  • In this video we install a hidden winch mount on our Overland Jeep build. On the ultimate TTB Jeep Grand Wagoneer, we are constant;y doing upgrades. A winch is a very important part of any Overland build.
Our TTB Grand Wagoneer Jeep needs to be ready for any situation. By adding a Harbor Freight Apex winch we feel that it makes the Jeep more reliable if we are ever in a recovery situation. Our Overland Jeep build also needs a simple upgrade that hopefully solves our ongoing fuel issues.

What are your thoughts? Could we have installed it differently?

I was just talking to my buddy that welds that I wanted to do a hidden winch behind the factory bumper. This is great to see that it shouldn't be too complicated.

It's not too bad! Should fit if you get creative.

Awesome! We were out there two summers ago, fun area. Hopefully we will be going to the Oregon dunes in a couple months.

I like it! I have a smittybilt on my truck. I don’t do much off road but it came in really handy pulling out a bunch of brush and briars out at the house today.

Great build. Working on an 89 restore with a few upgrades. Your recovery points are great. Any chance The Fab Lab might make up a few sets to sell your viewers?

Probably not, you have to remember our whole front frame section is off a Ford bronco with the ecordian style frame. Unless you are doing a 89 resto bronco!

This is my plan exactly. Are you selling the tow points?

Thank you! Might be slightly different because we have the bronco frame, but you'll be able to make it work.

You're running that winch backwards. When you flip it upside down the shifter/gearbox should be on the passenger side. The main issue of running it backwards is the brake won't function correctly. Most brakes function by engaging when the spool starts rotating backwards. Also, since you're full time backwards it will wear the brake down prematurely.

As far as reading has told us there should be zero issues with it mounted this way. Would you be able to provide a link or resources?

Just found the page 2 days ago and have watched the whole build! Have you found any issues with the ttb? Or gripes about the ttb? (Other than your shocks valving adjustment)

Thanks for watching hopefully you enjoyed the videos. We have no complaints it's great in the high speed stuff. The front lifts a little more than a solid axels on steep climbs, I do think it's the best all around though.
