🤘😎 : It Needs a standard transmission I would love to see an original Muncie and a stock car look just standard height with some nice steelie rims and some nice 70 series tires maybe even bias ply.
You thought about some "resovoir coozies" as merch? I think It'd be funny to pop the hood and the brake booster says "we gonna lose the shop" on some peoples hod rods
Nord VPN sponsoring this video was perfect timing for me. I'd been planning to get a vpn soon so now I can get this one and help support the channel. Win win!
It may be slow growing channel but tony starting his own show was definitely the best thing ever I really hope it pays off so people can see all the crazy stuff he can build
It's always best when you own the means of production and aren't splitting the procedes with a corporation. There's no question that they are succeeding. At least the community is still small enough that the comments section feels friendly. Eventually it'll be like a Whistlin' Diesel video and total Anarchy in here 😂😂
@16:25 Plumber here. The multiplier for pipe you have to remove on a 45 degree angle is 1.415. So you're at 15.5" and take 12" from that is 3.5". You divide that by 2 because there's two pipes .That's how many inches each side need to go in = 1.75" each. This is where the magic 1.415 comes in. You multiply 1.75" X 1.415 times and the number you have to take off each pipe is 2.47 inches. Or just shy of two and a half inches 😊🤑
I wanted to figure out how to measure to put an S bend in a piece of conduit and figured yeah this shouldn't be too bad. Well apparently you need trigonometry to figure all that out. I tried to teach myself trigonometry again for the next 2 hours to no avail. I gave up and eyeballed it. I guess I should have paid attention in school after all.
love that american humour!!!...got a 64 Dodge 440 2 dr sedan in 91 myself...coinverted it to a 426 stroker x-ram Hemi Super Stock clone over the years.....tons o fun over here.....people staring in awe and disbelief when in action......
Ohh man!! I tried to buy a 64 belvedere when I was 16! It had a rebuilt 440 swapped into it. My dad refused to drive me to go buy it. He must have known it was likely my coffin😂
Oh no! Pops might have been right. When my Dad brought home my '71 Demon, I remember Mom saying "if he gets hurt in that I'm going to kill you" to him.
Same, In 1980 I found a 69 SS Chevelle with a 427 /435 4spd Tri-Power swapped from a vette for $3k, my Dad took 1 look and said “you’ll kill yourself in that thing, let’s go”
@@StayTunedTA Of course I ended up being a vanner when I took over the wheel of his shag, party light, and curtain filled 84 Econoline he built and cut 6 windows in after he made his first payments. I've owned and built 7 Econolines and to my amazement don't have a single illegitimate child!
I was raised with old Mopar cars......all that was what got me into cars......and this episode was great....I hope to see more of it .(the car)...down the road....
Yeay! Luv'n the '64 Dodge,, Son! I had a '63 Polara, Torqueflight, 318. It was a DOG. The year was 1972, my Polara was only 9 years old and I LOV'd it! Always had hopes/dreams of dropping a 440, 4spd in it but being's I was a young feller, married with 2 kids and barely making more than $4.00 an hour, rent, utilities, food, clothes, doctor bills, etc., etc. my dreams for the car just weren't in the cards. After owning it only a couple years I sold it to buy a '76 Dodge wagon and my dreams of a sweet hotrod went on hold til the mid 80's. Watching you work on this beauty kinda takes me back to my dreams of long ago. GO MoPAR!
It's a 383, the car is a "440". It's SUPER confusing and I call it a "Polara" which is another trim model and makes Mopar die hards cringe. Can't win with this one lol. Thanks though! It's really good now.
I drove a ‘63 Polara 500 383 w / 2 barrel in the late 60’s . Same black and white colors as your ‘64 . Like so many of old us dudes say , I wish I still had that car today ! 38:4138:42
Hi guys...it's so refreshing to hear different oldish school music on your channel. Makes an ol petrol head glad. Love your content and look forward to the next instalment.
Growing up, we had a 1965 Chrysler New Yorker 6-window Town sedan (with the clear tail light lenses) that had the right hand twist studs (with "R" stamped in the end) and lug nuts on the passenger side and the driver's side had the left-hand tread studs (with "L" stamped on it). And since we put snow tires on each winter, I quickly (as a pre-teen) learned to do the driver\s side "backwards" without braking anything - or loosing anything. Great videos!
U have to take the u-bolts loose.jack the rear-end up a little, measure from chassis to the axle making sure both sides are the same. Then tighten the ubolts in a criss-cross pattern. It explains in detail in the 1970's Haines Chevy Camaro Repair manual
Yup, thrust angle should be 0 degrees and when it crab walks the rear end isn’t square with the front! It will “dog track” or “crab walk” and steering wheel will be way off center!
I like that this show has unique builds. Other channels are pretty much all the same, 4-cylinder = K-series, 6-cylinder = 2JZ, 8-cylinder = LS. Then just swap one of those 3 into every car shell. You guys are doing it right and doing different stuff, much more entertaining. You guys also usually match the car brand with the engine brand which i like. I mean taking the 340 out of the Demon and putting a twin turbo LS would just ruin it, put it in a Camaro or Silverado or something, where it belongs
