Perfect tool, lots of Versatility! I use one of these exclusively at my shop for every single build. I find it especially helpful for creating my final grind lines on hidden Tang knife guards. Nick wheeler has a great video on how to use that tool for different processes in knife-making. Great build in great video man!
This is awesome! I have everything but the aluminum on hand already, and I could definitely use one of these, so I'll have to whip one up. Thanks for the video!
Great Job mate! your spot on with the Ali chip loading, and its great to see you using Wd40 for lube. if you wan cheaper you can use Kero in a spray bottle. remember when drilling - if you drill your pilot a bit bigger than the web of your final size you can do it in 3 ops. spot drill, pilot, then main size.
Dang. I just bought a "knifemaker's scribe" from ebay for $25. It looks almost exactly like this without the 1-2-3 block and it has a tungsten carbide rod sharpened to a point instead of a pen scribe. I don't have any aluminum or 1-2-3 blocks though so I guess it's a wash for me.
I’m a machinist, 40 plus years, this is awesome , I have a starrett height gage but I really like this one, if I may make a suggestion you wouldn’t have to walk up when drilling small holes just put a small center drilled holed to keep drill from walking & have at it , run drills in aluminum at higher rpm’s w/ a little coolant , I am a subscriber , Thankyou for all the videos & May God Bless. P.S. my beard is gray & black mostly gray lol
Hey Michael! Thanks a million for the tips. I don't have much machining knowledge, so please don't hesitate to throw your suggestions in the comments of my videos. I need all the help I can get! Good to know on the hole drilling! Have a great weekend! (Oh and my beard is turning gray as we speak... one day I'll have to change the name of my channel... )
That’s a cool build, Mr K. I’m building my first knife at the moment. I’m about to start on the red micarta handle. I reached out to a local marble/granite company and they let me fish through the scrap bin for a free flat plate. I got a 1 square foot slab of marble an inch thick. For nothing! That’ll be useful for knife number 2....3...4.....👌 Stay safe, man 🇬🇧🤍🇺🇸
Great project and I'm trying to make it right now but it is very hard to follow along with the locations of the set screw hole and the scribe hole. You give the dimensions and location of the 3/8 inch hole but not the other two holes.
Sorry about that David. This was a good deal of time ago, I can't give you those dimensions. I do think they'll change with the diameter of the scribe you're using as well
I don't quite understand how this tool gives you the center line to prep your blade for bevel grinding. You said the carbide scribe can "get pretty close to the granite surface." Are you eyeballing the location of the first scribed line on the spine, scribing, flipping the knife over, repeating the scribed line, and splitting the difference of the 2 parallel lines to locate the center of the blade edge?
What Exactly is the blue Spray known as (I. E. Brand Name, type of Spray) I apologize for bothering you or anyone who can answer, I hear you say it in the video, but I can't quite make it out and I don't see it among the materials list in the description. I would greatly appreciate your help on this, and I appreciate any and All of your instructional videos especially those geared towards the beginning knife makers and/or the ones without all the fancy equipment.
Hey man, I’m away from my machine right now so I can’t pull the link. But I’m pretty sure I liked the spray layout spray in some of my beginner knife making videos’ descriptions
Hi my name is Keeton you don’t know me but you are my cousin my name is named after my great grandfather my grandma told me about you I would like one of your knives because it says my name!! So tell me how to get one please
Great build! At first I didn't see where you were going but when you put it on the 3/2/1 block.... genius!
Heck yeah, thanks man. Those 3-2-1 blocks are super handy to have around!
I swear the videos are getting better and better.
Hey JP, really appreciate that man. Thanks for taking the time to drop a comment.

He sure does! That dude is a legend! Thanks for your comment sir!
Genius...so simple but so versatile
It gets the job done! Thanks
Simple, yes but practical, useful & inexpensive especially for beginners and amateur knife makers. Just finished making one. Thanks!
Heck yeah! Cheers Jack!
Great idea , thanks alot for sharing this 👍
Smart, simple, and incredibly useful. I will be making one of these.
Awesome man! Thanks for your comment!
Simple and effective, thanks for sharing!
Thanks Mack! Have a great week!
Awesome, simple, versatile...... love it! Thanks for sharing. Cheers 👍🏻
Thanks Ben! Glad you liked it. So far it's been doing a damn good job!
Red Beard Ops inspired me a lot during my knife making jurney.
Thanks man!
Heck yeah man, thanks for the comment! Means a lot
@@RedBeardOps shure man!
Same here and I'm just getting started! Clear, concise and concrete; thanks Mr. Keeton!

Thanks! Cheers sir!
Superb! I am so going to build one of these. Great work.
Heck yeah Trevor, let me know how it works out for you! Have a great weekend!
EXCELLENT!! I going to whip one of these up ASAP!! Excellent video. Thank you.
Have fun! Thanks David!
Thanks!! I'm going to make one real soon.
Good luck sir!
Great idea!! I'll be making a similar version in the very near future! Thank you
Thanks Aaron! Still use this guy. Very handy!
Thanks! This is exactly what I need
Glad I could help!
Top tool. Made one and love it. Cheers.
Awesome Steeve! Thanks for your comment!
Very Cool!
Thank you greatly sir(s)! I'm a huge fan; hope yall have a great weekend in the knife studio!

What do yall use to scribe / mark your lines?
A traditional Height gauge, I have one Chinese and one Starrett.

Drillbit with same thickness as the knifeblade
Nice! Going to build one. Bolt a couple 3 2 1's together for a wider base.
That's a great idea! Thank you sir
Yea great stuff, it's simple but can be used for so much, the best type of tool, thanks for that.
Cheers sir! Thanks for your comment.
Good job and works as it should.
Thank you Tony!
Made on today ...perfect
Awesome Shaun!
very cool - thank you. I will be making one for sure.

Awesome, thank you for the video. I use drill bit or caliper. they're not bad but not always accurate.

Ingenious
Man I thought so too. Just standing on the shoulders of giants over here! Got the idea from Nick Wheeler and Kyle Royer.
Very Nice!!
Thanks Dan!
Great idea ❤
Thank you! I'm just standing on the shoulders of giants.
PERFECT!!!!
Thanks Juan!
Good job thanks
Thanks Don!
Additionally, you could make a block for a dial indicator rod.
Good idea! I like it
I just finished making your other center line scribe a couple days ago. I might have to make this too. Could you use it for marking bevels?
Sweet man, that center line scribe is handy. I think a set of calipers would probably be your best bet from marking bevel targets.
Awesome build. In an unrelated vein, my childish brain giggled every time you said P hole. Thanks!
Lol... it was difficult to narrate that.
cool, good idea cheers
Thank you sir! Glad you liked it.
amazing work, congrats. the day you go metric your life will be easier :-)
Lol, it's so hard to convert! Cheers Jerry.

Don't sweat it, I bought the same scribe and figured it out.
nice... you should put them on your website, and sell them.
Lol, not a bad idea really... Thanks sir
👍👍👍
Thank you sir!
I am from Russia, I don’t understand what you are saying, but everything is clear without words. Thanks for the interesting videos.

In the case of this tool I eyeball. I wanted two parallel lines. I find that easier to grind to than one center line.
👍
I'll definitely be making one of these! Great video man. How long did it take you to come up with a way to not say Pee hole? Lmao
A challenge for sure! LOL, I figured that was going to come up... Take it easy Nate!
@@RedBeardOps I'm trying brother but it doesn't often work out that way

It’s layout fluid, look on Amazon. Comes in spray on or brush on form.
