East Anglian Transport Museum, Lowestoft London Transport Weekend Bus Rally + Trolleybuses & Trams

It's around 1986 or 87 and i'm in Lowestoft, Suffolk, at the East Anglian Transport Museum out at Carlton Coalville. It's their London themed event bus rally where we see a good variety of London Transport and non London vehicles plus some Trolleybus and Tram action including London Transport HR2 tram No 1858. Been there, fantastic place!! The trolleybus ride was so nostalgic, couldn’t get off it. If anybody is up that way don’t miss it. Staff are really knowledgeable Only criticism is the cafe is way too small even during the week.

What a great collection of old buses. Good to see how the trolleybuses was connected to the wires. I read that back in the day if the connection was broken the driver had to get his long pole out (no pun intended) and try to put it back on the wires while holding all the traffic up.

Putting the boom back up was the conductors job... towards the end of Trolleybus operation, quite a few were missing and you would have to wait for another Trolleybus to come along in order to get back on the juice!

Those are the colours of Blackpool trams so could well be one of theirs......
