  • Since it's obvious that the Switch era of Pokemon's gameplay has been very stale for the main entries, I decided to take a different approach on what else could use improvements.

GameFreak needs to take notes from a lot of things, but in particular games like Botw/Totk. Most of the dialogue isn't voice acted, but they have grunts and sound effects to back up the NPC dialogue so it actually gives the vibe of them talking to you... and when it _really_ matters, they do have full voice acting in the story cutscenes, because that's when its most important.

I dunno, grunts getting boring after awhile and considering Zelda is a major franchise I would expected a bit more than that. That's just me.

My main complaint is that the freaking pokeball opening sound is so dull in the games, despite the anime pokeball sound effect being one of the most iconic sounds in all of television.

5:19 As an example, here are some Kanto Pokemon that share the same cry with each other:
    - Pidgeot, Chansey and Pinsir
    - Jigglypuff, Poliwag and Ditto
    - Charizard and Rhyhorn
    - Slowbro and Machamp
    - Vileplume and Aerodactyl
    - Parasect and Mewtwo

5:00 As well as that familiar "bleep" sound when scrolling through dialogue and menus. Just like with the Kingdom Hearts series.😉

Great video. I think the truth of it is that Pokémon makes most of it’s money from merchandising so Game Freak doesn’t need to try anymore. They can continue to pump out subpar games but it won’t matter because they’ll still sell like hot cakes. If the game doesn’t sell (of course it will), then oh well they make plenty of money from selling merch of the newest legendaries/Pokemon.
I liked Scarlet/Violet for it’s multiplayer and surprisingly decent story (in comparison to the usual Pokémon story) but I’ve come to accept that the glory days are behind us. And perhaps the series isn’t for us anymore now that we’re ancient lol maybe the kids love it. I’d be happy to be wrong though, maybe Game Freak will pop off tomorrow and this comment will age like milk.

I think the biggest issues for Pokémon are the dlc model, and framerate. everything else doesn't really get under my skin. it's just a little bit annoying that were being capped at 400 Pokémon on base game, and have to pay for DLC to get more. as far as framerate goes, that's been an issue for awhile, might be less of a problem when switch 2 comes.

Yeah all of this is valid too. I made a different approach since the core gameplay and quality of Pokemon games is easier to point out. I did briefly discuss in a different video that these games need more development gaps => bigger pokedex => much lesser need for these dlcs.

Thanks for watching. I don't think its my mic but maybe still unconfident in my speaking, being an introvert. Or the distance im speaking from the mic.

One of us. One of us.
If I had any actual game programming skills I would make many pokemon games, mostly battle games but still. It would build programming and art skills if I spend the time on it.

2:30 "Fear of the unknown... They are afraid of new ideas... They are loaded with prejudices, not based upon anything in reality, but based on... "If something is new, I reject it immediately because it's frightening to me." What they do instead is just stay with the familiar. You know, to me, the most beautiful things in all the universe, are the most mysterious."🤔

Most english voice acting for japanese games are terrible imo. But as long as they offer a japanese audio option as well, i wouldn't mind voice acting being add to Pokemon.

To each their own. Personally I usually choose the native/origin language unless it has been well regarded or some translations feel off. Examples for me were XC:DE, XC3, DMC, Cyberpunk in English and a show called Dark in German.

i will say this, until either ai voice acting improves and is implemented or custom self insert namable player caracters goes the way of the dodo, voice acting is not worth it. because they can not properly coexist without some stupid work around to bypass the name. you cant have the voice actor say every conceivable name. codsworth did well and was fun but its still not the same. this is why botw and totk link is the first link to actually be called link, because they need to say it all the time. and i think most people would prefer to name their character after themselves. it is clear that ai voice actors is the only solution to this problem. and we dont want that, i would very much prefer for them to give us an actual character rather than a blank self insert, it allows for them to actujally participate and have agency.
