The 10 Different Types Of Raptors

- "Raptor" is a non-scientific, term made up for the Jurassic Park movie franchise. The name "raptor" was derived from shortening the genus name Velociraptor, while the dinosaurs portrayed in the movie were actually modeled after Deinonychus and what is now named the Utahraptor.
The term raptor is now generally used to refer to small to medium sized, bird-like dinosaurs. They share characteristics such as feathers, three-fingered hands, relatively big brains, and a large "killing claw" on their hind feet. Many people restrict the term to refer to dinosaurs in the Dromaeosaur family, though some theropod dinosaurs outside of this family bear similar characteristics. Even some dinosaurs with "raptor" in their name such as Gigantoraptor are not Dromaeosaurs.

0:20 the Deinoychus looks like it stepped on a Lego piece. :P
lol
Dakotaraptor is my favorite dinosaur. Some say it has the longest toe claw of any dinosaur. But others think the Utahraptor has the biggest. I have to say, the dakotaraptor has more function toes which means it’s claw might be bigger in live than the Utah. Though the bone of the Utah is bigger, the nail would make it 15-50% longer.
Dakotaraptor is my favorite too, it’s just such a badass
Do you know the size of an Utahraptor?
It’s concluded as the biggest Dromaeosauridae.
Also there is an Achillobator which fossil was the biggest among of them.
Dokatarapter is a turtle🗿
The Dakotaraptor was actually 19.6 feet long at estimate. They were the second biggest raptor behind Utahraptor and in front of Achillobator and then Austroraptor.
mine is austroraptor
Deinonychus is my Favorit raptor
Mine too ;)
Luanchuanraptor looks similar to a Platypus to me... I know there's huge difference in their size and everything
Deinonychus was the first raptor I learned about, pity it *wasn't* as big as the dakotaraptor to utahraptor. Missing from this list the achillobator.
Hold up... Lemme list all the raptors i know,
Bambiraptor
Microraptor
Butireraptor
Velociraptor
Dromaeosaurus
Mahakala
Deinonychus
Dakotaraptor
Austroraptor
Pyroraptor
Atrociraptor
Utahraptor
Changyuraptor
Gracilliraptor
Achillobator
(maybe unenlaagia)
yeah there's more than 10
I find the lack of achillobator disturbing.
@@whitewolf3051 bruh I forgot about that dude
@@hunter133official Actually, my comment was more towards the maker of this video than you, but the point still stands regardless I suppose. Sorry *if* I sounded negative to you.
@@whitewolf3051 oh, okay… It’s still okay if I don’t get it
Halszkaraptor, Mahakala, Hulsanpes, Nequenraptor, Unenlagia, Zhenyuanlong, Changyuraptor, Graciliraptor, Sinornithosaurus, Hesperonychus, Tianyuraptor, Achillobator, Saurornitholestes, Tsaagan, Linheraptor, and my favorite one, Dromaeosaurus are not shown.
It never said all of them it just said ten types
The smallest ones are a thing of nightmares let alone the biggest ones.
Utahraptor
North American raptors are more robust and were not as agile as the sleek speed of the south American raptors.
Original velociraptor
AH SO HOLLYWOOD DECIEVED US ONCE AGAIN. ALL THESE YEARS I THOUGHT VELOCIRAPTOR WAS LARGE AND FEROOCIOUS
Entertainment is garage what u expect
amazing video!
Good :)
Biggest and baddest raptor in the history of the world found in the US? Niice
Translation Raptor = giant bird 🐦
SCARY MONSTERS
Why do people insist on listening to broken English?
why no veloci
There actually Utah raptors because the raptor they made was way to big for Dakota raptor so while filming the Utah raptor was discovered and concoured it up as that
bro utahraptor had a weird jaw but it was rumored to be achilobator but overall they just made deinonychus bigger
"The name "raptor" was derived from shortening the genus name Velociraptor, while the dinosaurs portrayed in the movie were actually modeled after Deinonychus and what is now named the Utahraptor." What? Velociraptor, Deinonychus and Utahraptor were 3 different species. Neither Velociraptor or Deinonychus is now called Utahraptor.
0:20 Norwegian Elkhound, 19-21 inches at the shoulder, about 50 pounds.
There's more than 10....
Blue
Velociraptor rapture
So the Velociraptor is the ancestor of Deinonychus, he in turn of Dakotaraptor.
No velociraptor?
They left out Achillobator, too.
Lol it says why in the vedio
where is achillobator?
