Good job! I'd love to have one just like it myself but I'd close that hole at the ramp .Weasels can fit in a hole the size of a dime and they can climb too.
You have dime size weasels?
Our predators are Racoons and hawks that's about it.
coyotes and foxes but they usually don't come out of the woods. We don't have weasels in mid Michigan.

Hey Bobby how u doing? I just built your hutch with some mods.. I wrapped it with wire instead of plywood, wood partition in the middle with 1 door on each side. In the spring the the bottom wire will be easily replaced with 2×4 wire...the top is hindged for top access....the legs will be removed and we will have a Rabbit Tractor 🤠 Thanks for all your hard work!

What direction do you like? The front of your cage is facing ? north ? east? Just curious right now I have mine facing east so they get some morning sun but wanted to know what you thought.
We keep our rabbits in the shade full-time-our summers are pretty hot in Michigan and as you may know Rabbits are prone to heat stroke. We have a prevailing wind from the west so we face our Rabbitry North.
This keeps them out of the winter wind and out of the hot summer sun. Thanks for asking

Hey wanted to get your advice. I live in CT my property is on south side of mountain. I was thinking of putting rabbit hutch on the north side of shed were I have one hutch now. Wasn't sure if they need sun in winter months. So ? Is should I build a hutch in shady spot in summer were it gets some sun in winter like my chickens? I finally found some gd rabbits thanks to your video only took me 2 years now. So I'm soon gonna have 2 mails 2 females to start my rabbits off..

do you have a link for the rabbit cages you used within your hutch?
You can find cages at tractor supply or Farm and Fleet. Just be aware, they are painted steel and not galvanized or you can go on our storefront and click cages and purchase all the supplies you need to build them they will last practically the lifetime of your rabbitry. So are you making a separate chute for each rabbit ?
Thanks for asking. That's the goal right now we only have about half of our cages completed but all our cages have working fans. Eventually they'll all have ramps and runs
Why have the Shute to leave the cage?
For cooling in the summer ( this way your bucks don’t go sterile) and preventing losses in the cold after kindling
I live in South Texas so I’m really interested in having the kindling totes in the ground. I have a long but narrow alleyway (4’ wide) where they will be built so I was wondering if the rabbits can turn a sharp corner to go down the ramp and how steep can the ramp be because space is at a premium for me?
Gotcha they can make pretty tight turns but the ramp can't have too much of an angle to it due to pregnant does not being able to make it up when they have all those kits in their stomach. so try to keep it to a 45 degree or less.
Is there a reason why you built the hutch then dropped the cage inside versus just wrapping the hutch with cage wire?
Yes. This makes everything easier. You could make a big cage sure. That would work too but we like to clean the cages as well as the hutch and framing around the cages make this easy to remove them and work on them add accessories. Also when power washing this make it easy to get the framing looking like new when the cages can be removed.
Also I am planning on doing the same thing but having the cage I can use it as a rabbit tractor on nice days
@@ajwolgemuth5981 Absolutely that sounds like a very effective way to grow them out. You can also lay down about a foot of hardware cloth around the tractor to buy yourself a little time so your rabbits can't tunnel out as fast. That's what my run's get once the tunneling starts.
Can the drain pipe be used as the ramp? As in, connecting the drain pipe to the cage at one end and then to the tote at the other end?
It may work as long as they can effectively climb and descend without hurting themselves. You don’t want the rabbits to injure their claws or go tumbling.
Is there a reason you didn't make the bottom of your shoot to the kindling box wire? I would have thought that poop and per would roll into the kindling box with a solid bottom.
The weight of the snow is pretty heavy so the wood structure holds up well. We don't get a lot of manure in the kindling totes. We try to clean our totes once a month with some new straw and chips. Chips are cheap and one tote takes less than a bail a straw a year.
What are you using for the flooring of the ramp? I can't tell from the video. Thank you!
in the video I used an 8 foot 2 x 6. Recommend a 10 foot. It's an easier ramp for the pregnant does to climb
@@TheRabbitryCenter sorry, what are you using on top of that is my question. You cut something that looks like carpet to put on the 2x6.
How many sheets of the plastic roofing did you need to buy?
I don't remember but we can figure it out now.
The plastic sheets come in 24" wide and 8' long pieces.
So It's (1) piece for every 4' wide. So for this build I'd purchase 3 maybe 4 sheets so you can over lap a couple rows.
What is the ramp down the back for?
That's so your buck can escape the elements to stay comfortable in a Tote. This also keeps him fertile. If he gets too hot he can go sterile for 4-6 months. A doe will use the tote to escape the elements as well but she will also use the tote to kindle and raise her litter. Check this video out you when you get a free minute.

can I use metal corrugated roofing?
You can, but I found that plastic white corrugated plastic reflects the most heat

This looks like a great project, but it totally gives the vibe of being a "see how I made this awesome diy project for under $50!" by using $1,500 of tools
This video is to help folks build their own hutch easily. That's it. You could probably buy every tool ryobi sells and still not pay 1500$
I've worked property management and construction trades all my life so having tools was a necessity. I'm a big fan of Ryobi as you probably could tell. You can do this job with a impact driver, Circular saw and framing. triangle. About 150$ in tools. But a miter saw makes a world of difference.
How do you expect to build anything without tools? You're more than welcome to bang some rocks together to get a sharp rock to craft your own tool. But you would probably complain "Oh, look at Mr. Bigbucks over here, he can afford rocks!". Christ, some people go to an orgy and complain about the cheese dip.
