As a long time Dodgers fan I loved and respect the old rivalry between the Dodgers and the Reds in the 1970's. The was the best days of the old N.L West . Never again will you witness classic baseball like the old N.L West.
Gonzalo Reyna that was the only way Bowie Kuhn could fuc the Reds going out the door he knew he was a year or two away from retiring but you had the f****** f*** the Reds one more time Imagine Vida Blue being on the Reds pitching staff and 77 and 78 with Tom Seaver just imagine that it would have been reality but Bewie kuhn f*** the Reds.
- So what was baseball supposed to do, just carry on as if it was like any other season? Teams lost a 3rd of their schedule and couldn't make it up so what's the point of trying to carry on the season like nothing happened?? The split schedule WAS the right idea no matter how much people complain about it.
It was nice to get a dose of Bob Costas calling his second MLB game for NBC Astros vs Giants at 1:26:49 and 2:13:44. His first was the previous season in 1980 Red Sox vs Angels in 1980 with Tim McCarver. I wish that was on You Tube.
The only Cincinnati Reds player I remembered wearing number 35 was Don Gullett, also a Pitcher, and once upon a time, was The Ace of the Cincinnati Reds.
R.I.P. FRANK PASTORE WAS KILLED IN A MOTOR CYCLE ACCIDENT!! HE ATE THAT BIG STEAK IN HOUSTON 4 L.B. STEAK OR SOMETHING BUT I MET HIM IN 82 A VERY NICE MAN.
The Reds had the best overall record in the NL in 1981. But they finished 2nd both times in Kuhn’s stupid solution to the strike, so were denied reaching the NL West playoffs. The same thing happened to St. Louis; best overall NL East record, but finished 2nd twice. LA can thank Kuhn for their appearance, so can Montreal (their ONLY taste of the Playoffs) while the Phillies had a *losing* record in the “2nd Half” but were a Playoff team, Houston the same situation only they finished strong.
Joe Garagiola and Tony Kubek doing the call of the game. Just like a breath of fresh air.
was sad when they broke up so vin scully could pair with joe
I love this channel! These old games bring back great memories.

39 years ago, unreal
Reds had best overall record, never should of had separate records in same season.

The Cards got screwed too
- The Cardinals won the World Series the following season so it wasn't all bad for the Cards after all.

@@ckendall67 The Reds lost the first half to the Dodgers by 1/2 game and the Dodgers had played one more game than Cincinnati. How is that fair?

The 1981 Red were a great team.
Best record in major league baseball in 1981.
First time I watched this game I was 14 , now I'm 55 and it's just as fun.
I want to watch that Blue Jays A's game with Dick Enberg and Tim McCarver.
My nostalgia meter just blew up

i have never been a big fan of baseball but something about Cincinnati reds from the 70s-80s hits different

Players today don't have this type of emotion after a regular season loss. 1:18. They too busy taking knees for violent criminals.
ok, boomer
Rickey Henderson was probably highh on Cocaine, like 75% of the players in the early eighties
Agreed 👍
Did anyone get that? "Moskau (pronounced Moscow) is warming up for the Reds." And this game took place during the Cold War with the Soviet Union. Lol
Get What ? ... that's how it's pronounced
third time reds were the GOW in may 81.
There's something special about these 1981 Game of the Weeks.
Sounds like the alternate Bullseye theme at the beginning...
gargantuan good!!
This was Fernando Valenzuela first time pitching cincinnati.
Blue Jay mascot celebrating victory with the players. 0:58. You don't see this anymore in MLB.
You don't???? LMAO. Go home Boomer, you're drunk
Try and find a recent video of a team mascot celebrating with the players.