3:53 looks like a muderer blue jay 😂
You forgot another Raptor...Achibbilator.
i like blue the female raptor
You forgot dromaeosaurus and atrociraptor
0:30 well it was actually utahraptor
@caleb lavalley Utah boii is cool
No no, you got it wrong, in filming the actual "velociraptor" in Jurassic park series, is actually a deinonychous but named it velociraptor because it sounds cooler
@caleb lavalley you going to love dominion, they finally add Utah raptor
The Utahraptor wasn't discovered until after the first JP movie.
No it wasnt do some research before you speak.
So they are all birds now
I think paleontologists are pushing the feathered theory too much. Yes, therapods evolved into birds, and some of them likely had feathers - namely those that lived at the end of the Cretaceous - but re-imagining ALL of them as feathered when there's no proof as such is weird, IMO.
That said, I'm biased towards the scale-y drawings and will always prefer that design.
@@hanburgundy4317 I don't think there's any evidence to support Carnotaurus or Spinosaurus being feathered, at least.
I think she forgot THE maga raptor
Megaraptor is not a raptor. It's a basal coelurosaurid.
@@UtterNoobness thank you
you forgot velociraptor
U missed out about 5
Where is pyrorapter
Deinchasaurus LEGIT MEANS TERRIBLE CLAW
What? Lol
Where’s atrociraptor and pyroraptor
My favorite dino is buitreraptor
Same
You forgot pyroraptor mega raptor
Megaraptor is a tyrannosaurid like raptorrex not a dromoesaurid
@@au-817ttttx bruh megaraptor can't tyrannosaurid
Werre is megaraptor now megaraptor is not m'y favorit dinosaures m'y favorit dinosaures is velociraptor ,troodon ,gorgosaur and tyrannosaurus rex
Megaraptor was named after finding a single claw, originally assumed to be the infamous killing claw on the 2nd toe. It has since been realized that it was actually a finger claw from a larger, non-raptorid predator, similar in size to Allosaurus.
No
So utahraptor is like allosaurus size my mind is 🤯
Nah its like carnotaurus size. A really big allosaurus is as long as a really small T Rex
@@AeneasReborn Nah it's Utahraptor size. A really big carnotaurus is as long as a really small allosaurus.
Utahraptor is the size of jurassic park velociraptor
@@TheGamingDude869it's bigger than them jp raptors are 5.5 feet in height utahraptor Max height is 7 feet and 24 feet long
@gamingcreatesworlddd2425 wrong, the utahraptor is 24 foot long and 5 foot tall so please stop spreading misinformation
It was all a lie😢
what about atrociraptors??
I think they’re around the size of a velociraptor
@@juancabardo21 yeah
You're missing one.
The Megaraptor.
The velicoraptors in jurassic world are based off of Utahraptors
Actually it’s deinonychus antirrhopus there more based on
@The Gothic Prince's Adventures™ that’s true, but it’s confirmed by the director that they are based on a Deinonychus.
An Utahraptor is even bigger and way more heavier than the Velociraptor from JP Universe.
But they all lack feathers, which is extremely inaccurate, may as well be a completely different dinosaur
Fun fact:utah raptor hadnt been discovered yet when the origional jurasic park came out. So while all are based off of deinonychus, they kept the look and more fit the idea of utha raptor.
it’s actually older reconstruction for deinonychus, modified it and boom jp velociraptors
Here is the thing that annoys me so damn much, people calling the raptors deionycus, it's wrong, they are Velociraptor, they are just very heavily modified, and yet these people who know nothing about the jp lore don't even try to research it.
Of course, Michael Crichton didn't knew what he's writing and some anonymous commenter from youtube know better, right? :)
@@wnekuu Time for thine shame comebacks undoutfully disrespecting the fact I was speaking of the franchise set ablaze.
Actually no. Gregory S. Paul suggested that Deinonychus antirrhopus wasn't significantly different enough from Velociraptor mongoliensis to deserve its own genus, and should thus be reclassified as a 2nd species of Velociraptor, hence Velociraptor antirrhopus. Crichton was reading his work for research and went with it. The reclassification did not gain acceptance by the paleontology community at large.
@@wnekuu also bro, at least I get subs that wernt from your alt accounts.
@@uslegions2619 yes, but we ate mainly discussing the cinematic franchise and not the book, these comments about what Micheal was doing is irrelevant to the franchise since its different.
Question how do we know how intelligent they were? By the time humanity came out of the woodwork these guys were extinct for millions of years.