Tony, it would be so awesome if someone like 440 Source or TFS would hook you guys up on a like 499 or 512 Stroker kit for a 400 block and some aluminum heads for that bad bish. I love the way those Polaras look, they are one of the outlandish early 60s Mopars that comes off looking really mean. I especially love that back end, I almost see a tiny bit of late 70s Dodge Diplomat in it, then it has the rocket ship front end that has a bit if the Turbine car and a bit of Ford T-Bird/Galaxie thing happening. Please get some rust reformer on it, maybe tape off a straight line across the bottom of the rockers, feather off the cracked paint, hit it with rust reformer (like inside on the roof, underhood, trunk type areas)and some white rustoleum, then buff it out a touch and it'll really look great. Maybe try some flex seal or something after the rust reformer to fill the tiny holes and stuff and put a thick layer on for sound and weather proofing...that car was a reallly great choice. Now Barb's truck needs a V8 instead of that slant 6 and maybe a floor shift A833 or something and that could be really cool...that or maybe an Aussie fan could find you guys a Hemi 6 and ship it over, I am pretty sure that would be a first on any of the major USA hot rodder channels, it makes sense since that design was meant to be a used in Dodge Trucks originally. Love the channel, I am always ready for the next video.
Old Mopars from the mid 60's to mid 70's are just cool Tony. We would like to see you do a little more to your non-Polara to make it a little better handling, and maybe do a little to the interior and consider hopping it up a little more and then drive it and drag race it once in awhile in your videos. ;)
My mom had a '64 440 very similar to that one except it was dark metallic blue with a 318. I think the '64s were one of the best looking Mopars of all time!
My very first car was a 64 dodge coronet 440 with the poly 318. Exactly the same car just had two more doors. Miss that car some much. Wife on the other hand not so much😅.
I have a full pypes exhaust on my dart, it's really good quality, fitment and sound! Also it is amazing how some simple fixes can make you basically fall in love with the vehicle all over again.
Gawd, how I love those ol' 60's Mopars! It fills my heart with joy seeing one put back on the road, lookin' and soundin' positively badass! This really IS the best channel on YT!
Love seeing this car on the show Tony! I may be biased though, because my 64 Polara is my baby. It had a similar issue with the brakes after putting discs all around and swapping from manual to power brakes a year or so ago. We chalked it up to lack of vacuum and installed an electric vacuum pump, as per the recommendation of the master cylinder manufacturer. It stops a lot better now. Not as good as I feel a power disc brake car should, but good enough that I'm not scared to be in highway traffic lol. I'd like to see how you solve the issue on your 64 at some point though!
I grew up cruising Pottstown and Allentown, street racing in Quakertown and later more sanctioned stuff at Maple Grove and E-town about a decade ahead of you. You've been doing this for a while now, but it's still jarring when I recognize a road or spot where you're filming. A lot more rust to deal with here, but it's good to have a top tier car show here in the East!
I look forward to the videos every week and congratulations on a job well done on the polara. It's always a good time to watch like minded people who love hot rodding, amazing pizza and good humor.
I love content like this. A real, sort of low buck driver car. It has a big block. It's fun to drive. Steel wheels with dog dish hubcaps. It looks cool as hell! Love that car! Now, it's fun to drive again, thanks to the fixes you did yourself. Great job guys!
I know you did a lot of work there, but really those problems were really a bunch of small things. It's amazing how small things can make a car seem like junk you just want to get rid of. With some smarts and effort you got it where it needs to be, good job!
The small things always drive you the most nuts! I put one of those A pillar gauge pods in my truck and the sun visor would hit it so I could barely use it. For 6 years I just dealt with it. I guess it was a minor issue so I didn't give it much thought. One day in the taco bell drive through I noticed their was a screw and a lightbulb clicked in my head. I loosened the screw while waiting in the drive through slid the visor over 1/2 inch on the shaft and tightened the screw up and it works and doesn't hit anymore. I felt triumphant and stupid all at the same time. I think about it every time I flip the sun visor down.
Had a '64 440 bought at Reedmans in '69 to take to college in Ohio. Replaced the 318poly (told my dad the block cracked) with a 383 from a '68 Sports Fury (same as a Road Runner). Had a 390 gear set for around town and the 273 for the highway. Got pretty good at yanking the pumpkin in the parking lot except for the 240 ft# to set the rear axle nut (1/2 breaker bar an a lenght of pipe). It would squeak like a loose chair leg if the nut wasn't tight. Mine was black with a red interior...loved that car could write a book.
Great example of a fringe car from the muscle car era that never was really part of the cool kids club but 60 years later shows how it really had the anatomy of the muscle car era. Cool build!
VGG transplant here... so glad Derek funneled a few of us your way, you all are real cool and fun to watch, although getting gourmet pizza rubbed in my face was a little painful... you guys rock, glad I'm here!
I'm glad it's back!!!!!!!!! I was just about to start asking where she was. This car is Awesome!!! My great grandpa had one, so I ended up with it. It's the one I had to sell in college to get by and regret. I would not let go of that.
mopar spring hangers are shimmable (which is awesome) for toe so that you can align the rear track. drop a string centerline anywhere in the middle of the vehicle, measure from that center to each axle tube (double check the axle is centered over the leafs..) to square the rear axle. then adjust the front to align with the rear. 👍
Tony, there's a company here in Seattle called Red Head Steering. They rebuild steering boxes, both power and manual, to work like new, even when the worm gear is worn down. They hand select the right oversize ball bearings to fit the worm gear, making it work like new. Cuz many old boxes aren't replaceable.
In the early 90s I bought a '64 Chrysler New Yorker from the original owner and drove it ~200 miles home. The steering was so loose that it would nearly change lanes if you hit a seam in the road. Turned out it had a totally worn out center link. I did a bunch of stuff to make it better and it was fun for awhile.

