      Simple Little Life
Absolutely. Cleaner and faster then as dremel or needle fike.
Love the chalk idea as well, we try it.

I have also herd that the chalk helps keep the files cleaner longer by not allowing the metal to clog the file. Not sure if that's true. But something to consider too.

I use chalk on all my files. Keeps em clean, stops bits of steel getting caught in the teeth and also stops the chattering you spoke of.

Simple Little Life I hope to send some pics at some point. I repurposed a knife home made tool last year I used to cut foam into a bushcraft style knife. It was from a metal bandsaw blade, I have been so inspired by yourself and a couple other youtubers Ihave done more and slowly built up my tools. I mainly re purpose metal from other saws or tools and don't have any ware to heat treat or temper as yet. Once I get on and Finnish the many projects I've started I'll send some of the pics. Thank you

My Glardon Vallorbe #00 Extra Coarse file works fantastic, and indeed the teeth aren't a perfect match on both sides. 15 on one side then 16 on the other but the two outside rows are half teeth on that side.

Someone had commented that Kens Gems in the NE has them and he had picked one up for $40. I haven’t verified that but that’s a pretty good deal. www.kengem.com/cat9_1.htm

so why not hot the thread fixing tool. Score a few lines, Clean out the bulk with a triangle file and then back over it with the thread file again to set the final positioning. Seems like that would work.

Sorry, it’s a 20 TPI but the teeth are off-set on one side so one side had 15 teeth and one side as 16 teeth but they are both spaced at 20 TPI. Sorry for the confusion. It’s a 00 file. 👍
