line twist with inline spinners and kastmasters? I’ve had some pretty gnarly knots blow up my reels from them

    • @brodiwheeler7583
      @brodiwheeler7583 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can either use a small snap swivel to attach the lures to (not optimal but solves it), Or if you just let the line spin out by dangling the lure with a few feet of line out (unspin the twist until it stops spinning) once you’ve retrieved the lure... I find this helps greatly to keep twist out of the line before the next cast. (Especially in rivers where the current imparts extra spin & twist to the line & lure)
      Hope this helps, Fish On! 🤙🏼

    I feel like the spinners just tend to catch size a little better than spoons day in day out, where as the spoons are a little more versatile

    I love the silver blade with yellow and red body. That panther Martin is killer here in Colorado

    I love panther martin. One of 2 favorite in line spinner along with mepps obviously. Favorite panther is the gold, red, and copper tone version.