When Barb dropped the mufflers, I almost died. Thanks for leaving that in. Awesome Channel. I have your sticker on my Big Rig!
It had me cracking up too. you have to keep those moments we can all relate to them.

What kind of plumbing do you do?
I know this but I’ve been doing plumbing probably longer than you have been alive and never had to use it!!!

How many car parts did you buy without asking or did you breath wrong lol
This is the business right here man. Classic car project are badass and we missed the old Mopar!
Right on, thanks for watching!

I tried it your right and I thought squinting was for safety only learning everyday

The best channel on TH-cam! Great variation in vehicles, not trown together with nothing spend but also not 100K builds, so perfect!
"Honestly it wasn't all that bad but it's definitely terrifying and dangerous."
Never change, Tony.
Those 383's sound good. I have a 69 roadrunner with a 383 rams horn manifold and a cam.
YES. They rule! It's a giant small block.
HELL YEAH! That thing rips.
An absolute banger. Love the 440. The only car that scared the sh!t outta me when I drove one. Love the steering floatation option. Lol. What a vibe.

I know who/what you mean and I’m tired of that too.
I knew a kid in highscool that had that car with same trim and color, it had a 413 Wedge motor in it, cool cars, they arrs.
VGG transplant here... so glad Derek funneled a few of us your way, you all are real cool and fun to watch, although getting gourmet pizza rubbed in my face was a little painful... you guys rock, glad I'm here!
Welcome aboard!
When those mufflers fell off the X pipe I LOST IT.
Another great episode guys, keep it up!!
I'm glad it's back!!!!!!!!! I was just about to start asking where she was. This car is Awesome!!! My great grandpa had one, so I ended up with it. It's the one I had to sell in college to get by and regret. I would not let go of that.
Aside from seeing my daughter and wife, this is the highlight of my week.
Thanks Tony! I'm a RE t tired machinist and lifelong spearhead, but I've never seen a helical used. Never knew it was that easy.
mopar spring hangers are shimmable (which is awesome) for toe so that you can align the rear track. drop a string centerline anywhere in the middle of the vehicle, measure from that center to each axle tube (double check the axle is centered over the leafs..) to square the rear axle. then adjust the front to align with the rear. 👍
Nice work you guys. So many very weird things wrong with that old Dodge. Big congratulations for figuring that all out.
nice thomas dolby reference. @17:22
gen-x baby!!
Sweet ride. Thanks to Tony and Crew.😎
Great episode guys. Love how you keep it real.
love the old hotrod stuff latety
Look forward to seeing you post all week. I appreciate the hard work it takes to never let us down!!!
Thanks for watching!
Perfect a end of week beer opening Friday treatttt!!!
All straightened out 👍
Love the vibe of your shop and videos. Really like that 440! Hope y'all have great success!
You've got a great show and the '64 Dodge is definitely worth keeping!
Two speeds: Broken, and Murderous...love it!
You displayed some great mechanic skills to identify that rear axle location problem. As a new subscriber I really enjoyed this episode - thanks.
Drag link/idler arm always seems to be the biggest deal on the box cars. That's a big old cool boat.
It sounds so good now!! And a bonus that its no longer trying to kill you. You guys rule! Let's go!!
Funny episode bro… “driving by suggestion” in the death trap. Laughed a bunch this episode.. thanks
I need that 64' Polara so badly.
Dude!!! Great video!!! I'm working on an old Datsun 521!!! Every fix, is a great feeling!!!✌️
The Pauly Shore joke cracked me up. Love this car/build.
